Ron Artest Had a Rough Thanksgiving

Artest and his sister are under investigation for welfare fraud. After the story was published on Thanksgiving, Ron-Ron took to Twitter to vent about the media disturbing his holiday: “Do you think the state of Indiana wants Ron Artest in Jail? Or do They want my Half sister in Jail? Was there another way to handle this? Ron Artest fraud? I just gave out multiple scholarships to American citizens, and fed cancer patients at a LA hospital for thanksgiving. Why did the state of Indiana have to bother this Black family on thanksgiving? Couldn’t it wait until tomorrow?”

If Latoya failed to report her income that was supported by Ron, Why should Ron be the one which held accountable?

  • Royal Posted: Nov.27 at 10:44 am
SESA: Because he is black and has made something of his life

Twitter is just poison to these athletes. When will they get it??

Artest is NOT held accountable. Read the article.

It didn’t say anyone was being investigated for being black. I’m pretty sure the report said that he and sister were being investigated for something called ‘Welfare Fraud’. And if he didn’t know she was pulling welfare checks while he supported her, he didn’t do anything wrong and has nothing to worry about. Doing good deeds is supposed to be it’s own reward, not a way to improve your image so that you’re not accountable.

@360: Yes, and it goes hand in hand with integrity.

Why did the writer write “Black family.”?? I’m struggling to see why there was an emphasis put on the color of the family?…

  • LeeVan Posted: Nov.27 at 1:47 pm
@CDub23KB24: The writer used the term “black family” because the writer was Ron Artest, and he felt like using it.
It appears as though you were also “struggling to see” the the format of the story, as well as the quotation marks that surrounded about 2/3 of it.

    It’s all just a big conspiracy? YEAAAHH….

  • Ronald Posted: Nov.28 at 2:59 am
urgh…this was an extremely badly written story. it completely ignored the fact that RonRon seems to have been complaining against the report from IndyStar from pestering him. In addition, the writer of this article should have editted the quotes so they are a bit easier to read.

Wow, most of you seem unable to actually read. Complaining about the “poorly written article” makes you sound like morons. This is not an article. The underlined parts are called hyperlinks, and they will take you to an actual article, printed in an actual newspaper. The “poorly written article” you are complaining about are just quotes from Artest’s Twitter feed. If you had taken the time to read the actual article, you’d know that Ron is not under investigation at all, since he did nothing wrong. His half-sister may be under investigation at a later date, if she did fail to disclose monetary gifts from Ron. Learn to read people.

It’s nice that Ron is doing something to help his family. It’s sad that his name is being used to make this a story and that her ‘privacy’ is being envaded because who her half-brother is. Single woman with three kids is on section 8 – similar story as millions. She get’s some financial help from her and now she’s in the paper. Certain stroies just don’t need to be written, this is one of them.

  • [...] the course of the past few months, Ron Artest has been all over the news. For good reasons, not so good reasons and no real reason. And, far as I can tell, as long as Artest’s in Hollywood, get used to [...]
