Grizzlies Begin Defense of Iverson Signing

Despite all indications to the contrary, the brass in Memphis wants you to believe that this won’t be a total disaster: “Heisley called signing the 10-time All Star a no-brainer for a team that has struggled miserably at the box office and in the standings over the past three seasons. ‘People said if you’ve got a chance to get good players, would you? Well, we’ve got Zach Randolph and Allen Iverson,’ [team owner Michael Heisley] said. ‘I didn’t give up one rookie. My guys will play. But Allen is the perfect guy to help these young guys know what it means to win. He’s a fantastic player. He’s going to be a big addition. He’s going to help us be a team to be reckoned with. It’s going to bring real excitement to Memphis. I can’t think of one negative.”‘

This may be the last hurrah for AI. McCants too.

A.I. will most likely try his hardest this year (95% chance), because he wants to keep playing, but people realize he is more trouble than what he is worth. PLaying for the Grizzlies though, he is hoping to prove everyone wrong and my guess get on a higher ranking team.

I hope and pray to God that this whole experiment works. Because, as a Memphian and Grizzlies fan I’ve never been this excited for the Grizzlies EVER!!!! But, I’m just as skeptical about it as well. I hope that it works so that Iverson can prove alot of people wrong.

I think both now have more talent around them then they have on past teams.. (Not counting AI in Detroit because, well it was just a bad fit for him)

You think there wasn’t any talent in Denver and Denver traded him because he was just a great fit for them?

I really hope AI will be given the green light just that he realises he isnt the offensive force he was… After that: The sky is the limit!
