Leon Powe to Cleveland?

If he signs, Powe won’t likely be in a Cavalier uniform for months: “Thinking outside the box and taking a managed risk, the Cavaliers are close to scoring what could be a key big-man addition to their roster. According to a source, the Cavs have the framework of a contract completed with free agent forward Leon Powe. It could become official as early as Tuesday, when Powe is expected to come to Cleveland to meet with team doctors. Powe is in the middle of recovering from a torn ACL in his left knee and may not be able to return until the All-Star Break. But the Cavs feel like he’s worth the wait.”

low risk, high reward move. jj hickson, time to step up to the plate. if you haven’t proved yourself by december…

Regardless of his injury, the Celtics should have made an offer to Powe.

    please please please do this

  • jumpman3224

If he stays healthy Powe will be a big part of the rotation and possibly starting by playoff time.

haven’t the cavs tried to get EVERY free agent this summer?

i don’t get why they would throw a mil at shelden williams and not even offer a one-year deal to powe. meh.

charlie v was a financial issue. hak warrick and ariza were PT issues. ron artest, on the other hand, just flat out preferred LA. which might have not been a bad thing, i don’t know if he’s got enough mobility at this point to play the 2 full time. charlie v would have been perfect but they just couldn’t compete with detroit’s offer.

Agree with Z, the Celts really prefer Williams? (I know they needed more depth at the SF than the PF, but still).
This would be a great move for Cleveland, and probably makes them the deepest team in the L, once Powe is back

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Powe will be their second best big man behind Shaq this season.

  • Joe A

I was hoping the Celtics would’ve offered a contract on principle alone, but I’m glad that Powe might sign with someone. I hope he comes back healthy and kicks the Celtics’ ass next year….just not in the playoffs.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Dude Z, you always think Ron Artest is done for. HE’S 29! He hasn’t slow down THAT much at all. And yes, he played the 2 full time in Houston, why couldn’t he in Cleveland?

hey Lebron what would make you happy in cleveland? sign a guy that’s coming off injury and won’t be able to help til February!

  • Remo Williams

its actually boom boom PAU, anton.
    get your LYRICS RIGHT!!

This makes me cry. Powe leaving the Celtics for the competition. My white Powe name-and-number tee–my only Celtics one besides Bill Russell–is about to be hung on the wall of shame. Right next to Johnny Damon. Effing traitors. ***DISCLAIMER***: I know the Celtics didn’t re-sign him for a reason, it’s not his fault, haha. It’ll just be sad to see him in the wine and gold.

why cant they sign him , is big baby’s money more important than powe’s , leon will dominate the celtics(sheed) on the low block , i cant wait to see that game sheed vs shaq and powe

  • Yesse

He would be a good add for Cleveland.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

teddy, i didnt say that artest was finished. just that he can’t keep up with 2s. in the nba, your position is what you can defend. battier was always guarding the more slender, quicker wings. there’s a pretty good 3 in cleveland right now, so i’m assuming that ron would have played the 2.

  • vic21

Cleveland proving once again their ability to sign fat bastards.

if the celts were going to get rid if him they should have made a trade to get a better back up big man off the bench

to me thats a bad move honestly
