Cavs Offer Deal to Powe

Yet some here at the SLAM Dome think Joe Smith is the better choice: “According to a source, the Cavs have offered Powe a contract. Though he’s a bit undersized at 6-foot-8, he has proven to be a strong reserve forward. He played a significant role for the Celtics last season following Kevin Garnett’s injury as he averaged 7.7 points and 4.9 rebounds.”

Man, who do the Cavs not want? Is tehre anyone out there the Cavs haven’t given a deal to? Ariza, Artest, Marion, Warrick … the list keeps going. Sh!t! But Powe is a good pickup for any team!!

Powe must be one of the league’s most beloved role players. I hate that the Celtics let him go.

Well if this comes to a conclusion, i couldn’t be happier. Leon the Show was better than ANY frontcourt player not named Garnett/Posey during the C’s 07/08 championship season. During the ’07 Europelive tour in Rome, i spent a few hours with some of the C’s (stayed at the same hotel) one afternoon and Powe was so reserved and unassuming, i didn’t even think he’d make the roster. Since then, loved seeing his scoring, hustle and mad dunks during that season. C’s releasing him while he’s healing from the knee injury ANGERED me to the extreme. Sign with the Cavs, Leon. Then relegate Sideshow to the bench (at least the Show has offensive skills) and make Sheed your biznatch every matchup you get next season.

The Cavs are just dying to be able to go 10-deep. I would like to see Delonte West and Ilgauskas traded to Detroit for Kwame Brown and Richard Hamilton.
