Jamaal Tinsley is a Memphis Grizzly

The Grizzlies signed Tinsley, in a move that may signal the end of the very short Allen Iverson Era in Memphis (though management says that’s not the case): “Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace oversees a team that is shaky at the point and has little to no leadership in the locker room. The hope is that veteran floor general Jamaal Tinsley provides an upgrade in both of those areas.  Wallace insisted Saturday that signing Tinsley to a one-year, veteran’s minimum deal had nothing to do with Allen Iverson’s weeklong leave of absence due to personal reasons. Either way, Iverson still isn’t with the team and starting point guard Mike Conley entered Saturday’s game against Minnesota as the weakest link to a 1-8 start to the season. ‘We just felt that (Tinsley’s) experience and playmaking ability could be of benefit to us,’ Wallace said. “So we reached out to him. … He’s an accomplished playmaker. We felt that it was a chance to buy some insurance at that position.”‘

The Griz have given up on winning so they are building a team that will work well for a reality t.v. show.

They tried for Marbury but he’s too busy sitting in the wrong seats at knicks games.

They tried for Marbury but he’s too busy sitting in the wrong seats at knicks games and getting ready for his big come-back next year.

at least they are starting to see that Conley isn’t the answer at PG.

You know, AI is being the biggest punk right now, being paid millions and “not going to work.” And as for Conley, I never saw him as a starting point guard (in the NBA) to begin with.

I’m still voting Iverson to start in the All-Star game.

Damn, the grizz will never win anithing but, last year signed DMiles and now The Abuser….what a GM!…..
can’t wait for Smush and Booger Smith replacing Mayo and Conley!

  • ciroqobama Posted: Nov.16 at 4:22 pm
The Grizz are like the classic Jailblazers, except they’re not good.

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers Posted: Nov.16 at 4:52 pm
lol…now trade Gasol Mayo and Gay for Al Harrington Eddy Curry and Jared Jefries and your GM of the year!

Looking through the article, it noted that Tinsley wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting spot (with Conely as the weakest link 1 through 8…ya think?), but it would be an “open invitation” to work his way into it. My thought is that if he gets an “open invitation” for the opportunity to start, it would have been a GIVEN that A.I. should have started….
what is up with Memphis (and Golden State no less)?

was jamaal tinsley not up and coming 3 years ago?

  • tavoris Posted: Nov.17 at 9:17 am
Dacre, also note that Memphis said that this signing had nothing to do with Iverson’s future (altho he was waived the next day). Does ANYBODY these days takes the NBA media machine (and their perpetual “damage control”) to heart?

furthermore, any coach (Hollins) who hasn’t told his players their roles IS NOT DOING HIS JOB.
