Report: Stephen Jackson Traded to Charlotte

by Marcel Mutoni / @marcel_mutoni

The Stephen Jackson nightmare has apparently come to an end in Golden State…And he’s now a Charlotte Bobcat. Eat your heart out, Larry Brown!

Yahoo! has the scoop:

“The Golden State Warriors have agreed in principle to send Stephen Jackson to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic, NBA sources said Monday morning.

The deal also would send Warriors guard Acie Law to the Bobcats.”

Vlad and Raja can come off the books at the end of the season, so the Warriors are killing two birds with one stone so to speak. And, well, Stephen Jackson is still owed close $30 million over three more seasons. Yikes

Michael Jordan the GM, ladies and germs.

How can you be such a great player and such a terrible GM??? L

  • L

    And yes first..L

  • http://slamonline.com Brad Long

Is it like a tradition ever couple of years for the Warriors to ship their best player to the Bobcats for virtually nothing? Jason Richardson in his prime ring a bell?

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

They certainly need offense. SJax will score 25+ in Charlotte.

  • neaorin

MJ probably thought he was trading for Phil Jackson.

  • Jacqueline Mitchell

This has certainly been an eventful Monday morning, can’t wait to see what’s next!!!

  • http://www.twitter.com/notebooknick thesubwayconnection

Really? I don’t see how he’s a good fit, except that they need scoring. Hopefully he gets used well. My fantasy team depends on it.

  • tavoris

Well, he’s a good enuf scorer & defender to stay in Larry Brown’s good graces. However, I see a weird overlap in skills between Jax, Wallace, and Diaw. Also, why give up your two most reliable perimeter shooters (and financial flexibility) for a guy that does what Wallace does?

  • Chazz Michael Michaels

I think Stephen Jackson would’ve gone great in New Orleans. I also think New Orleans should keep Okafor, should’ve traded for Jackson, (and with the firing of Scott) signed Avery Johnson, the ex-coach of the Mavs, to a coaching gig in N.O.
New Orleans needs shooters, now needs coaching, and needs running big men. I love watching Chris Paul and hope things work out down in the Big Easy, but I have a feeling the Hornets will have a season like the Suns had last year…

  • ciroqobama

Hahaha- I thought he wanted to go to a contender? Talk about your all-time backfire.

  • dj

this = playoffs 4 the cats

  • dj

and a 1st round exit but its still plaoffs

  • Jas

Good trade for the Bobcats. They now have a true 2-guard, and might make the playoffs.

so much for jack’s request to go to a contender.

  • http://shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Cheryl

    Retire Jordan’s phone.

  • solito

It is news, so it should be posted here, but we should stop commenting all together on guys like this (same goes for any AI story), and set a new comment record on the Brandon Jennings post. Level headed and tallented… Sky’s the limit. Hope we only saw a glimps of things to come.

My fantasy team last year consisted of Gerald Wallace, Stephen Jackson, and Tyson Chandler. Just saying.

  • The D Train

I wouldn’t put it past Don Nelson to make sure that Jax did not go to a contender just out of spite. Crazy Old Nellie is sly like a fox, and sounds like kind of an a-hole, too. The Larry Brown-Jax experiment should be fun to watch, at least.

  • cramzy

The cats filled a need without giving up much but that 30 mill over the next 3 years could haunt them. They’ll be competitive.

  • skeeter

    iiiiiiiiiits Vlad Time!

  • http://myspace.com/rsaenz24 rog123

Stephen jax can ball! So that’s really all that ,matters. He will be happy to be out of gs

  • http://myspace.com/brandnew Bryan

I don’t actually see a problem with this they have some good pieces what they need a fire scorer and stack is that and he’s a good defender and he will get in their ass if they don’t play hard. Good move for the betcats.

  • Aaron

Another missed attempt by Ferry to add talent to the Cavs’ roster. I mean afterall, Jax adds two things that the Cavs desperately need: another creator on offense and a perimeter defender. Ferry’s stubborness to add talent in favor of keeping team chemistry is going to be the ultimate downfall for this team, as well as to losing LeBron. They will not be able to compete with other elite teams with a starting lineup that includes Parker and Hickson. Hopefully, Ferry has something bigger in mind (David West), if not then he really blew this opportunity.

  • smakk

    SORRY CAVS!

I actually think S.Jax will be good for the Bobcats. I think he’s a huge upgrade from Raja Bell at the shooting guard position. But on the other hand, I’m laughing at the fact he requested to be on a contender and ended up in Charlotte. I’m guessing Don Nelson chose the team as a goodbye gift for him.

Larry Brown didn’t do too well with the pride of Coney Island…let’s see if he has better luck with one of PA’s Finest…

  • Cizzo

    I’m thinking, why should comment!

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

This will not end well. / Aaron: have you seen Hickson play lately? Mo Williams is SUPPOSED to create offense for himself. And he did during the regular season. He just totally crapped the bed vs Orlando. But make no mistake, that’s his role. He is the 2nd banana.

  • JOMAY

    Cizzo U Suck!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

They are going to trade him again at the deadline, I think.

  • davidR

well, he was the best facilitator the warriors had. hopefully the warriors figured out how to move the ball to scorers in position

  • riggs

so many great comments in this thread, im cracking up

  • http://allanzuss@yahoo.com Mendel

and they cant afford to get Iverson?

  • http://slamonline.com Russ Bengtson

Poor Acie Law IV. Form sitting behind Jack, Monta and Steph Curry to sitting behind Jack, Felton and DJ. The world can be a cruel place.

  • http://www.garrettelliott.com Garrett

This is what I say to Stephen Jackson:

And this is what I say to Charlotte:

    http://www.pacdudegames.com/fail

  • JB

Vlad = near tahoe = uh oh

  • tavoris

meanwhile, Nelson is trying to figure out how to start Raja Bell at center

  • http://www.theonion.com/content/news/staten_island_historians_piece Lee

Wow Monta Ellis, way to f**k that one up.

  • Citizen Kane

How can Michael Jordan be such an horrible GM???

  • Hoodsnake

Thote charlottes plan this season was to clear cap money? Oh well

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

Well, at least, Acie Law won’t have to play the 3. And people are still wondering if Nelson shows up to work drunk.

  • Clark

Vlad seems perfect for GS. I think Raja Bell will be traded or waived, GS doesn’t allow it’s players to play defense so Raja is worthless…. Only thing good about this for Raja is that there are a lot of vegetarian places in the Bay Area…

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

Allenp: What makes you think they will trade him at the deadline?

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

this HAS to sting a little for jax too. no contender thought he was worthy of breaking up their team to get him. ego check.

  • tavoris

TADOne, because the Bob Johnson is trying to sell the team ASAP. He’s gonna probably put up good numbers up until then-and somebody will knock with an offer of an expiring contract.

  • ENDS

Jordan would’ve traded for Michael Jackson

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

They gave up two expiring deals to get him, so that makes no sense.

  • davidR

jack wouldve been perfect for the hornets. of course the warriors wouldve taken a whack player off their hands

  • L

I Would AI for this year for 3Mil then SJAX for 30 mil for the next three seasons. AI would have been a great fit at the two and would have brought instant offence. SJax is to bring instant trouble…

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

stephen jackson does this one thing larry brown likes that iverson doesn’t. defense, which is half the game. Jackson also passes better, and shoots better, and causes LESS problems. although its close
