Trade: Rasual Butler to the Clippers

The Clip Show is taking Rasual and his salary off the Hornets’ books, saving N.O. about $8 mil in the process: “The Clippers acquired shooting guard Rasual Butler and an undisclosed amount of cash Wednesday in a trade with the New Orleans Hornets for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2016, a deal that Coach and General Manager Mike Dunleavy says gives the Clippers ‘good depth across the board.”‘

    …2016?

Clippers dumb move, save that money for the years to come. Wow this move is embarrassing, glad I am a fan of the other LA team.

    Free CP3 from mediocrity

I’ve been pretty unimpressed by Butler the last few years so I say good move…but 2016? I guess anything to get those finances down after taking on that Emeka contract. Plus the Clippers are always weak so that second round pick probably projects to somewhere around #31-35 no matter what year it is.

They really need a scorer. Peja hits 3′s but that’s about it.

I don’t mind the move at all. The Clipps 3 pt shooting is always one of the worst so this does help.
@ Seed..Save money for years to come? Why when u want to try and win now?

  • tavoris

this is a pretty good move for the Clips…not Al Thornton has a backup, they have another dependable shooter, and letting Mike Taylor walk doesn’t appear to be a idiotic move anymore.

  • Statik

First off, the Clips have the resources which comes from years of not paying anybody deserving a quality paycheck shiznit because Sterling is so cheap, but Butler hasn’t been that guy in NO to help relieve CP3 so I see him playing second string to either Thornton or Gordon once they find a way to get rid of Ricky Davis. And the Clips 3-point shooting would be a hell of a lot better if Dumbleavy would let Novak play more than 30 games a season

  • Statik

@tavoris: letting Mike Taylor walk is still an idiotic move, he was consistently fixing Baron’s mistakes that always made the team fall behind only to get pulled so BDiddy could either F it all up or play the last second hero…now we got Telfair as the backup and I cant see how thats gonna help

  • tavoris

Statik…I dont’ like them letting Taylor walk, but I kinda see where they are going. Getting Telfair was completely about getting a pass-first PG WHO WILL GIVE BLAKE GRIFFIN THE F-ING BALL. Otherwise, he’s gonna get no touches with chuckers like Davis, Gordon, and Thornton. Regarding Butler, it was a decision of filling a missing spot on their roster. Of course they aren’t significantly better, but they are MUCH more balanced. Steve Novak doesn’t play much because he’s a less consistent clone of Pat Garrity.

good move by the clipshow. 8 mil is what no saved, but sual is only gonna cost less than 4 mil. this is surprising cuz sual had a great season last year. clips have a decent roster. if they can stay healthy.

@ The Seed: It addresses a need, and it’s for a year. They’re still sitting pretty when it comes to 2010…Pretty solid move. And they still have a fat trade exception to make a run at Sessions if they want. Say what you want about Dunleavy as a coach, but as a gm he’s been quite surprising.

Letting Mike Taylor walk was a big mistake. I hope some team picks him up so he can play during the season.

2016,common thats insane! How old will the players who go to college 4 1 year be now,in primary school?

  • Josh D

Does anyone hear know if theirs any limit to the amount of years you can trade a pick before the draft?

  • tavoris

it’s actually a good move for the Hornets too, since getting rid of Butler cleans up their swingman logjam a bit. Maybe now Julian Wright can get some minutes.

  • Clipp Show 714

Mike Taylor made some nice plays here and there but he turned the rock over way too much. He wasn’t getting the fact that you cannot go full speed at all times just cuz you’re fast. U have to change speeds. I thought he would atleast get better in the off-season but by looks of the summer league we know that didn’t happen.

  • LeoneL

Maybe the Bees can pick up Mike Taylor?

The Seed needs to learn basic comprehension.
The Clippers recived Butler AND CASH.
