    Eddy Curry Shut Down Indefinitely

The Knicks say Curry isn’t in good enough shape to play right now. That, or they simply can’t find a uniform that he can fit into: “Curry is not in acceptable playing condition. For now, that is the official conclusion of the Knicks coaching and management staff as Knicks president Donnie Walsh announced Tuesday that Curry would not be back on the practice floor until trainers got him into better playing shape. ‘While he did a lot this summer, he’s not ready to go out there and play at NBA speed,’ Walsh said. ‘We’re going to take longer and get him out there, because every time the comes out on the floor, he pulls a muscle.”‘

Is this really a story, or are do you guys just feel like hearing some eddy curry jokes?

    • JDH21 Posted: Oct.7 at 9:55 am
Best Trade in NBA history getting rid of this guy Chicago Bulls. Ok maybe not better than Kobe for Vlade.

    • Mo Charlo Posted: Oct.7 at 9:57 am
This is like the Simpsons episode where Homer gains a lot of weight so he can just stay home all day.

    • German Reignman Posted: Oct.7 at 10:00 am
This is so unbelievable …. how can he get away with this … this has to be against his contract …. I mean: NBA players are not allowed to ride motobikes or snowboards in the offseason but they are allowed to gain weight as much as they like without voiding their contractual obligations ?

I once pulled a muscle reaching for a donut. The difference is I drive a van for a living and not a cough cough nba player.

    • Ken Posted: Oct.7 at 10:11 am
The weird thing is that I remember Curry’s season where he was averaging like 18 and 8 at the Allstar break, and he was the first option.

reason #398 (also his current weight) why i hate the knicks

    • niQ Posted: Oct.7 at 10:51 am
You know, up until this article I completely forgot he was on the team when I was ranking teams in the East. Lol

I feel bad for him. He has worked out all summer long and lost 40 pounds - that shows some dedication. He probably should have had a trainer so that he worked-out the ‘right’ way as to not pull anything, but no gurantee that would have prevented anything. He can/will be a 15-20/8 guy once he comes back, maybe better.

i wish what’s expected of Eddy was the same as what’s expected of me at my job. i also wish that i had his salary. how could the knicks have paid this much for jerome james and curry so close together? the knicks have been probably one of the better examples of how not to run a business for several years now. it’s been very hard to be a fan. this is exactly why i see no point in purchasing a ticket to a game and supporting this nonsense. WTF?

even kwame brown can stay in shape..

    • Joe Posted: Oct.7 at 12:11 pm
      John Paxson did right!

    • T Money Posted: Oct.7 at 12:13 pm
On a serious note though, I’d have him on suicide watch. Dude has been through a lot the past few years and doesn’t seem like the most emotionally together individual.

    • ClydeSays Posted: Oct.7 at 12:18 pm
If he lost 40 pds and STILL isn’t in shape, what did he weigh originally? 350? Why in the world did Isiah think that an out of shape YOUNG center with questionable work habits, low basketball IQ and a HEART condition would be his franchise center?! Then shortly after trading for him complain that the days of dominant big men were over?
I really home the Knicks get it together one of these decades, because their fans deserve it, but players like Curry aren’t helping the cause. I guess this is the year of Free Darko!

    • mike Posted: Oct.7 at 12:43 pm
i know he had a rep for not being a hard worker but dude’s been through a lot in the past year, give him a chance

    • TADOne Posted: Oct.7 at 12:48 pm
      DUH.

    • sab Posted: Oct.7 at 1:36 pm
      what an absolute loser

    • rog123 Posted: Oct.7 at 2:18 pm
I always root for a big man to be successful, since there are not many who can, but people like curry make it frustrating. 09-10 love, oden, mullins, and what happened to that dude erik something…. he was from anotther country and was supposedly the next dominant center

    • Saleem Posted: Oct.7 at 2:53 pm
Think this may be an angle to void his contract?

    • Luciano Galasso Posted: Oct.7 at 2:58 pm
That is just unacceptable. How are you going to think you can compete on the best level there is and not put the work in you know you’re supposed to put in? I don’t see any justifiable reasoning for this.

    • tavoris Posted: Oct.7 at 3:36 pm
i get the feeling that the Knicks will say this about Curry, no matter how much his conditioning improves…

    • tavoris Posted: Oct.7 at 3:37 pm
Luciano, about two weeks ago they were raving at how great Curry looked…and how much work he had done.

    • Jacob J Posted: Oct.7 at 4:05 pm
This is the only time I hear about Eddy Curry, when its about all the money hes earning to sit on his fat ass.

    • tavoris Posted: Oct.7 at 4:08 pm
Jacob, D’Antoni needs to go ahead and admit that he doesn’t want to play Curry at all….this cat-and-mouse game makes the Marbury situation look more and more like the beginning of a pattern.

    • Z.O. Posted: Oct.7 at 4:16 pm
i practice baseball in dudes highschool gym. he was a legend back at thornridge highschool. had pictures of him posted all up in there. I know he could have been one of the more dominate centers in the NBA hadnt been for his heart problems back on the bulls. he had serious potential, i dont believe one could loose all of it like that neither, i say give him a chance, tho his age is catching up with him now, he can still produce, especially for the knicks. But i think there doin the right thing by keeping him. they know the talent the man posseses

    • Alan Paul Posted: Oct.7 at 4:19 pm
I this from the Onion? “We’re going to take longer and get him out there, because every time the comes out on the floor, he pulls a muscle.”‘

    • penny Posted: Oct.7 at 5:53 pm
curry shut down? wait m i missing something here? when was he open in the first place?

    • who bris Posted: Oct.7 at 9:32 pm
you mean the amazing Wes failed at his job to get chicken curry into shape? LeBron definitely ain’t coming to the garden now. He’s Brooklyn bound, baby.

    • Kris Posted: Oct.8 at 2:21 am
How much does he weigh right now? Seems to me he got some disciplinary issues, being a professional athlete I would think that would be one of your top values.

    • karan Posted: Oct.8 at 7:46 am
in other news, the earth is STILL revolving around the sun
