Pat Riley on the Michael Beasley Situation

Riles spoke publickly for the first time about his troubled young forward: “Riley said the goal remains for Beasley ‘to play a prominent role, a bigger role than he played last year.’ Beasley mostly was utilized as a backup power forward in 2008-09. ‘I trust the fact that this guy,’ Riley said, ‘is going to produce big numbers for you.’ Asked if he considered that feasible in the wake of Beasley’s ongoing rehab stay, one that is not scheduled to end until just before the Sept. 28 eve of training camp, Riley said, ‘I think we will find out.’”

Does anyone else think this kid should be playing the 3? I like him better as a small forward. What is he 6’8″ 210lbs, anyway? i mean common.

He has potential to be a mix of melo and j-smoove

If everything goes right I can see him averaging like 18 points and 7-8 rebounds this year.

Nique, his potential is more than 18 ppg. Try 20+ppg. Can score, easily, from anywhere on the floor

Really all I can hope for right now is that the Kid gets his mind right and focuses on whats important. I want to see him play, but thats not the main issue. But I did think he deserved a bigger role last year. Riles likes to play games.

“you in here for some marijuana?”

I want to see Michael play the game he loves, but not at the expense of his health and well being. To me that is the number 1 priority, not basketball.

Wonder when Beasley will “publickly” address the situation?

  • Blow4Blow

He will do crazy good this year

20 and 8 this year…the kids can flat out ball. He’ll emerge as a legit 2nd option for Miami.

I guess I’ll have to draft him in Fantasy Ball then :P

I’m just sayin’ that the guy is a good player but he’s a bad fit with D-Wade

cannot shoot, cannot read the defense, but he is a great athlete and is very determined on the court. He can be as good as Richard Jefferson, you know what I mean

    ^^^^^^Cannot shoot?!
His midrange J is money, needs to work on his D but you know what, all rookies do, but his shooting is already certified, 18-7 next year assuming he gets over his problems
