A Look at Denver’s Options on the Wing

The Nuggets are thin on the perimeter going into next season, but they do have some options: “When it comes to the wing position, it sounds as if the Nuggets are fighting off symptoms of the avian flu. But help could be on the way. Roger Montgomery, the agent for free-agent swingman Desmond Mason, told FanHouse his client visited Denver earlier this week and there is ‘mutual interest’ between the parties in Mason possibly signing with the Nuggets … Perimeter players the Nuggets also are looking at include small forward 6-foot-7 Wally Szczerbiak and shooting guard Ronald ‘Flip’ Murray.”

Wally Szczeirujfdaslyugh can’t even run. Please not him

Murray had a great season in Atlanta, but maybe Mason would be the better choice here, because I think he’s a slightly better defender…

They should give Steve Francis a shot. I Kould see JR konstantly jacking up bad shots if he’s on the kourt to long, so hurry up and find someone to share his minutes.

Are you kidding…I like every other slam reader love A.I but with him the nuggets can’t win. They should go after Flip, they’ve already got enough athleticism in JR.

  • Clark

The nuggets should totally start Arron Afflalo. He is just a good as defensively as Dante Jones and he can hit the 3. Then Smith could still be their bench scoring. When you are starting Carmelo your offense is essentially covered, so why not focus on D.

JR Smith playing with Desmond Mason? Bring on the Dunkfest!

  • Shem

please not mason way too 1 dimensional

  • underdog

    ATL shouldn’t give up Flip…

Bring dermarr johnson back. 6-9 shooter

i don’t even care for the nuggs but i never want to see wall-e suit up for another playoff team. i hope the bucks or kings make him an offer he can’t refuse.

  • Josh D

Desmond Mason would be settling, go 4 Wally (I’m not going to bother with his surname cos i can’t spell

  • J-Ro

I agree with Clark. Afflalo should start.

Who knew replacing Dahntay Jones would be hard?

I’m a Denver fan and I’m all for starting Afflalo. Personally, I’d bring in Mason as a bench warmer, he’s the one I consider here. Wally would be alright, but he’s gonna want his money and playing time, and I don’t think he’d fit in.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

AI and Chauncey would be a GREAT backcourt. Let AI play his position and they’ll win ball games. If he and Melo could both be in the top 3 in scoring before, imagine them with a PURE point guard in Chauncey.

wally world – stand and shoot KING. The thing is, what if he doesn’t anything (again)…? Can Desmond Mason shoot threes? Atleast, thats what you EXPECT Wally to bring… that and the desire to play the 4 on the block.

They need to get someone who can play some D. Kobe’s averaged like 37 7 and 7 on them the last two postseasons.

  • Shem

why dont they start jr and have afflalo of the bench.. jr s time has come hes a great player and very young. Im sure george karl can teach him to not jack up many stupid shots

  • http://www.nba.com JE

@mark They won over 50 games with AI. With Chauncey at the point, they could play AI at the 2, allowing Carmelo the 3 spot along with JR and afflalo to come off the bench for them. They’d probably be the favorites in the West.

all of those guys suck …it doesn’t even make much of a difference
