Chris Paul vs Rajon Rondo

Things got more than a little testy between the two point guards last night: “First, Paul walked over to shake hands and exchange congratulations with Paul Pierce following the Celtics’ rugged 97-87 win over Paul’s New Orleans Hornets. In the midst of that conversation, Paul was approached by Celtics guard Rajon Rondo - less than 24 hours away from signing a long-term extension in Boston or staying perhaps only one more season - who said some unkind words to his point guard counterpart. Paul shot back at Rondo and the two had to be separated. Rondo was ushered to the tunnel by Celtics director of security Phil Lynch, while Paul continued his testy conversation with Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau, and the two were seen yelling at each other while Paul slowly walked to toward the Hornets’ tunnel.”

They were kind of tackling eachother under the hoop too; they were going at it all game. That was an ugly, ugly game….nobody could buy a basket, nobody could grab offensive rebounds. You all know that I’m Rondo’s biggest fan and biggest supporter on here, but dude needs to know his place. I’ve been saying that for a while now.

  • Marijn Posted: Nov.2 at 9:36 am
    oh boy!

  • tavoris Posted: Nov.2 at 10:12 am
well, Rondo sure doesn’t lack for confidence, does he?

  • Seth Posted: Nov.2 at 10:17 am
Rondo seems to get into these scuffles with other point guards (Alston, Hinrich to name a couple) more than anyone else. Dude is just scrappy and aggressive.

  • Z Posted: Nov.2 at 10:21 am
It’s not confidence, it’s just being a jerk because you play on an elite squad. CP3 eats dudes like Rondo for breakfast and he knows it. Punk.

  • Jukai Posted: Nov.2 at 10:53 am
Gotta co-sign Z, but I don’t really like the Celtics, so, you know, grain of salt…

  • keatssycamore Posted: Nov.2 at 11:25 am
Paul should’ve punched him in the nuts. That the signature CP3 move!

  • Dru Ha Posted: Nov.2 at 11:32 am
Rondo bullied Paul all game anytime they were off the ball. He’s bigger, stronger, quicker, etc … he ripped Paul at halfcourt one time so easily he was smiling after! Carlton Paul: fraudness in Nawlins.

  • niQ Posted: Nov.2 at 11:38 am
I like Rondo’s game but, kid needs to realize how lucky he is to be playing with such a cast. Clearly he wasn’t doing any damage before KG and Ray Allen flew into town.

  • ClydeSays Posted: Nov.2 at 11:52 am
I think if you go back and look at any Hornets VS C’s game you’ll see that Rondo kept CP3 below his average ppg, if he didn’t stop him outright. No question both are competitors. But once the game is over, go to the lockers. No need to start isht after the fact.

  • Chazz Michael Michaels Posted: Nov.2 at 12:01 pm
    Z - man your gross, CP3 eats dudes??? I liked CP3 as a player too……

  • manny Posted: Nov.2 at 12:01 pm
paul ended up with 22 pts 8 dimes and a steal with only 2 turns. rondo had 6 measly points and 10 assists with 4 turns. nuff said. paul won tht battle, tho his team lost the proverbial war :/

  • slawson Posted: Nov.2 at 1:22 pm
    C. Paul is a great all-around player, but has to do a lot more for his team, and is frustrated that they seem to have taken a small step backwards, despite adding Okafor. Rondo gets better every year, and is already the top elite defensive PG in the game. If his jumper becomes more consistent… he is a HOF lock.

  • 360vue Posted: Nov.2 at 1:25 pm
rondo is an upstart. personally, aggression is essential in basketball but its got to be controlled and rondo cant do that in even the slightest respect. and absolutely no need to mouth sh!t after your team’s won a game, especially when your own contribution was relatively minimal

  • Cizzo Posted: Nov.2 at 1:42 pm
niQ you just threw a dart bullseyes, put Rondo with Sactown and lets see how he act’s it’s one thing to be confident, but to fake thugg it uot is unaceptable, he look like Bow Wow who he scaring?

  • K-Nasty Posted: Nov.2 at 1:51 pm
Why does Rondo always want to fight everybody? Does he feel he still has something to prove? Just let your game do the talking man.

  • max Posted: Nov.2 at 1:53 pm
@slawson you know that Hall of Fame and an all-star appearance are not the same thing? Hall of Fame’s the one for really special players…

  • tommyboi Posted: Nov.2 at 2:02 pm
CP3 should have kicked boys ass! know your place in the PG pecking order rajon…

  • TADOne Posted: Nov.2 at 2:38 pm
Rondo needs to know his place. Poor winner.

  • kostar Posted: Nov.2 at 2:42 pm
alright listen, as much as everyone likes to talk up Rondo as some hot shiet, he’s nothing. i’d like to see rondo run point for any other team in the league and see all his efficiency ratings drop like a rock. he acts like a punk all the time, because he can hide behind pierce, kg, ray allen, and sheed…and lock for HOF? who are you kidding? is he magic? he is isiah? is he jkidd? or stockton? can he make his teammates better? or is it his teammates making him look better? i’m pretty sure its the latter.

  • Chris C Posted: Nov.2 at 3:11 pm
Paul’s a bigger punk than Rondo..He is always gettin into it with opposing players and complaning to the refs…Also like dude above said his signature move is to punch another man in the junk..not tough at all

  • Eboy Posted: Nov.2 at 3:38 pm
I thought when Rondo averaged a triple double against D Rose over 7 games last season he quieted this stupidity. Dude is solid and plays harder than 95% of the other point guards in the game. CP3 is fantastic but dude ain’t just killing Rajon when they play against each other. That’s just stupid talk to the highest degree.

  • NUPE Posted: Nov.2 at 3:42 pm
Wish I knew what was actually said. Paul just giving congrats to the Celts and Rondo comes over just to talk trash? Come on Rondo - grow up! I like how Ray Allen talked about the 48 minutes on the court he’ll hate your guts, but after the final buzzer it’s all good. Maybe Rondo is just jealous cause Paul get the kind of notariety he wants. All I know, I’m looking forward to the next game they play against each other.

  • UnRel Posted: Nov.2 at 3:44 pm
Rondo is that one friend that always gets your crew in trouble.. the only one talking ish to the security.. or the one that starts fights with another group of idiots.. while the rest of you have to either save him.. or fight your way out of his mess.. and if you’re mature.. he’s the friend that ain’t your friend anymore..

  • Anton Posted: Nov.2 at 3:50 pm
    b!tch

  • got beef Posted: Nov.2 at 4:00 pm
i hate how everyonbe hates on rondo’s games… can u say 3 triple doubles in playoffs??

  • airs Posted: Nov.2 at 4:02 pm
someone put his as$ on the floor.

  • Dru Ha Posted: Nov.2 at 5:44 pm
Paul’s incessant overdribbling, poor comprehension when it comes to team defense, and his shortcomings in terms of getting murdered in the post (see Billups in the playoffs and every switch last night v the celtics) would kill Boston if you switched their teams and gave Paul the keys to Doc Rivers’ squad.

  • Bassbester Posted: Nov.2 at 6:17 pm
if you were rondo and you’re season opener was overshadowed by beind humiliated by LBJ you would look for trouble with smaller ones too…

  • Ramon R7O Posted: Nov.2 at 7:59 pm
Rondo is getting it all twisted he’s starting to get good now and he has to be humble specially to CP3 who owns The Point Guard position like no one else in the league

  • Dru Ha Posted: Nov.2 at 10:17 pm
It’s hard to be humiliated when you win though. Humiliation is when it’s year 7 of your nba career and your hometown organization still has you as a one-man team in the eastern conference. With the “big rotting carcass” … aka, Shaq.

  • lou Posted: Nov.3 at 4:18 am
Chris Paul is a whiny b*tch. every play pleading for a foul when he pushes off, walking around like he’s a tuff guy. I tried to like him, I read the article in the new SLAM and was like he got skills, and hes a nice dude, off court. Then I watched him play against the Spurs and it reminded me why I can’t stand him. Competitiveness is one thing, he seems like an asshole on the court. Even Kobe at his worst with his cheap shots, which he does use often is more likable. Rondo is a great point guard for the Celtics, and last I checked Rondo vs Chris Paul. Rondo has a ring. Holla

  • haaaaters everywhere Posted: Nov.3 at 1:23 pm
Rondo is a top 7 point guard with or without the big three. Obviously he benefits from having talent around him but who doesn’t? I thought him doing his thang in the playoffs would end the talk of him being surrounded by great players. He obv isn’t as fast as players like darren williams, but I think he plays harder than any player in thegame. And it is obvious that chris paul takes offense to being pushed around by a nba champ

  • Gregg_G Posted: Nov.3 at 4:19 pm
Jay-z said it best…men lie, women lie numbers dont. Career assit CP3 3,000 Rondo 1,396. WTF! you have 3 all-stars on your team and thats the best you can do. Everybody always talks about how good Rondo is on D (Rondo 416 career steals) CP3 729 career steals, let not forget 106 in a row (all-time record)
If Rondo was really that good he would have made the all-star team off of coaches votes. If you think that Rondo having a ring makes him better than your telling me that Dickey Simpkins is better that Charles Barkley. oh yeah Gold medal team Usa is better than a nba championship

  • bones Posted: Nov.3 at 11:27 pm
Rondo is not even top 7 anyways and if he is hes at the bottom of the list…in no order > Rondo….Chris Paul, D Williams, Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, D Rose, Mo Williams, and Ty Lawson will be better…Rondo is a bum he can play D but his assist numbers are garbage and he got no J!!!!

  • Sid Posted: Nov.3 at 11:51 pm
CP3 is a member of the DREAMTEAM. Rondo is NOTHING.

  • bshea Posted: Nov.4 at 8:45 am
all you stat hounds need to recognize that because of the sitution he is in, rondo is not called upon to put up CP3 numbers. When he needs to score, he can, (see last year’s playoffs) but his role on the floor is to manage the game, get the ball to some of the best scorers in the game, and play lockdown defense, all of which he does extremely well. CP3 gets steals in passing lanes, his 1-on-1 D is not as strong and his team defense principles are garbage. Also, rondo had the 2nd highest FG% in the league for a guard last season

  • kinadyot Posted: Nov.4 at 3:12 pm
+1 with bshea…. stats is nothing. Winning championship is everything. You expect Rajon to equal CP3’s stats? then what’s the purpose of having KG, Allen, pierce & Sheed… LAST 3 posters before bshea are nonsense wannabees

  • Jr Posted: Nov.5 at 1:27 am
Let me know when Rondo gets nominated for MVP. You know, the award that players like Kobe and Lebron win; Guys that don’t ride other All-Stars and get the job done themselves. Enough said.

  • MJ Posted: Nov.5 at 10:14 pm
If Rondo can not surpass C.Paul’s accomplishments as point guard even with the help from the three great players in celtics, how much more pain in the ass for him if C.Paul goes to a good team like cleveland, which celtics had a hard time with only lebron james in it or other team with at least one talented baller… (Im downplayin the amount of support that c.paul needs because his position as player is equivalent to two point guards that only needs one or two baller who can shoot well… not west kinda player. hes inconsistent shooter. im pissed whenever i see a good player in a team lose a game because of team mates not producing scores and relying too much on that star player alone…

  • bones Posted: Nov.5 at 10:16 pm
ya i would hope rondo can score when he is constantly overlooked and forgot about because he is playing with three all stars…when his teammates are consistently drawing double teams and he is left open…he still has no J and he looks like some sort of alien anyways

  • MJ Posted: Nov.5 at 10:30 pm
because if that star player gets double or triple guard, and hes the only the good player in that team, the game is over. look at michael jordan for instance, when he was the only good player in chicago bulls, all the attention of defensive players were in him whenever he gets the ball (detroit piston vs mj). but that changed, when pippen and other good players came in…. how the fck can you double guard mjordan knowing there are other two to three shooter in the floor that can shoot.

  • AV Posted: Nov.7 at 8:23 pm
i keep tryin to tell ppl this but rondo would be a free agent right now if it werent for kg, piece, and allen, he needs to slow down, his ego is getting waaay too big

  • toddius Posted: Nov.8 at 8:37 am
it is the team defense and helpside that helps rondo get paul under his average. Whoever thinks that these two are at the same level is sadly mistaken. the guy needs an attitude adjustment.and now!!!Ya can be an aggressive player without being disresppectfull. Bill wedington has 2 or 3 nba rings as well.Robert Horry has more rings than MJ but that doesnt make him any better. If thats ya only trashtalk well than the guy is more stupid than i thought.
