Most Popular NBA Jerseys in Europe

You might remember the U.S. national sales from April. Forget those rankings. Today, we’re talking about the most popular jerseys in European markets. Take a look at the list. Every American — except for aces LeBron and Wade — is either an adidas athlete (Europe’s penultimate athletic apparel company) or a teammate of a foreign-born player who’s also on the top 15.

Our only question is… Where’s the love for Hedo?

MOST POPULAR JERSEYS in EUROPE
1. Kobe Bryant
2. Kevin Garnett
3. Pau Gasol
4. LeBron James
5. Dwyane Wade
6. Tony Parker
7. Dwight Howard
8. Andrea Bargnani
9. Jose Calderon
10. Paul Pierce
11. Dirk Nowitzki
12. Rudy Fernandez
13. Marco Belinelli
14. Joakim Noah
15. Gilbert Arenas

International sales (including Asia and South America) account for 30 percent of the League’s overall merchandise business. So, maybe the Commish is right to be paying all the attention he is to promoting his product overseas.

    no love for D-Rose?

  • Clark

I’m so happy Iverson is not on there…

  • James aka…

I’m amazed that Dirk is below the players he’s below on this list. I guess German appetites for the sport are far less than Italians or Spaniards

  • ENDS

Dwight Howard is the new Yao Ming. taking that chinesse number one spot.

What do you mean by penultimate? I looked it up and it means “next to last.” Is that what you’re trying to say? Adidas is next to nothing in Europe?

  • ENDS

Wow. That’s true no blue turkoglu. Especially after they’ve christened him the next toni kukoc or petrovic

  • la huey

Man, Joakim’s daddy must be real popular over there…

  • ENDS

wrong word Slam. Plus who’s peirce’s euro buddy

  • http://www.powerforward.nl JLP

Are there even Belinelli jerseys available anywhere??

  • Aaron

    Clark you are A**

  • Josh D

I da thought AI would of been on here, i’ve seen loads of people wearing AIs old Sixers at training

  • memyselfand9

well, maybe turkey is not counted as a european country.

  • Ken

Weird that Bellinelli is on there, but not Gallinari.

  • wiz

    where’s manu`

  • karan

    joakim noah? wtf?

  • http://slamonline.com/ Ryne Nelson

    ENDS, you’re right about Pierce.

  • Exile

    3 Raptors… On a list of really good players… Haven’t seen that before…

  • Yassi

since when is Turkey in Europe???? Jesus….

  • Yassi

Asian Turkey, which includes 97% of the country, is separated from European Turkey by the Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles (which together form a water link between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean). European Turkey includes 3% of the country.

  • Oli

@yassi: i think turkey counts as european since it plays at the european championships (not just at basketball nonetheless)
@wiz: manu’s probably not there because unlike mr. longoria, he’s not european.
@james: dirk is probably just at #11 because he has played on the same team with the same jersey and jersey number (nice strategy, kobe!) number like forever (unlike pau)
@ends: don’t they call hedo “the turkish michael jordan” even?

  • 6marjons

if hedo had stuck with orlando this year i think next year he could have broken top fifteen, it wont happen now

  • Rusty

on a slightly related note, i just copped myself a tmac orlando jerset, you know the navy blue pinstripe one, ish is hot.

  • Yassi

@Oli: that is correct but only for political reasons of course.
If you count sales as a company by continents I dont think that applies at all. I positively know it doenst count in at least 5 big companies and why the hell should it?

  • http://staticseth.blogspot.com/ Seth

I wonder where Rubio could have ended up on this list…

  • http://www.slamonline.com James the balla

    Kobe baby!! : D

  • rog123

  • balizo

where’s ray allen to complete the big three

    This
    is
    a
    test

  • LeoneL

btw, who won that cp3 contest here?

  • jedi420

Worst thing about Europe for jersey’s is that Champion has the license.. It would be much better to see Nike and Addidas jerseys out there but we are stuck with cheap ass Champion pieces of crap.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com Blinguo

Hibachi’s top 15 worldwide. Everybody likes grillin’. Bellinelli actually seeing court time now = back on the list next season even higher?
Or lower because nobody wants to rebuy his jersey?

  • Gaber

In Slovenia u can only buy Champion jersey.

Last time i checked offical Champion store , there was AI Sixers and Denver jersey, Shaq’s Miami, Kobe’s and guess what, yes MJ # 23 …

Slovenia where stuck in the time happens.

BTW: I have never seen anybody wearing Vujačič jersey.
does anybody wear maschine jersey in states :)

  • Yassi

you cant even buy Arenas stuff here even if you died for it…..its not so much what people buy but what they are offered.
btw, AI IS one of the most popular jersey, top3 I´d say but I guess you are being offered the latest numbers. lets say from first half 2009 or so. That should explain a lot……

  • maeng

    marco belineli? joahkim noah? WTF?

  • Prentice

Cosign Jedi, 99% percent of these sales are probably gifts and little kids, because no self respecting fan would rock that horrible cheap champion crap that they sell here. On a positive not ESPN America just bought the rights to show 100+ live NBA games in the UK this year.

  • Vikturus

Noah gets alot of love in France and some here in Sweden i guess. (Haven’t seen anyone with his jersey though)

  • Ali

I am from Turkey and I have 3 Hedo jerseys but Magic. The Toronto #26 jersey is not out there every city in Turkey.
But the fact is Turkey still not a rich country, therefore unofficial jerseys selling in every bazaar,of course those jerseys are not counting officially.

  • http://www.nbatop50.com NBA 50 Greatest Players

Of course Kobe is the greatest selling jersey. Come on now!

  • don

the reason why kobe has the #1 jersey is because he switched #s.

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

I would have thought Nash would have got some euro love???

  • Danny W UK

In the UK, Americans, and French people aren’t liked very much. So Nash as a Canadian is f**ked.
