The Return of the ‘Real’ Gilbert Arenas

According to Gil — in an effort to reverse his team’s fortunes — it’s time to have some fun again. On the first night of the new (old) personality, things didn’t go according to plan: “The new persona didn’t translate into on-court success. Aside from the season-opening 29-point, nine-assist performance in a victory over Dallas and a 32-point, seven-assist game in a win over New Jersey, Arenas largely has been disappointing. In six losses heading into Saturday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons, Arenas averaged 21.8 points but owned a .383 shooting clip while turning the ball over 5.3 times a game. Arenas did away with his angry self Saturday night, proclaiming before the matchup with Detroit that he was going back to having fun and that Agent Zero and the Hibachi would return. But aside from a buzzer-beating 33-foot 3-pointer at halftime, the Agent Zero heroics remained missing in action.”

I’m glad he’s ditching his “angry man” act. Arenas remains quite a character, but that’s what makes him one of my favorite players.

It’s a concern alright.. ATL have gotten better (from last season, Miami also) and if it wasn’t for Clevelands slow start and Philly’s on again-off again success or Detroits struggles with their new identity and injuries Washingtons up hill battle would look closer to scaling Mt Everest - Unfortunately I think the Wizards are actually WORSE than things look right now…if it wasn’t for a general slow start to alot of the East teams (how are Boston losing ANY games right now??) they would be a bad team looking horrible.
      Lets go Wiz!

Wait, which Gil is the ‘real’ Gil? The blogger, the resident on the IL, or the ‘volume-scorer’? Incidently, Doc Rivers has got a good problem. Balancing starter minutes against a really good bench. I don’t think he’s got it worked out yet, but when he does, I look for the C’s to reel off some loooong win streaks.

Instead of agent zero, he is now agent 3 for 17.
