Fantasy Basketball, Week 6

Iverson is on Philly’s radar. Is he on yours?

by Charles Peach

You have to appreciate Lou Williams. He broke his jaw early in the game against the Wizards in DC last Tuesday but kept playing. In fact, he led a comeback in the 4th quarter that fell short when his potential game-winning shot bricked. He didn’t know it was broken until the nexLou Williamst day when he arose from a sleepless night in Boston and finally decided it was time to get X-rays.

During the game he was spitting blood constantly but assumed it was a tooth causing the trouble. If only that were the case, he could’ve made a quick stop at the dentist and continued his breakout party. Instead he’ll be on a liquid diet and out of uniform for two months. What a shame. Few things are going the Sixers way this season, but he was one of the few reasons to remain hopeful. Check out these averages through the first 14 games of the season: 17.4 points on 49.7 percent field goal shooting, 5.1 assists, 1.7 steals, and just 1.8 turnovers. Hopefully Lou’s recovery is as speedy as his transition game.

How can Philly rebound from such sad news? Bring back AI! Or at least “consider” it. That’s what we’re hearing. After a pathetic 5-12 start to the season and attendance rivaling Memphis for the League’s worst, AI couldn’t be a better fit! If the reunion does go down, I’m sure Iverson would be getting his numbers, so you might want to stash him on your roster this week if he’s still chillin’ on the wire. Did you hear that? I think Willie Green just dropped himself and added AI on his fantasy team!

If you own Lou, there is a big decision to make. Do you hang on to him and miss out on all of the production you’d be getting from free agents in those eight weeks or drop him? If your team is already in trouble you might want to consider dropping him because you don’t want to dig yourself too deep a hole. I don’t mean to just go out there and drop him for just anybody but maybe there is a free agent out there that could pick up the slack. And you might just find him in this week’s….

Pickups

Ben Wallace – He’s owned in both of my leagues and he shouldn’t be available in yours either. Don’t be distracted by the lack of scoring. He’s averaging 9.9 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. He had over 10 offensive rebounds in each of his last two games, something he hasn’t done since the 2003 Playoffs against Orlando.

Luke Ridnour – On the radar last week, and now he’s a pickup. Mike Redd’s return was short lived and Luke continued his solid play averaging 18.7 points and 6.7 assists last week. By the way it’s a four-game week for the Bucks.

Raymond Felton – Could be sitting on a waiver wire near you. He can certainly kill you in FG% and TOs but the Bobcats have won their last 4 games and Felton has been surprisingly efficient (22 assists, 1 turnover) in that span. Larry Brown must be getting through to him because he’s only jacked three tMike Dunleavy Jrhrees in the last three games.

Mike Dunleavy – If he can make a full recovery he’ll be a definite starter for the Pacers and a must-own fantasy player. He scored 13 points in 15 minutes in his return.

Hakim Warrick – With opportunity he can be a valuable fantasy source, as he demonstrated last week averaging 17 points and 7 assists in four games. As long as Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (love writing that name) continues to miss time, the opportunity will be there.

Courtney Lee – In his first game in a couple weeks, he had 6 steals in 22 minutes. He needs to be playing 35 mpg, at least. I think he’ll regain his starting job soon which will send CDR to the bench.

Jamaal Tinsley – Mike Conley just doesn’t want the job, does he? Coach Hollins is giving him all the chances he can afford to give him but Conley isn’t getting it done. If he doesn’t want it, Tinsley’ll take it! In his last two he’s averaged 14 points, 6 assists, and 2 threes.

On The Radar

Thabo Sefolosha – A long, aggressive, reliable defender that is sometimes valuable in the fantasy realm. If he knocked down the three-ball a bit more often then he would be a nice player to own, but for now just keep monitoring his work to see if there is any continuity.

Jrue Holiday – He was a popular addition after the news about Lou Williams missing eight weeks dropped, but he hasn’t lived up to the faJonas Jerebkontasies yet. Now with AI potentially returning to the Sixers he might find himself right back where he was when Lou was healthy – on that pine.

Jason Smith – He played pretty well in two starts while Elton Brand sat out, then he mysteriously played only 8 minutes against the Spurs on Sunday. He’s a promising talent, a 7-footer who can stroke the three, so if Brand continues to sit you might want to give him a shot.

Jonas Jerebko – Still no word on the return of either Tayshaun Prince or Rip Hamilton to the Pistons lineup and Jerebko is starting to produce. Last week he scored 22 against the Clippers shooting 4-4 from downtown and followed it up with his first career double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) against the Hawks.

DeJuan Blair – He can produce in bunches. Unfortunately that’s all he’s getting the chance to do, averaging less than 15 minutes per game. In 17 minutes against Philly on Sunday he put up 11 points, 10 rebounds (7 offensive), and 3 blocks.

Nazr Mohammed – He has also been scoring in bunches lately. In his last four he has played about 19 minutes per game and averaged 13.5 points and 6.2 rebounds. Plus he’s backing up Tyson Chandler, who is a little bit injury-prone.

Nick Young – He’s on the radar by default. Yes, he scored over 20 in consecutive games last week but I don’t see that kind of productivity lasting. He’s still behind Jamison, Butler, and Arenas in line to get shots in DC and is only getting more minutes now because of the absence of Mike Miller. Randy Foye, Andray Blatche, DeShawn Stevenson, and recently acquired Earl Boykins all want some shots too.

Omri Casspi – He’s seeing consistent minutes from Coach Westphal and responding, scoring in double-figures in each of his last five games. He’s a good three-point shooter but suspect from the charity stripe. In what would become his final game as Nets Head Coach, Lawrence Frank put him on the line repeatedly late in the fourth quarter but Casspi responded by making 3-4 when it counted.

Delonte West – What can we expect from him? I have no clue. But I know the Cavs would love more performances like the one against Dallas on SaturDelonte Westday, when he delivered 10 points and 10 assists (0 turnovers) in 28 minutes. Let’s see if he gets more opportunities to do so.

Anderson Varejao – He’s been strong off the bench in his last five averaging 7 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks.

Arron Afflalo – His minutes and production will likely be inconsistent but as he matures and gets more comfortable in his role he may become a player you’d want in a deep league. If Streaky Earl is hittin’ his shots then Afflalo might find himself on the bench but for now he’s the starter at shooting guard.

Damien Wilkins – I don’t know if Coach Rambis is on to this or not but Wilkins has started 3 games for the T’Wolves this year. The team’s record in those games: 2-1. The team’s record when Wilkins doesn’t start: 0-14. So, maybe it has to do with a little more than just Wilkins but, hey, a trend is a trend. He also has double-doubles in both victories.

Sergio Rodriguez – He put together a few nice games last week but it isn’t production you can rely on just yet. There just aren’t enough minutes to distribute in Sacramento to turn Rodriguez into a fantasy player unless you’re in a very deep league.

Taj Gibson – He’s winning the job over Brad Miller at the moment but he’s having a lot of foul trouble. Regardless, he’s creeping up to double-double territory in his last few games as well as blocking a few shots.

Fantasy Line of the Week

OK, so one would assume that Melo and his fitty would be in here. BUT, I decided to go with his counterpart because Al Harrington actually would’ve won a standard, nine-category fantasy match-up with Melo. Let’s compare:

Al Harrington: 41 PTS, 58% FG, 69% FT, 4 3PTM, 10 REB, 1 AST, 2 BLK, 2 STL, 1 TO

Carmelo Anthony: 50 PTS, 61% FG, 94% FT, 1 3PTM, 6 REB, 5 AST, 0 BLK, 0 STL, 3 TO

Sorry, Melo. Mr. Harrington wins 5-4.

Thanks as always, Charles. Jerebko is a very interesting fantasy player, as most Europeans are, because they can fill so many needs. There’s no question this guy will be a fantasy stud in the future.

  • Ryne Nelson Posted: Nov.30 at 12:01 pm
Also, if you had to choose between Iverson and Love on the wire, who would you take right now?

  • JE Posted: Nov.30 at 12:30 pm
Charles: I’ve hung on to Roy Hibbert the past couple of weeks, despite his newfound lack of touches, simply because he’s still producing in the blocks department. However, both AI and Andrew Bogut are available on my wire. Is it time to lose him?

  • Seth Posted: Nov.30 at 1:06 pm
JE, I’ve been hanging on to Hibbert as well. Ever since Foster and Murphy came back his numbers have dipped big time. Two of the past three games he has logged just 12 mins. I’m thinking if he doesn’t contribute much this week I might drop him for someone else for blocks.

  • JE Posted: Nov.30 at 1:45 pm
Seth: Yeah, I just hate to do it after he played so well at the beginning of the season. It was really looking like a breakout year.

  • JE Posted: Nov.30 at 1:49 pm
-Not to mention, it’s a four-game week for Indy. If I drop him and he turns it around all of a sudden, I’m going to have to throw myself in front of a train.

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Nov.30 at 2:12 pm
im hanging on to hibbert. so lee coming back will drop cdrs minutes? how? wont he just move to the 3? i dont see how cdr wont get 35 mins on this nets team. im holding onto him. erysan illayasova(sp) !!!! im strongly considering picking him up

  • Charles Peach Posted: Nov.30 at 2:15 pm
@Ryne: Hey, I’d go with Love. Too many question marks around the Answer (ha). You know Love will come back and rebound well, shoot better from the field and probably just be an all around more consistent player than AI.

  • niQ Posted: Nov.30 at 2:28 pm
Yea, I was wrong about Jrue Holiday. Shouldn’t have picked up him so early..

  • Charles Peach Posted: Nov.30 at 2:32 pm
@JE: I’m glad you asked about Hibbert because its probably time to part ways with him. Coach O’Brien is still sorting out the rotation in Indy and it seems he has too many players to work with. Like Seth said, Foster and Murphy are back, plus they want to get Psycho-T some minutes. I don’t know if the opportunity will be there for him to contribute regularly. If Bogut is available, pick him up ASAP because he returns tonight!

  • niQ Posted: Nov.30 at 2:34 pm
@Tarzan, Erysan has proven to be able to hang. Plus, he was killing it when playing overseas.

  • JE Posted: Nov.30 at 2:41 pm
Charles: Thanks for the advice. But TONIGHT?! Yahoo Sports says he’ll be back in 2 weeks. I added him regardless, because 16 and 9 is worth the wait.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Nov.30 at 2:48 pm
@Tarzan Cooper: You’re right about that. CDR would probably slide to SF. Good call. I think the Nets optimal lineup would be Harris, Lee, CDR, Yi (he should return within the next couple of weeks), and Lopez. The only thing I’m worried about with CDR is the amount of shots he gets with Harris and Lee back in the lineup. Hopefully he can still be productive.
I would scoop Ilyasova though for sure! He’s been long gone in my leagues. I would drop Hibbert for Ilyasova. See what happens tonight. Bogut returns for the Bucks so see how Ilyasova is affected. I don’t think it will make a big difference though, he’s the truth.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Nov.30 at 2:50 pm
@niQ: Can’t blame ya man, a lot of people went after Jrue, he was the logical choice especially seeing what pretty much EVERY other rookie guard is doing right now.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Nov.30 at 2:52 pm
@JE: Yea man, I just read a report that he’s making a surprise return tonight. It’s on rotoworld.com.

  • JE Posted: Nov.30 at 2:58 pm
hot damn. I just got the steal of the year.

  • Jukai Posted: Nov.30 at 3:01 pm
I finally gave up on Anthony Randolph. Sorry, not with Turiaf coming back and Biedris almost back. I add and drop players like hotcakes, but I kept onto Randolph because I was sure I would see great things… but more because I’m a fan.
I’ve picked up Ridnour for the time being, only because of the four game week, and I’ll look for someone more long term for the future. Someone snagged CDR because I could get him (F you Brad Long)

  • JE Posted: Nov.30 at 3:12 pm
One more question, then I swear I’m done. IF the AI deal becomes official, do you support dropping Drew Gooden for him?

  • Migs Posted: Nov.30 at 3:42 pm
Just picked up AI in exchange for Jrue. The league I’m in caps player pickups to 30, so I’m hoping I didn’t just waste a move to get AI. @Jukai – I’ve still got Anthony Randolph… I’d drop him, but there’s just nobody worth picking up on the waiver wire who can live up to his potential… Anyone know what’s up with Boris Diaw? That’s one dude who’s game regressed big time.

  • JE Posted: Nov.30 at 3:52 pm
Migs: the Jacko trade pretty much killed Diaw. I had him too, but dropped him last night for Ilyasova. It’s not looking like someone’s going to snag him the second you let him go, so if his production does go back up, you should have a decent shot at getting him back when the time comes.

  • Jukai Posted: Nov.30 at 5:07 pm
Migs: This is the first time I’m playing fantasy where the pick-up cap is unlimited (as long as it’s under seven a week).
How many players are in your league? I’m pretty sure once Biedris comes back, Randolph will disappear, so I’d find it hard to imagine there is NO ONE to replace Randolph with.
I also have Diaw, and I’m sticking with him: dude’s ankle has bothered him, so he might turn around with time.

  • Migs Posted: Nov.30 at 5:24 pm
@Jukai Yeah, it’s a 12 team h2h… After scouring the FA list, I’m left with a bunch of injured guys (Lou Williams, Speights, Travis Outlaw, and Mike Miller. Out of the guys who are healthy, Ridnour is the best, followed by Dahntay Jones, Chuck Hayes, Matt Bonner, Tim Thomas, Donte Greene, Delfino, Moon, Nocioni, Barbosa… frankly I’d rather wait it out a bit and just rely on the rest of my team to make up for AntRand’s crappy stats until either the light finally turns on in his head or Don Nelson retires. As for Boris.. man, this guy is a fantasy beast when he gets the chance… let’s hope it’s just the ankle, but he did play quite a bit (34 mins) at Washington…

  • nbk Posted: Nov.30 at 5:38 pm
CHarles another fantasy question – I am still down on Grant Hill, what you think about dropping him for Nate Rob. My team is balanced so losing a SG-SF for a PG-SG wont hurt me at all.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Nov.30 at 6:19 pm
@Jukai: I understand you only have so much patience for one player. In Randolph’s situation I think the best case scenario would be to wait til he explodes one game, then try to deal him. Trades aren’t that easy to pull of though so you gotta do what you gotta do.

  • Jukai Posted: Nov.30 at 6:55 pm
Charles: It’s an unlimited add/drop league. So I’d rather just add/drop till I find the right fit than try and trade. It’s a ten man-league, so too many goods on the waiver.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Nov.30 at 8:51 pm
@JE: Well without knowing the specs of your league and what your team needs are I would generally like Drew Gooden over AI. I don’t know what Damp’s deal is and I think Gooden has played well enough to win the job.

  • Waters Posted: Nov.30 at 9:36 pm
One of my leagues has only 10 teams and right now I am holding onto Dahntay Jones, basically everyone on the list is available, who do you think is the best pickup? I have Kevin Love coming back, hopefully next week. I also have Lou Williams, who hopefully will be back in 5 to 6 as opposed to 7 to 8. Any suggestions? Last week I was edged in rebounds, and lost by a few blocks, so I am thinking Ben Wallace, but I figure that with Kevin Love back I will get my boards back up and he might give me a block or so a game. Also, with Gil totaling 15 points over the past 2 games, what do you recommend for him? Trying to trade him away or holding on until he gets healthier?

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Dec.1 at 12:52 am
i was just able to scoop bogut in one of my leagues. i like that ersan still had a nice game. waters, im watchin gil play like booboo too. i think as the season goes, his numbers will improve.

  • ciolkstar Posted: Dec.1 at 4:51 am
So nice to see a legitimate fantasy discussion here. Haven’t been on in a minute, but my team this year is definitely, without question by far my FB I’ve ever assembled.
    12 Team ($ League) Brandon Roy (PG,SG,SF)
    Monta Ellis (PG,SG)
    Brandon Jennings (PG)
    Eric Gordon (SG)
    Gilbert Arenas (PG)
    Anthony Morrow (SG,SF)
    Josh Smith (SF,PF)
    Amare Stoudamire (PF,C)
    Andrea Bargnani (PF,C)
    Jason Thompson (SF,PF)
    Andrew Bogut (C)
    Danilo Galinari (SF)
MIke Dunleavy (SG,SF) Morrow, Bogut, Danilo, and Dunleavy are all big time FAs I’ve picked up. Had been using Hibbert and Haywood for awhile, but just dropped them for Lil Dun and Bogut (FA steal)
No trades or anything, I just destroyed the middle rounds of my draft. Went with Amare 10th overall, BRoy at 14, Arenas 34th, JSmoove 38th, Monta 58th, Bargnani 62, Eric Gordon 82(!) Also snagged Jason Thompson and Brandon Jennings in the last two rounds! Sorry for the ridiculously long post…I’m just excited about how insanely dope and unstoppable my fantasy team looks this year.

  • Dacre Posted: Dec.1 at 9:26 am
I dont know much about fantasy bball. but the real nba is fun.

  • Wayno Posted: Dec.1 at 9:27 am
Hey, so should I hang onto Jameer Nelson or try to replace him? I wasn’t overwhelmed with his numbers prior to the injury… If so, who would be a good replacement?

  • niQ Posted: Dec.1 at 10:30 am
So I picked up AI yesterday and dropped Darren Collison. Hope he can get at LEAST 15 ppg which should be easy for him when he RETURNS TO PHILLY! And yea, what’s up with Arenas lately? He’s definitely in a slump.
and @JE. Good pick up on Bogut! But just don’t celebrate too early, since he IS known for his injuries.
and Hey Charles, who do you think is better? in terms of assists and 3′s? I have Stephen Curry in one League and someone recently dropped Courtney Lee. Should I hold on to Curry? I’m just a little worried since he barely played last night.

  • Goat Posted: Dec.1 at 10:31 am
Any clue how much longer Chris Paul will be sidelined? I just dropped Collison for Ersan. Any thoughts? Also, I’m plus a few games so can afford to have Hibbert and Ant Randolph sit on my bench for a bit. Would you drop either right now for Love? I’m not raelly sold on Love’s game (from a fantasy perspective) yet. He gives fg%, pts and boards…..but nothing else, right?

  • Wayno Posted: Dec.1 at 11:04 am
Not even fg% really goat. He onlyt shot around 45% last season. I thought about dropping Drew Gooden for Kevin Love, but Gooden had 15 pts, 10 rebs, a nd 2 blks that night so I reconsidered. Love is striclty a 2 cat player from what I’ve seen.

  • niQ Posted: Dec.1 at 11:24 am
I would pick up Love if I were you. If he makes a full recovery you could be seeing a nightly double double.

  • Seth Posted: Dec.1 at 11:27 am
Well, last night’s 2-pt, 2-rb dud from Hibbert was the last straw for me, so I let him go. Anyone else holding on to him would be wise to drop ASAP! I really need blocks for my squad, so I picked up Chris Andersen who’s averaging 2 blocks/game the last five games. Don’t even care that he averages 5 pts and 5 rbs a game. Get the blocks, baby!

  • Migs Posted: Dec.1 at 11:34 am
@Wayno – I’ve got Gooden on my squad, but if someone offered me KLove for him, I’d take it and run. Erick Dampier is back in the lineup and for some reason, he’s back to being a starter despite Gooden playing the best ball he’s played in recent memory. WTF is up with Rick Carlisle? Love is kinda like a David Lee lite, especially on a TWolves squad that has such a weak frontcourt.

  • Migs Posted: Dec.1 at 11:46 am
My team is really light on 3′s and assists… I’ve got decent blocks and boards with Big Al, David Lee, Brook Lopez, Antony Randolph, and Gooden anchoring my PF/C spot; good scoring from BRoy, Melo, CDR, hopefully AI; steals are ok with Thabo and the rest of those guys… but my only 3-pt “threats” are JWill, Nick Young, and Sheed. Any advice? I’ve also got a useless Boris Diaw on my squad.

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Dec.1 at 1:29 pm
ciolkstar, you should drop lil dun for haywood right now. haywood is double double plus blocks. rubber face dun is sometimes really good, sometimes invisible. i have 3 teams this year, two are in first place, one is in 10th? or something, thats my all injury team.

considering no one is getting rebounds in minni. love would be an amazing pick up. big al isnt even averaging a double double and the last person who got one was d. wilkins. that alone should tell you that love will flourish.

  • Goat Posted: Dec.1 at 2:11 pm
@niQ, I agree that he probably will average a double double when he’s back, but I don’t see much in terms of the other 6 cat……2 cat players don’t win fantasy championships.

  • niQ Posted: Dec.1 at 2:22 pm
I know, but I meant it in a if you need a rebounder way. And people were thinking of picking Love up for Hibbert, Randolph, or Gooden. Hibbert has become completely irrelevant, randolph got injured last night, and Gooden is a maybe depending on minutes played. But I would definitely put my money on Kevin Love is what I’m trying to say. (when comparing with those 3.)

  • Migs Posted: Dec.1 at 3:09 pm
100% agree w/ niQ on that.. People put waay to much stock on fantasy sleepers who do well, but sometimes it’s better to just go with the best basketball player in a good situation – and that’s Kevin Love. Plus, his trade value could net you a decent shotblocker if you’re really adamant in filling your block totals.

  • Wayno Posted: Dec.1 at 4:03 pm
Like I said earlier though, my problem with love is that he only gives you pts and rebounds which are probably the to easiest stats to find in fantasy ball. For a big his FG% isn’t very good and he give almost no blocks, steals, or assists. Picking him up and trying to trade him while his stock is high is a good idea though. I’d take a serious look at Ben Wallace if he’s available in any of your leagues though, he puts up fantastic defensive numbers eventhough he tends to kill your precentages a bit.

  • Joe D Posted: Dec.1 at 4:28 pm
Hey Mr. Fantasy, I am in a highly competitive league and need up to the minute transactions and fantasy knowledge. Do you have a Twitter account with posting I can follow? Let me know.

  • niQ Posted: Dec.1 at 5:41 pm
Oh also, I’m thinking of picking up Dalembert for either Ridnour or Beno Udrih. Who should I drop between the 2?

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 7:42 pm
@Migs: Yea, a few guys have alluded to this but Diaw did roll his ankle evidently. He’s been playing through it but it has certainly affected his numbers. Gerald Wallace mentioned it on an interview with the NBA TV crew. Hang on to him and see if he gets it turned around soon. He’s an important player for the Bobcats.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 8:03 pm
@nbK: If Nate returns to last year’s form then you would certainly want him over Grant. If you think you can afford to do it, go for it. Grant has been consistently playing and mildly producing this season. Nate will give you more threes, more points, and a bit more assists but Grant shoots a better fg%, slightly less turnovers, and grabs more rebs.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 8:10 pm
@Waters: Is Dahntay really your weakest link? He seems to be getting the PT over Brandon Rush right now. But even if he is, I don’t like the log jam on the Pacers right now and I’d rather have Kevin Love. The dude is a beast on the boards and let’s not forget he nearly averaged a double-double in his rookie season (11.1 and 9.1). Special player.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 8:13 pm
@Tarzan Cooper and Waters: I have Gilbert too and I’m not liking what I’m seeing. He’s such a head-case. Just a weird dude and I don’t like his attitude right now. I think he had a dispute with Caron Butler recently too. On top of that, I think the whole thing between Shaq and his fiancee is blowing up and that is in his head. Have you heard about this?

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 8:15 pm
@ciolkstar: I like the look of that team right there. I’m a little jealous, actually.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 8:26 pm
@Dacre: You should get involved. YaHoo! has registration open until 12/17 so you should look into it. Fantasy basketball gives you a taste of what its like to be a GM in the NBA.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 8:59 pm
@niQ: As far as Arenas is concerned I think its fair to say that the rumors swirling about Shaq and his fiancee are in his head.
I’d def stick with Steph Curry. I like Courtney Lee but Curry is a special player and I just don’t think you can drop him – as crazy as Nellie is.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 9:16 pm
@Goat: A beat writer for the Hornets thinks that CP3 could be back in 10 days. Good news. Even though its speculation. I really like Ilyasova. You definitely made the right move. I would hang on to Anthony Randolph and I would definitely get Love if I were you. I think its safe to drop Hibbert. The Pacers prefer to start Jeff Foster so until that changes Hibbert will be inconsistent. Love is very good in rebounds, solid in scoring and fg%, his ft% is very good for a big. And hopefully he’ll improve on his steals, blocks, and passing this season. He’s a special player and I wouldn’t count him out.

  • Waters Posted: Dec.1 at 9:17 pm
I haven’t heard anything about Shaq & Gil’s fiancee. Do tell.
Also, am I the only one who puts little stock into a good offensive game played against the Suns? Danilo Galinarri is ripping it up, but I have a hard time trusting numbers against the Suns, they just seem so inflated.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 9:30 pm
@Wayno: Don’t sleep on Love, he’s a baller. I would bet he improves on a very good rookie season, which should be some really nice numbers.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 9:35 pm
@Seth: I’m with you, I think Hibbert will be inconsistent with Murphy and Foster back in the lineup. If Birdman starts blocking shots like he did last season you’ll be in great shape.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 9:39 pm
@Migs: Who are some of the guys available in your league? I’d go with Courtney Lee if he’s available.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 9:44 pm
@Waters: Yea man, give it a Google. You’ll see some pretty raunchy emails between Gil’s lady and the Diesel.
Danilo is one of the top 3-pt shooters in the League right now, if he’s available grab him.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 9:49 pm
    @niQ: Drop Ridnour for Dalembert.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.1 at 9:54 pm
@Joe D: Good point. You can follow me on Twitter at “Charles_Peach” and I’ll start updating more frequently with fantasy advice.

    My team is:
    Deron Williams
    Dahntay Jones
    Brandon Roy
    Ersan Ilyasova
    Danny Granger
    Andrea Bargnani
    Jermaine O’Neal
    Joakim Noah
    Gilbert Arenas
    Jeff Green
    Jason Thompson
    Lou WIlliams
    Kevin Love
I guess I can drop either Dahntay or Ilsyaova to pick up Danillo. The stats in the league are:
    FT %
    FG%
    3 pt %
    points
    boards
    assists
    blocks
    steals
    turnovers
Basically everyone in your article is available.

Cool man thanks. And it’s funny cause last night I already dropped Ridnour for Dalembert cause I heard Ridnour might be hindered by some hamstring injury or something. Although he’s been playing fairly well, Charlie Bell got more playing time last game.

  • niQ Posted: Dec.2 at 10:42 am
And Waters, wtf? How many people are you in your league? How do you have Granger, Deron, B.Roy and Arenas all in your team? Are you in an 6 or 8 person league?

  • Waters Posted: Dec.2 at 10:50 am
10 team league, most people in the league are not very active. 2 other people are active and the rest kinda stick with their drafted team, so not that much fun. My other league is real active, and I enjoy that one much much more, although I don’t have a dinner riding on that league, just pride.

  • Migs Posted: Dec.2 at 11:16 am
Thanks Charles – Courtney Lee was snapped up last week when he came back… plus I’ve got Brook Lopez and CDR on my squad – I hate having more than two players from the same team on my squad and I try to avoid it as much as possible. I’m just glad I was able to grab AI as I think he can be a huge boost to my squad. Here’s my team right now, 12 team h2h: PG/SG/SF:
    BRoy
    AI
    CDR
    JWill
    Nick Young
    Thabo
    Melo Bigs:
    Brook Lopez
    Al Jefferson
    David Lee
    Boris Diaw
    Sheed
    Gooden
    Anthony Randolph

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.2 at 11:35 am
@Waters: I’d rather have Gallinari instead of D.Jones. Hang on to Ilyasova.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.2 at 11:37 am
@niQ: Dalembert has been posting a ton of boards and blocks lately. I hope he keeps it up.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.2 at 11:48 am
@Migs: Not bad. I like your top 5; Melo, Roy, Lopez, Jefferson, & Lee. You definitely have a lot of players who could be waiver wire material though; Young, Thabo, Diaw, Sheed. Sheed was dropped in both of my leagues this week and I’m in the same kind of league – both are 12 teams h2h. Nick Young started last night, played 30 mins, but only scored 6 points. There’s only so much you can score when you’re behind Gil, Antawn, and Caron. Hang on to Randolph and CDR. Until Gooden’s production falls off, hold on to him. Closely monitor Thabo and Diaw. Hopefully they can play consistently enough to keep.

  • Migs Posted: Dec.2 at 12:08 pm
Thanks Charles.. yeah, my core is solid, it’s just all the other pieces that suck. Unfortunately, I drafted Leandro Barbosa and Tayshaun Prince.. who were subsequently dropped. I also had Brandon Rush and Chris Duhon on my team… and they were also dropped because they just plain sucked. I picked up Nick Young for Dahntay Jones, thinking that Jones would lose out on minutes cuz of Lil Dun. I went for Young because the Wiz lost Mike Miller, and I also thought he would be able to put up good numbers vs the Raptors (playing twice this week). I’ll probably hang on to him for a couple more games seeing as how there isn’t much on the waiver wire. Jared Dudley just got dropped so I might wait til he clears waivers.. although his production has fallen off quite a bit – is it cuz of Robin Lopez’s return?

  • niQ Posted: Dec.2 at 1:38 pm
    How come nothing is posting?

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.2 at 3:55 pm
@Migs: Well, you’re right about Robin Lopez, it certainly doesn’t help Dudley. Dudley could become fantasy relevant during Barbosa’s absence. Keep your eyes on him. Also, watch out for R. Lopez to challenge Frye for the starting gig. I think the two will end up essentially splitting time once Lopez is back in game shape.

  • nbk Posted: Dec.2 at 4:22 pm
    @Charles – I picked up Iverson, steal

  • niQ Posted: Dec.4 at 11:20 am
Hey Charles, someone just dropped Rip Hamilton. The only person I can drop right now (meaning my weakest link) is Stephen Curry. But, my team is pretty weak in assists and Curry has been doing fairly well with the assists. He gets 7 or 8 every now and then since all he has to do is pass to Monta and he just does the rest. Should I drop Curry for Rip Hamilton? Or just stick with Curry for the assists? Rip has recently began practising again but no return date has been scheduled. As well, I was always iffy on people just returning from injuries like manu and josh howard.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.4 at 6:04 pm
@niQ: Don’t do it. Definitely stick with Curry.

  • Waters Posted: Dec.4 at 10:01 pm
time to drop Collison? Worth it to pick up Demar DeRozan, or were the games against Washington a fluke?

  • Waters Posted: Dec.4 at 10:02 pm
By the way, read your twitter. Footie fan? Who do you have winning La Liga?

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.5 at 11:56 am
@Waters: Yeah, it’s time to part ways with Collison. I don’t think it’s DeRozan time yet. Who else is around?
I do enjoy me some football. Without sounding like too much of a bandwagon-er, I like Barca. I also cheer for Liverpool in the Premiership. Just wish I had time to see more matches.

  • Waters Posted: Dec.5 at 4:03 pm
I picked up Jerebko, he was really the only person available, and he did have a nice game last night. Nothing wrong with liking Barca, they do play a lovely brand of football. I still am shocked as to how much they gave up to get Ibrahmovic, but he is having a nice season, granted Eto’o is putting on a nice show as well. Liverpool is in real trouble this year unless they get their game back on, but right now I think they have to be playing for Champions League qualification, they are too far back to catch Chelsea or Man United. Man City’s win today did make the title race so much more intriguing. I am an Arsenal fan, which is entirely due to Berkgamp. If you need a good site to download games or just get goal highlights, use rojadirecta.com. Links to torrents for full match downloads.

  • Charles Peach Posted: Dec.6 at 1:51 am
@Waters: Nice pickup with Jerebko. Though beware Prince & Hamilton could return soon, so that would hinder his output. Thanks for the website, I’ll be sure to use that. You’re right about Liverpool, I hope they clinch the Top-4!

  • Waters Posted: Dec.6 at 10:07 am
I ended up just dropping Dahntay and picking up the ghostface pryzbilla. Danillo was snatched up after his 27 point outburst. In about 2 or 3 weeks I plan on dropping Pryzbilla or someone else anyway to pick up Kevin Martin, don’t want to pick him up too early, but I don’t want to miss out on him either. I just went on yesterday and noticed rojadirecta also has a ton of NBA games too, in the middle of downloading Bernard King’s 60 point game now.

  • Waters Posted: Dec.6 at 5:12 pm
BY the way, CDR just got dropped, worth dropping pryzbilla to pick up CDR? Would you take CDR over Ilsayova?
