A Sneak Peek at Tim Donaghy’s Book

Light, breezy reading for David Stern and company, I’m sure: “Bavetta went on to inform me that it wasn’t the first time the NBA assigned him to a game for a specific purpose. He cited examples, including the 1993 playoff series when he put New Jersey guard Drazen Petrovic on the bench with quick fouls to help Cleveland beat the Nets. He also spoke openly about the 2002 Los Angeles–Sacramento series and called himself the NBA’s ‘go-to guy.”‘

    Who cares… NEXT!

if 25% of what he is saying is true – which i think it is then the NBA is completely rigged – is it possible that all these refs are nuts??!?

right NEXT. its funny when somebody gets caught they do and say anything to save their a**. Donaghy is a little pun in a big game of chess. No official can control a game like this clown claims. People dont realize how hard it is to officaite a game, just on about every play there’s a foul. Dont believe u we need more people.

Nba is rigged.Last night Stern tried to help LeBron win.Refs made some of the most ridicilous calls i have ever seen in 2 minutes. When the refs saw it was too late, they decided to stop.

I actually read the whole excerpt story and heard about this on my local AM sports radio station. You man say “NEXT” to this but its got a lot to do with how the game and the season goes, especially for teams that aren’t huge money makers or don’t have star power. Donaghy is still a d0uche for all the ish he did and he deserves all the punishment he gets, but if he was trying to save his own @ss this would all be irrelevant because it doesn’t change whats happened to him because of it. But on the flip side, if this is true or at least part of it, you gotta believe that the system has bee flawed for a long time and it aint gonna change because on guy rats them out. My uncle (a die hard Laker fan)always told me about the politics in the gain since I was young and I never wanted to believe it was that bad, but everybody’s got a stake in the NBA and they all want their cut or they’re greedy enough to want more and they find a way to make it happen, whether we wanna recognize it or not. I can’t say I applaud Donaghy for snitchin on people just because he got caught up, but if sh!ts real you can’t turn a blind eye and act like it aint happening right in front of your face

i whole heartedly believe the nba assigns certain refs in certain situations because they know what type of calls they make and which team it will favor. The may not call a ref and tell him to ensure a specific team wins but they know which way the calls will lean and what team it will favor. How else can we explain why Joey crawford still has a job? The guy clearly has his own agenda an created an embarrassing situation when he threw out tim duncan for no reason. The nba suspends him but brings him right back and even lets him ref a spurs playoff series?(f my memory serves me correctly). Nba officiating just sucks, they talk about superstar calls, and not being able to get certain calls as a rookie. Why can’t they just call the game according to the rules regardless of who the player is?

I wish dude had decided to write a tell-all before he got popped for being a compulsive liar and gambler. Then maybe I’d be better able to trust what he says.

Damn, read the excerpts. He sounds plausible, but conspiracies always sound plausible. Damn him for putting this information out there AFTER he got popped for gambling and lying.

It’ not money that is the root of all evil, it’s the lack of it.

Fire all the refs. Get rid of the superstar calls and start over.

  • Mark

Looked like the refs were trying to help Cleveland win the game last night in Toronto.

AND the spurs playoff series joey crawford reffed was wcf vs lakers, just so happens he didnt give brent barry the megaobvious call when derek fisher wanted a piggy back ride, which the league admitted should have been called, just a coincidink right?
