Adelman on T-Mac: ‘A Long Ways to Go’

At this point, the only person in the Rockets’ organization with any sort of optimism about McGrady’s comeback, is Tracy himself: “There is no timetable,’ Adelman said. ‘Though it looks like there’s been a lot of timetables out there the last day or so, there hasn’t been for me.’ Though McGrady said Tuesday he’s in no rush to return, Adelman understands if McGrady is impatient. ‘The biggest thing in talking to him is he doesn’t have the pain he had last year,’ Adelman said. ‘He still has a long ways to go as far as running the court, moving, defensively, those types of things. The biggest thing in his mind is last year he had a definite limp. He does not have that. Coming off that (microfracture) surgery, you’re not going to have that explosiveness. You’re not going to have the quickness.”’

mcgrady was my fav player back in the day with toronto him and his cousin vince carter tagteaming! i remember the day orlando acquired him& the first game he had to play against vince((memories)) him&mike miller were a great twosome, but i really dont know what happened once he got to houston..its like all these injuries has been keeping him down&houston really needs him! he is that one that can take them beyond first round in the playoffs but he must get better…lets be reminded he is thehighest paid player so there is a reason behind that*eyebrow raised*

Pllllllllllllease T Mac! Please, be somewhere close to where you use to be before your career is over. Loved your style man.

If he can pull a Grant Hill then his career might be saved. Grant Hills are hard to come by though.

i should point out Tmac has said he never said he’d be back on the 18th, but that it was a target date he set for himself, to be going full speed and feel ready to return…

this is an up-styled sjax attempt to be dealt. McG has value because he has talent. But, neither his game nor TMc has matured properly.

i am getting so sick of the injuries. the rockets are cursed. the team is playing so well right now, but we have to except the fact that without yao, a deep playoff run is impossible. should have won it all last year.

If the are waiting fir t mac to be able to move on defense than they could be waiting for quite sometime. Cat never really pushed on the defensive end. I want him back 100%. Bit of a gunner though

just shut it down until next year, the league is full of player who came back way to soon after major surgery and still aren’t right.

Candice, his workout regimen has bean beaten to death by critics. The man never learned to keep his body in shape – hence all the injuries now.

TMac is in the last year of his deal & currently the highest paid player in the L @ $23,239,561.

My guess is that that Rockets keep him on the shelf until he’s as close to a 100% as he can be, look for a trading partner at the deadline, then deal him to a playoff team looking for cap space next season & some scoring this season. Cleveland?
