T-Mac Changing Jersey Number

The switch is for a noble cause: “Rockets guard Tracy McGrady will change his uniform number to No. 3 to promote his ’3 points Darfur’ initiative, with an announcement expected this week. McGrady put in the paperwork for the uniform change midway through last season and had received league approval. He was making the switch to his high school number to bring attention to his Darfur Dream Team campaign and 3 Points documentary, Newly acquired Trevor Ariza will wear No. 1 but could not show the uniform at the news conference last week while details of McGrady’s uniform change were completed.”

First lol … I was going to see how long it took someone to care about this. I miss the old Tmac.

James, we saw plenty of the old Tmac last year. Oh sorry, you meant the way he used to be. My bad.

he still has to be on a court ….

  • Remo Williams

i heard he also chose 3 because its the number of games he thinks he’ll play before becoming injured again.

  • riggs

or how many times he will get hurt during the season

Rockets #3 will always be the franchise for me.

I have a lot of respect for T-Mac, not only as a player, but as a person as well.
He’s a really good guy and I love how involved he is with the issues in Darfur. It just reminds us that there are people who can help.

if he even plays any games as a rocket, this might be relevant. and to cosign what as said above, franchise will always be the real #3.

  • Anony Mous

#3 represents how many games they will win in the post-season next year.

Anony took the words from my mouth!

  • Anony Mous

    My bad.

  • Tom

is he even going to play anymore

Maybe he should get some suits made up with number 3 stitched on them – probably would be a better idea than doing it with his jersey!

  • Luke

No no no..the number 3 represents how many years it has been since he’s been anything resembling relevant in the league.

    golf clap

Great cause T-Mac, but you still can support your Darfur Dream Team with the number zero, since that’s what you have been to the Rockets and Ariza should stay away from the number one, because his agent will tell him he needs more numbers on his jersey so he looks better.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

That’s great, actually. Much respect for T-Mac.

Very worthy cause. Lots of respect for T-Mac for taking it on. But what people are saying here is the truth. This would be a more significant gesture if we actually expected to see him wearing the jersey while playing this year.

  • JoeMaMa

Basketball is a game that we all love, but TMac’s using his stature to help other people. I didn’t like him leaving my Raps and he’s never won a playoff round, but I instantly give him respect for stepping up like this.

I knew this guy was going android or bionic with new arms and limbs. 3-Mac, not my idea of iMAC like iRobot though. Interesting and worthwhile dedication to a # change, sorry Kobe and just recently, Ron Artest.

Very noble, too bad he won’t be wearing that jersey until, like, february or something

  • http://www.laumol.nl/weblog Laumol

What if he’s giving away #1 to make room for Amare?

  • LeoneL

    Ariza will wear the uno.

  • tavoris

The Seed…amazing that you’d make a negative comment about a guy who is GIVING BACK with his wealth and fame.

  • Planterra

I would just like to point out that a lot of ppl are an ungrateful bunch..I just despise the fact that T-Mac is judged more as a basketball player than a human being..just because he doesnt do 30ppg anymore doesnt mean he deserves to be stepped on…in fact he should be applauded for what he’s tryna do here…so be appreciative of what he’s done and will do soon, on or off court…besides, he’ll probably still kick our asses on the court anyday

  • wiggins909

t-mac is my favorite and will always be my favorite player in the nba. so wat if he gets hurt dont we all. i bet t-mac could kik all yalls asses in basketball.so learn about him and maybe, hopefully u have a change of heart about this man.
