    Heat Sign Carlos Arroyo

In search of veteran depth at point guard, the Miami Heat didn’t have to look far. Instead, after short drive from his Pinecrest home, former Florida International standout Carlos Arroyo joined the Heat in time for Monday’s practice at AmericanAirlines Arena. “The opportunity kind of came quick,” said an enthused Arroyo. “Ever since I was in college, I always wanted to be a part of the Heat. I went to school here. My wife’s from here.”

Out of the NBA since ending the 2007-08 season with the Orlando Magic, Arroyo spent last season with Euroleague power Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel. Determined to stay closer to home and get back into the NBA, he agreed to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract Monday, after the Heat called his agent, Leon Rose, Sunday night.

glad he’s giving up the autotune and getting back into hoops.

    • Brad Long Posted: Oct.12 at 5:12 pm
This guy is too damn talented to be bouncing around like this.

    • Ed Posted: Oct.12 at 5:47 pm
Arroyo is in his prime. He will give everything day in day out. Good for Miami and for him.

DOPE. Welcome back to the L!

    • MacMouth Posted: Oct.12 at 6:26 pm
All well if the guy can score points…You have to contain as well.
Score 100 points per game but when you concede 115…!!
      Bring on the ball game

YES!!So happy for Arroyo. He is hands down one of the nicest guys in the L and completely underrated.

Agreed, i used to work at Best Buy in Orlando, and Arroyo would come in every now an than, he was always polite,an humble. Real nice guy. Great player but i always wondered why he had a hard time staying on a team.

Great pickup.. He’s in his prime right now. I saw him play over the summer and the guy CAN PLAY. The celtics are really dumb for not signing him.. He would of been their missing piece to their 2nd unit.. well… he will get some good minutes with the Heat and Chalmers can learn a lot from this guy. Welcome back to the league.

    • Eddie LOmax Posted: Oct.12 at 9:34 pm
Very happy about this, depending on what game he brings.. Hopefully it’s the one like when he chopped up Team USA a couple years ago. The kid had the m’fn ball on a string. Spo should let this guy handle the ball and run D Wade of some screens for some easy buckets Rip Hamilton style. Chalmers and Carlos are a good double at the point.
      GO HEAT

      My man.

Agreed with Brad Long. I remember reading an article on Carlos before he even got drafted, when he was on the beach while his wife called him giving him the story. Hope he established himself in the NBA, dude’s got talent.

co-sign everybody, basically. skill level is way too high to bounce in and out of the league. maybe he doesn’t listen to the coaches? porous defense? i always thought that his handles were ON POINT.

man arroyo is a good player, i’m surprised he’s bounced around so much.

    • melvin ely Posted: Oct.13 at 2:57 am
mario who? nice pickup for the heat

    • Joey E. Posted: Oct.13 at 4:16 am
terrible defensively, way too streaky of a shooter. thats why he’s always bouncing around. Maybe the PR demographics of Miami help him stay with a team for once. He might have a chance at starting

    • tavoris Posted: Oct.13 at 4:26 am
good pick up for the heat. hopefully wade doesn’t have to play as many minutes at pg now.

    • Jayo Posted: Oct.13 at 5:09 am
A good fit for Miami! He will look good in the uni! I can see him becoming a crowd favorite!

    • flash Posted: Oct.13 at 8:44 am
      nice addition ;)

    • NUPE Posted: Oct.13 at 9:41 am
He’s a decent player at best! the Heat needed a PG and he was just about the only one available (it was either him or Starbury since they didn’t get AI). I’m not sure if this was a good pick-up for them or not but it seems from a few of the post that his ‘nice guy’ status seems to cloud judgement as to how good he is. He had a nice game once upon a time, but there are reasons why nobody in the L wanted him and he ended up in Europe.

So I guess they aint gettin Skip

    • tavoris Posted: Oct.13 at 11:01 am
Arroyo does have a problem with over-dribbling, which hinders his ability to run an offense. However, all he really has to do in Miami is NOT turn the ball over for him to be an upgrade over Chris Quinn.

    • TADOne Posted: Oct.13 at 1:45 pm
      Nice pick up.
