A Bloody Popeye Jones Arrested for DWI

Believe it or not, but Popeye’s face has seen better days: “Former Dallas Mavericks player and current assistant coach Ronald Jerome ‘Popeye’ Jones was arrested Sunday evening in Richardson and accused of drunken driving. Jones, who played for the Mavericks from 1993 until 1996 and again in 2002-03, was bonded out of jail Monday morning at about 4 a.m., according to Richardson Police Department public information officer Jonathan Wakefield.”

Popeye’s seen better days. I’m glad nobody on the team has commented and I hope it stays that way.

Uh oh. Don’t think Mark Cuban will let this slide. Dude is probably out of a job for good.

“When police finally corralled Jones, he lost his balance and fell to the pavement, receiving minor cuts on his face. Wakefield said Jones would not be charged with resisting arrest.” Right -the Po-Po straight messed the dude up but he “fell” and they conveniently lost the tape too.

You drive drunk you deserve your ass beat, regardless of who it’s by.

I go to Murray State University where Popeye went to school and is a highly thought of here. It is just a disappointment that someone his age and with his status can’t be more responsible. I just hope Cuban gets him help and gives him a second chance, but if not I couldn’t argue with that either.

That’s a shame. I used to love irritating my college roommate by humming the tune to the cartoon “Popeye” or the theme to the movie the “Goonies” everytime Jones did something on the court.
