Daryl Morey on T-Mac’s Progress

The Rockets’ GM says McGrady has looked impressive, but still won’t be ready for the start training camp. Oy: “Morey seemed determined to be cautious about expecting too much, too soon, but when pressed about how he thought McGrady looked, he said, ‘More or less, I would have to say, very good. He’s way, way ahead of schedule,’ Morey said. ‘He’s already playing. I don’t think anyone could have predicted he would be playing now. He still has a long way to go. There is a lot of rust to shake off…It’s a slow process. I don’t expect to see him ready for Day 1 of training camp.”‘

    First!
T-mac needs something to increase the efficency of his overall game. Clueless to what that is…?

So by this we are to assume he will be back sooner than all-star break? I hope dude comes back strong. Too legit to quit.

    Cool

  • Exile Posted: Aug.31 at 9:59 am
Be careful shaking off the rust… It may be all thats left holding the dude together.

Haha @ Exile. I would just tell McGrady to rehab strong and come back next season because Houston isn’t likely to be in the playoff mix.

They are likely to be in the playoff mix? lol yeah, with the kings!!

  • George B Posted: Aug.31 at 11:09 am
    i have missed this dude

  • RV Posted: Aug.31 at 12:17 pm
probably will be back a month into the season…

  • Bryan Posted: Aug.31 at 12:25 pm
I swear I hope this dude is better.

  • Klav Posted: Aug.31 at 12:42 pm
he’ll pull a penny and come back too early like usual and get injured again.

  • JE Posted: Aug.31 at 1:09 pm
I hate to say it, but I think Klav might be right. Every player who has gone through the micro fracture surgery warns that the one thing NOT to do is come back too early. I sincerely hope he holds off until after the All-Star break just for good measure.

I hope he comes back strong… and not to soon he has one the best in the bizz helping him so I think he’ll be allright

  • Pardeep Posted: Aug.31 at 3:36 pm
Sad to see such a great talent waste like 3 years of his prime because of injury. But he has been saying he is training with Tim Grover(Jordan’s trainer) and he says he been working super hard so I hope he comes back better than ever.

tmac has to pull of a ’08-’09 wade.that be crazy

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Aug.31 at 7:13 pm
Its not a huge if about T-Mac playing this year. Its expected that Tracy will miss less than a month of the season dude…

  • Sesa Posted: Aug.31 at 7:17 pm
I guess Daryl pushes the envelope of the definition being impressive. That’s what GM do

  • Keion Quarles Posted: Aug.31 at 11:18 pm

    T-Mac returns

  • Seven deuce Posted: Sep.1 at 1:19 am
    we shall see…

  • jamal Posted: Sep.1 at 1:19 am
He sold out on the Rockets last year by going to the media and taking away their trading partners. he’s a hell of a show…but he’s the last guy i want as my leader.

  • tealish Posted: Sep.1 at 2:59 am
Dude needs to take as much time as he needs, and then even more time off after that. Still, he won’t be anywhere near his prime. Just my prediction, but at the most optimistic viewing, I think he’s looking at 22/5/5 even with no other options on his team.

I’ve decided not to get my hopes up this time. Kind of like I did with Grant Hill. I just stopped hoping and if he comes back strong it will be great, but I’m tired of setting myself up for disappointment.
