Manu Ginobili to Get Rabies Shots

Following his “incident” with a bat this past weekend (which has gotten PETA all hot and bothered), the Spurs didn’t want to take any chances: “Manu Ginobili’s Halloween run-in with a bat made for entertaining news fodder for a few days. Ginobili, however, isn’t laughing anymore. Team officials could not locate the bat after Saturday’s game against Sacramento, so it could not be tested for disease. Which meant Ginobili will spend the next month getting a series of precautionary shots to protect against rabies. ‘It was pretty funny at the time,’ Ginobili said before practice this afternoon. ‘Now, it’s not. I have to get like a million shots.”‘

So if you TOUCH a bat that MIGHT have a disease, you have rabies? smh…

If you want your blood pressure to skyrocket, go ahead and read that PETA blog post and the comments too.

wow, talk about precautious! did the stupid thing manage to bite him as he hit it?! i thought that was how rabies was transmitted… a series of shots over a month?! i thought it was a one-shot job. mind you, i’ve never been known as Dr. SAB…

btw, yeah, that PETA post is hilarious. wtf did they want him to do?!?! “slammed the bat to the ground” – yeah right, that’s not how i saw it. lol, idiots…

I wonder who took the bat away and what they did with it? As soon as he hit it and the trainer came over and looked at his hand and saw the little puncture marks, the first thing I thought was they better get that bat tested. Rabies is really common with bats and the consequences of not gettng treated for it can be a lot worse than not getting treated. It sucks to go through it, but better safe than sorry. And, PETA is just being over the top. I agree with thier mission to protect animals etc, but they should take into consideration the circumstances. This is how organizations like them become less credible in the eyes of the public.

    ^True.

I wonder if anyone would be upset if PETA were banned from their “work”?

LOL @ the Peta commenter who wrote “Would it be okay if a baby ran onto the court and he slammed the baby? Why is a human life regarded with SO much respect and a non human’s so disposable?” Stupid people.

First PETA can suck a fat one. These evil people care about freaking animals more than people. Where were these clowns when bodies where floating in the N.O. and when prisoners in gitmo where being tortured huh. Bunch of clowns. F**K PETA and F**K animals.

    LOL @ PETA

lol @ Moose… he probably smacked the bat in the mouth and any possible skin puncture is worthy of rabies shots if you can’t test the bat.

    From the PETA blog:

“why is a human life regarded with SO much respect and a non human’s so disposable”

HAHAHAHA, its because humans dont taste as good as animals, thats why…

  • Rome

I wonder why theres no outrage for all the insects mistakingly stepped on as people go about their daily tasks? Maybe we now need insect rights advocates…

“Not to mention they sprayed his hands with hand sanitizer immediately following. Think of the germs that are being killed!!!! We shouldn’t let that happen.”
