5th Straight DNP Coming Up for Nate

New York is on a three-game winning streak, which coach Mike D’Antoni clearly believes has something to do with Robinson being planted on the bench. As such, nothing is going to change: “The Knicks keep winning — and Nate Robinson keeps sitting. Coach Mike D’Antoni said yesterday that Robinson would sit again tonight when the Knicks visit New Orleans. That would make it five straight DNPs for the banished guard. Robinson didn’t feel like answering questions yesterday, but stopped long enough to say he was ‘hanging in there.’ D’Antoni has used rookie Toney Douglas in Robinson’s place, and that should continue tonight. ‘I’m not gonna switch up anything,’ D’Antoni said when asked if he had any thoughts of re-inserting Robinson …  D’Antoni added lukewarm praise for Robinson’s recent practices, saying, ‘He’s playing hard, doing fine. He’s doing what he’s supposed to do.’ That’s not good enough, apparently, to get back on the court.”

Wow, D’Antoni is basically saying “your playing is going to be detrimental to our success”.

  • Lebran

Nate must realise that to be as small as he is and play in the L, you gotta have that heart. Look at Muggsy. Dude still has one of the best assist/turnover ratio’s in the L’s history, little guy wore his fingers to the bone every game. Charlotte loved him and he produced, but being half the size he had to have double the hustle.

Nate is resting on his laurels. That dunk contest fame gets straight to a mans head.

Lebran: I dont think nates heart is the thing in question ( anyone that has played in the NBA who is under 6’1 has to have heart), I think it is his attitude(not sure if I spelled that right) and out of control way of playing that his coach hates.

Baah. your not going anywhere… play em. Start him actually. Play him 40 mins. it would be funny. and thats all i expect from this organization/

Mike D has always been a short rotation guy (7-8 dudes MAX, everybody playing over 20 mins). He’s also known as KEEPING dudes in the doghouse. In short, time to ask for a trade Nate.

Why would Nate ask for a trade? He’s living in New York, the greatest city in America, getting paid by a team where a lot of his close, close friends play (he’s clearly BFFs with Lee and Harrington). Sure, he would love to go out there and play, but why should he force his hand and move to Charlotte? Keep on D’Antoni’s good side, injury may get him back in there.

I’d love to have him on my team so I can tell him to jump over me to dunk before standing up while he was in mid air and laying his punk ass out.

Yeah, because Nate Robinson is the reason the Knicks won’t make the playoffs. It has nothing to do with how sh*tty the actual team is…or the fact that D’Antoni can only coach a team loaded with All-Stars.

  • knickerbonkers

    Free Nate.

  • ab_40

who cares I don’t miss him at all. von wafer is coming back to the us. can’t they perform a trade? haha

  • LeoneL

Let him play with the second string guys…let the other four guys defend and depend on Nate for instant offense.

It’ll be interesting to see who seeks his services this summer.

Jukai: yeah but they’ll both be gone next year anyway so why not get traded to a team that will play him so he can show out for his never contract?

  • tavoris

Nate is getting the “marbury treatment” right now.

  • Seven Duece

It all came to a head when he shot that ball at the opposing teams’ basket that one game.

  • http://none The Philosopher

Pound for pound, Nate Robinson is the greatest pure athlete in NBA history.

  • B-More Mike

Anton has it right. Nate is the same way on 2k, when he’s in the game he shoots bad shots even for a video game. And when he’s out the game the knicks aren’t half bad. He brings it on himself with antics and attitude, like Russ said it’s going to be interesting who even gives thought to having this cancer on their team except for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

  • B-More Mike

    Or FC Barcelona!

  • http://www.sixers.com 360vue

Nate’s not an ideal player to coach, he’s a bit of a livewire but Mike is showing he can’t hack it, Nate really isn’t exactly a tough character to crack… Knicks should be better with him than without and that’s the bottom line… D’Antoni can’t hack tough situations

  • B-More Mike

    Nate A$$!!!!

  • Teddy-the-Bear

D’Antoni is a pretty big jerk to Nate right now.
And if Toney Douglas is supposed to replace Nate, WHY ISN’T DOUGLAS PLAYING?!?!

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Harrington, Lee, Chandler, Gallinari, and Douglas should all be kept after 2010.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

One of the things I really dislike about D’Antoni’s coaching is his refusal to develop rookies. Douglas has shown real potential but the coach won’t freaking play him.
Duhon is playing pretty well as of late and I’m happy for him, but who knows how he’ll fair near the end of the season?

  • http://www.euroleagueadventures.com Nick Gibson

Honestly, if Nate can’t play for D’Antoni, and Don Nelson’s a few bad calls away from a serious heart condition, then what’s left for him? Cornerback?

  • ClydeSays

Robinson should be their SG off the bench. Asking him to run the team or make plays is asking too much of him.

I can see Nate playing oversees or nailed to someone elses bench for the Vet minimum next year.

  • rivvvetting

@ClydeSays: OK bud. Let’s watch 5-9 Nate guard 6-6 Kobe or 6-7 Iguodala and we’ll see if he can play 2. Jeez.

  • http://slamonline.com Dave

@rivvetting: He’s on the Knicks and coached by D’Antoni, why would he be defending?

  • http://slamonline.com Dave

@Philosopher: Wilt was pound for pound best athlete in NBA history. Yes, all 300 of them.

Anton, you know I love you, but you can’t front on Nate. Unless you’re over 7′, dude is going to jump right over you, even if you’re standing and at full extention. Also, co-sign 360vue.
