Ray Allen Seeks a Contract Extension

Ray-Ray wants to sit down with Celtics management and hammer out a new deal: “Ray Allen said Friday night that he would like to negotiate a contract extension with the Celtics beyond this seasonAllen, who turned 34 in July, is entering the final year of a five-year, $85 million deal he signed with the team formally known as the Seattle SuperSonics. Allen will earn $19.7 million this season. ‘Of course, but it will be dealt with in its time,’ said Allen, when asked whether he would like to play more years in Boston. ‘My job doesn’t change. I gotta go out and do the same things. We get paid to play basketball. We’re all in a great situation so we can’t look past this year.”’

Celtics are going to win in 6 this year and then win it in 7 next year… all at the expense of Kobe.

This will, in all likelihood, be Ray’s last season as a Celt. I don’t see Boston shelling out big-time ducats to an aging sharpshooter who disappears for long stretches during the playoffs.

does an extension mean he’ll still earn 20 mil? if so, hell naw.

I’d love to have Ray back in green, but I kinda doubt Boston is gonna offer him a lot of money. Ray can probably get more money elsewhere. Boston is an old team and it would make more sense to bring in a younger swing man for cheaper, no disrespect to Ray’s game.

Making a post, then checking that it’s first, then writing first, defeats the whole purpose of the “firsteeeeeez” game, which is in and of itself lame to begin with. If you’re going to bother to do the idiotic firsteez stuff, at least have the balls to commit to it.

What Ray Allen meant to say is, “I already got my ring, so I don’t really care where I go”

ray’s gonna get traded if he wants a new deal

he’s not getting that check from boston

Next stop: Detroit, in exchange for Richard Hamilton, probably at the trade deadline.

I hope he ends his career here. Sign him to 2 more years for less money. He the Celtics best player during the Bulls series and a key part to winning the championship. I hated how management traded Kenny Anderson away. Would hate it even more if the same happens to Ray Allen.

Hes a great shooter but… thats it in a way does he ever drive to the cup? try to get to the line? Does he ever dribble the ball up the court when rondo(beofre marbury got there) not out there 20 mil over 2 years 30 over 3 years is the max ill give him.

  • Remo Williams

    wow…. 10 mil a year. serious?
    wow.

@ clay it was a fluke dude

Unless the Celts win a ring this year,at the end of the season they should have a look at themselves and see if they should ship out the old so they can get some younger guys in

$tev3 shares the viewpoint of those that don’t watch Celtics games. Ray Allen drives to the basket more than anyone else on the team not named Rajan Rondo. He also finishes better than the starting point guard.

I’ll also go on record to write that Ray Allen (along with Kevin Garnett) are the two most vital pieces to Boston’s championship hopes.

will there be a season next year…?
    refs..?

“the team formally known as the Seattle SuperSonics”…cruel, SLAM

If Ray didn’t drive to the hole he wouldn’t get fouled which would mean he wouldn’t be so clutch at the line. In the championship run Ray not only drove the lane, he drove and finished with either hand and with an occasional dunk. Selective memories have no place in sports debates. lol.

It’s funny that on NBA.com there is an ac about downloading games to see where amazing happens and the pic they display is of Ray Allen going up for a layup against the Lakers…you can’t take a layu w/out drivng the lane. LAST! lol

  • vtrobot

@ marcus: it’s not a fluke when you dominate the league for the entire season and then win the championship fairly easily against the winner of the other conference. fluke = #8 beating a #1.
