Replacement Refs: Foul Happy

Last night, the zebras whistled Boston and Houston for a combined 75 fouls. Amazing: “We just watched 75 fouls and 102 free throws in one basketball game. OK, it’s preseason. If you pay full price to watch these games, you’re not too picky, anyway. But just as the teams learn all that must be corrected in time for the season, so must the league. ‘Replacement refs’ should become a euphemism for ‘preseason refs.’ The league cannot go through real games like this.”

It only took about 5 minutes for Sheed to yell out his first “BALL DON’T LIE” in a Celtics uniform.

I got a feeling the start of the season is gonna be ugly.

75 fouls? IN ONE SINGLE GAME??? Please don’t make the NBA like most of the European leagues!

  • knock knock

Anyone surprised that lebron hasn’t committed a single foul yet?? Yet, has drew about 50% of them?

knock knock: its cause he doesnt play defense.

Did slam miss every game of the playoffs? Nothing new there. Refs are horrible, I was hoping the new refs would be better but it seems they’re just as god awful.

hopefully they are travel happy too, so lebron cant take five steps to make a game winner

Eh. It’ll be the only time this year Houston beats the Celtics. Unfortunately.

Logues, didn’t Lebron make all NBA Defensive Team last year? I’m guessing what’s happening is that fouls are actually being called instead of NBA ref mentality of “No harm no foul”

I am the biggest Celtics fan in south so what I say is not bias. Lebron can really play defense and yes he deserves the defensive player of the year. He’s much better defensively than Kobe but Kobe’s got a much better team anyway Lebron and the front office gotta find more ways to get better cos they can’t hang with Boston.

Yeah, LBJ defends with the best of them. He’s pretty amazing at avoiding foul trouble too – he puts that all-world body control of his to use when protecting the rim, and he’s capable of reading plays so well that he can tell when to go for it and when to give up.
