Big Ben to Wear No. 6

Sounds like Rodney Stuckey won’t be bribed to give up his jersey number: “No more No. 3 for Ben Wallace. It’s official. He will wear No. 6 for the Pistons this season. At the news conference announcing his return to Detroit, Wallace said of his jersey number: ‘I might just add up the front and the back and take whatever is left.”’

Not as funny as when Tyson Chandler was traded to the Hornets and wanted to wear 3, and was told Paul had it. He said something like: “then I’ll wear 6, cause I plan on being twice the player I was before.” And then SLAM suggested he should really wear 3.2 if that was the case.

    LOL @ Ken hahaha

So, what would it be for Big Ben, after the last couple of years? 2.7?

  • UnRel

    probably -3

Detroit might just sneak into the playoffs… They have a pretty good team on paper.. And I think Sheed can either make a team really good or really bad… He seems to give up easily.. Ben is solid..

oops. didnt mean to say “sneak BACK into playoffs”….. Meant to say ” home court of playoffs” I like them 4th in the east now.. Especially with the new guys (Villanoiva,Gordon) and the vet returnees (Prince,Hamilton,Big Ben)

Bill Russell just signed with the Pistons to stop Ben from desecrating his number. And in the first scrimmage, he still outscored him.

Big Ben would have wore a waterboy’s shirt just to get this last paycheck.

pretty amusing that Stuckey has denied 2 future hall of famers the #3, 1 of whom was wearing it in Detroit when Stuckey was in high school…

@BETCATS not to stand up for Stuckey, since I’m pro-AI but he wanted to give up the number but since it was during the season he was unable to.

BossTerry – So if you have Cleveland, Boston and Orlando as the only teams ahead of Detroit this year then, thats going to be a pretty weak for the East then. I could expect quite reasonably, that Atlanta, Washington and even Toronto and Chicago have productive campaigns through the regular season and New Jersey might be far more competitive than expected. Detroit technically are free-falling and just where that stops remains to be seen. Sure after the top 3 it’s anyones fight, but the number 4th team next season could also be freeing themselves up for a drop to somewhere even as far as 9th or 10th. Thats my prediction.

this is in honor of his projected minutes per game.

or….it’s the number of tens of millions his Bulls contract was worth ;-)

“Wallace signed a four-year contract from the Chicago Bulls on Thursday.

While the offer was first thought to be a four-year, $52 million deal, a source close to the negotiations has told ESPN.com that the deal is actually for four years and $60 million, with a starting salary of nearly $14 million a year”

@Dacre: completely agree, the piston era is done and i see the bobcats beating detroit for that 8th spot.

  • http://sportzin.com Joey E.

pistons should have never let Stuck wear 3.

cmon. you think he’s gonna be great being detroit, dont let him wear a number of someone who will have that number retired one day.

can you retire someone’s number after they leave your team to go to an in-division rival?

  • http://www.realcavsfans.com Anton

    10 mins, 6 turnovers, 1 rebound, 4 fouls

  • http://www.slamonline.com Dave

“Top Ten Signs the Off-Season is Slow, number nine….”

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

@Decre I agree with you too, I dont think the Bobcats will have a better record then Det. I see one of the big 3 Bos,Cle,Orl winning the east. Chicago,Miami,Atlanta,Toronto,Detroit all playoff teams, but not eastern conf. champs.. Darkhorses-Indiana,Washington. (I would rank Was. higher but they have yet to prove they can stay healthy..)
