Popovic: Beard-Free, Ready for Season

Pop shaved off his glorious beard, and changed up the routine in Spurs camp a bit prior to the regular season getting underway: “Spurs coach Gregg Popovich threw a couple of changes at his club Monday, starting practice at 4p.m. and showing up clean-shaven after sporting a full beard for more than a year. It was the first afternoon practice any of the Spurs could recall, but Popovich shrugged off any significance, other than changing the routine a bit as the regular-season opener approaches. ‘Probably for most of the guys, it is different, but I like it,’ said Manu Ginobili, who explained that most practice sessions during his seven pro seasons in Argentina and Europe were held in the afternoon. ‘Actually, I think I’m more awake, so I get a better workout.”’

    The spurs are my favorite franchise in any sport. You don’t hear about spurs players being caught with any drugs or weapons. Duncan never was arrested. Parker never cursed out the media. Ginobili never complained about his teammates. They are great. If this is the only coverage they get so be it, but they are just a basketball team like everyone else. So I don’t know why they are looked down upon by so many, not everyone.

    spurs made the best additions AND subtractions this off-season. still, six games will be the best they can do vs lake show

    btw, Rog123, i’m with you. spurs are a model franchise. but winning breeds envy, i guess.

    They should pick up a lockdown defender. M.daniels would’ve been good. Dantahy jones would’ve been good too. I am sure they will sign bowen around jan-feb.

    Man I loved what Bowen has done for us throughout the years. We just don’t need him no more. Against popular belief, spurs do not need a lock down defender. They have to go back to playing good team D. It’s a good thing that POP has once again emphasized playing good D again. Only 6 games VS Lakers? lol u gotta be dreaming. It’s going 7, and its the Spurs that advance to the finals against Boston. Seeing that the Lakers couldn’t get it done against them in 08, the spurs will show u how to dispose of them. Lol let the hate mail begin….
