Glen Davis: Out Indefinitely

Big Baby reportedly got into it with a former teammate, breaking his thumb in the process. According to at least one report, he could end up missing a large chunk of the season: “The Celtics were also waiting on Monday for results of a second opinion on the right thumb injury suffered by backup center Glen Davis, who reportedly suffered the injury in an off-court altercation with a former teammate of his Sunday. ‘It doesn’t look good,’ said a league source. The Celtics were hopeful that Davis hasn’t fractured his thumb; if he did, surgery would be required and Davis would likely miss several months, if not the entire season.”

Ouch, looks like the Celts may have to play KG more than they hoped. All those additional miles on his knees can make the playoffs more interesting.

What kinda friends does this guy have??

A broken thumb makes someone miss a whole season really?

  • tavoris

Bryan…yup. And goof thing the C’s picked up all those PF’s in the summer. Now Rivers won’t have to worry about keeping Davis happy with minutes…KG, Perkins, and Sheed can each get around 30 minutes per game now.

    A whole season? Wow.

  • Jarrod

says it happened in louisiana. james posey?

  • NUPE

Why are they keeping the ‘former teammates’ name out of the story? With these kind of friends he doesn’t need any enemies.

  • wow

just mix and match w/sheed, perkins, and daniels…not that big a deal

  • maio

That’s what you get when you try to take away Big Baby’s ice cream cone.

  • tavoris

@ Jarrod, probably not. Davis is from Louisiana, so it very well could be a HS or college teammate. @ NUPE, probably because no charges were filed, and naming the guy would open Davis up 2 being sued.

  • T Money

His girlfriend probably kicked his ass. Isn’t she into MMA?

Well, this could mean we’ll see more of Rasheed, which is a good thing. But this also could mean more of Scalabrine, and that is scary. Losing Davis is going to hurt either way, though.

Oh Boy, A chink in the Celtics championship armor.

Well in the Fantasy Leagues that I’m in, I don’t think anyone drafted Glen Davis..

  • Buschfire

    HAHAHA did he cry?

  • tavoris

Seth, I think we’ll also see a peek or 2 of Shelden Williams…yikes

You can do well with only 3 bigs if they’re good, young and can stay out of foul trouble. LA did it last year with Pau, LO and Bynum. But Sheed and KG are old… they need a fourth big.

  • NUPE

Anytime you lose a rotation player it disrupts things. Having Sheed is a buffer, but age is a factor here.

Maybe it was that kid he pushed out of the way when he made that shot?

  • la huey

delonte, big baby, rashard…season’s still young (hell, not even born yet) but kinda funny how lakers have artest and no problems on opening night.
