McHale Replaces Gary Payton on NBA TV

Some may say that replacing Gary Payton ruins the ‘best studio show ever.’ But we’re looking forward to it! Why? Because, as the Star Tribune‘s Judd Zulgad puts it, “This should mean McHale and Charles Barkley will able to have an opportunity to match wits at times.”

    That sucks. Especially since I just deleted the Game Night recordings I had of GP & C Webb on my DVR. They just killed the best hoops show on TV.

    I guess I’m the only one who couldn’t stand Payton on that show. I doubt McHale will be much better, but at least Gary’s gone.

    Worst news I’ve heard all week. No disrespect to mchale but I loved that combo. Individually I didn’t really like any of them but together those 3 made my favorite combo on tv…

    Sure they weren’t the greatest thing to ever hit TV but CWebb and GP was the perfect fit for that show. They were not overly statistic nor did they go out of their way to bash any player. They were the perfect bball comic relief and breaking them up sucks period juice. Mchale better be the next Bernie Mac, otherwise I will no longer be a fan of “Fan Night”.

    I LIKED the fact that GP thought too much of himself. That’s what made him worth watching. Barkely is the same. You have to have an ego to say crazy isht and make people believe it.

    Cant be serious. Gary Payton not only doesn’t know anything, but talks like a dummy. Wasn’t very funny either, ANYBODY ON HERE ACTUALLY WATCH THE SHOW?? You know they replaced him cuzza decline in the ratings, as in ie. no one likes him.

    that show was great!!!!! Webb and gp had great chemistry and humor. It was like sitting with a bunch of your friend s talking hoops! Mchale?? WTF he sucks balls

    I guess the show is after more ‘analysis’ and less ‘commentary’. Certainly going to change the personality of the show. GP had such great chemestry with everybody, felt like the fellas just hangin out watching a game. With Mchale I think it won’t be as ‘fun’ but provide more perspective. Got to wait and see how much I like it.

    I don’t know if they were too black, but they are a little too unpredictable. And not in the “I’m kinda stupid” Charles Barkely way.
    GP and Chris had a tendency to say anything about everything. Plus, McHale is a GM so he has more cache with the bigwigs.

    I think most agree this has nothing to do with McHale, and everything to do wih C-Webb and GP. Damn say it isn’t so, it just seems so unesscessary. I mean C-Webb and GP were one of the best things about last season…

    I think the Glove and Chris Webber were a good fit.. I think NBATV can use Gary Payton as a guest analyst from time to time with C-Webb or let him do some guest spots.. I looked fwd to GP and C-Webb on Tuesday nights… McHale isn’t exciting to me on TV.. He need to go back to the TWolves in a another role.. I know Rick Kamala is licking Mchale’s azz now………
