D-Wade: Tyreke Evans is the Best Rookie

According to Wade, out of everyone, Evans is having the best rookie campaign: “He’s a good young player,” Wade said. “He has the most complete game, as a rookie, in the league. When you talk about the best rookies, he has the most complete game. He can do it all. He’s a great player. They have a good pick in him.”

    Dislike

    agreed!

  • Epsilon Nupe Posted: Dec.7 at 9:14 am
well Evan’s averages 19.9 5 reb and 4.9 ast. I would say wade is right, but Brandon is giving out 21 pts 3.9 reb and 5.8 ast. Complete player goes to Evans maybe but its hard to downplay 55 points in an NBA game

Wade’s ankles will be broken next time he plays the Bucks.

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.7 at 9:47 am
Tyreke is a bit more well rounded and can play in the post too….he’s a more complete scorer for sure.

    *TWO THUMBS UP*

  • Shem Posted: Dec.7 at 10:17 am
I really like Brandon Jennings but he’s right. Tyreke Evans is definetly more consistent. Brandon Jennings might drop 55 pts (which dont get me wrong is insane especially for a rook) but there are games where he’ll drop 6 shooting 2/9

  • niQ Posted: Dec.7 at 10:17 am
What if Tyreke and Jennings BOTH end up with the award?

  • AlbertBarr Posted: Dec.7 at 10:19 am
Agreed. @Epsilon: It’s hard to downplay 55 but Tyreke is REALLY good. I think that opposing teams would rather deal with an undersized jumpshooter(Jennings) than with a big strong fast gguard who can get to the rack and finish in traffic. My favorite part of Tyreke’s game is his free throw shooting. When he was asked about it after a recent Pacers game he said “I love the free throw line, everyone trying to get in your head talkin trash.” He likes that! He was pretty money from the line last night as well…the Heat are just a better team. Big guys disappeared early and it was hard to close the gap and close it out.

Shem- when has Brandon ever scored 6 points on 2/9 shooting?

  • LeoneL Posted: Dec.7 at 10:37 am
    Tyreke’s been flirting with a triple-double a lot.

  • DDB Posted: Dec.7 at 10:46 am
As the weeks go on, Brandon’s scoring average will drop. It had a solid boost from the 55 point game but night-in, night-out, Tyreke has been better. Tyreke is bigger and stronger and is more of a threat in just about every facet of the game. Chester, PA let’s go!

  • niQ Posted: Dec.7 at 10:55 am
    Tyreke is Lebron-lite.

  • OfficialEdgar Posted: Dec.7 at 11:18 am
    Brandon Jennings best rookie PG

  • Colin Posted: Dec.7 at 12:09 pm
For what it is worth Evans ate Jennings up in pre-draft workouts. I realize that is a one-on-one situation, but it is still the truth.

  • knickerbonkers Posted: Dec.7 at 1:04 pm
would not a squad with Tyreke Evans PG, DWade SG,lebron james SF, Dwight Howard C, and maybe Amare at PF be the strongest pound for pound team in the league. Yes I know also the brokest owner in league im just sayin…..

  • niQ Posted: Dec.7 at 1:26 pm
@knickerbonkers, no, put dwade at PG then Kobe at SG then you’re good.

  • niQ Posted: Dec.7 at 1:27 pm
wait. there’s still chris paul and melo. But whatev, that’s the Olympic team right there.

  • B-zog Posted: Dec.7 at 1:45 pm
I think tyreke is a stud but Mr.Flynn is going to be more productive now that k-love is back I betcha the wolves go on a run soon Mr.Flynn MVP

  • BeeBopLIVE Posted: Dec.7 at 2:19 pm
I think teams zone in on brandon jennings bc of his scoring and they do the same 4 tyreke I personally think they might pull a kidd/hill bc this is 2 close 2 call

  • NAS Posted: Dec.7 at 2:44 pm
what d-wade is saying is “i wish we would have a high pick last year and gotten tyreke instead of micheal b-crazy

  • nbk Posted: Dec.7 at 3:06 pm
johnny flynn is the Darko of this draft class. Not gonna be as epic of a failure but when you take into account who he was picked infront of it will be pretty bad. I don’t understand how 1 huge game can convince NBA scouts a guy is going to dominate at the next level. especially a guy like johnny flynn who can’t really shoot, can’t really distribute, isn’t very good at defense. hes quick athletic and explosive. hello nate robinson

  • Jdubc Posted: Dec.7 at 4:09 pm
@ knickerbockers ..that dream team you put up im sure a team with the likes of Kobe, Artest, Odom, Gasol, Bynum can handle…but wait a minute, that is a real team. get real!

  • Robb Posted: Dec.7 at 4:12 pm
totally true! D Wade knows best

  • Z Posted: Dec.7 at 5:14 pm
i’d say b jennings is a better passer AND scorer than reke. reke is still pretty good tho.

  • Hursty Posted: Dec.7 at 8:00 pm
I love Jennings’ game - but he IS inconsistent.
Scott Skiles likes him too. He’s kinda notorious for not playing rookies unless they’re exceptional players.
But now he’s been forced to play Luke Ridnour 30mpg, when Luke played only 15 about 2 weeks ago.
Evans just seeems more in control, more poised and confident in GENERAL. In some areas of the game, Jennings is better. No doubt.
But Evans AT THIS STAGE of the season, IMO is more consistent both with his play, and statistically.

  • STEVIE GEE Posted: Dec.7 at 11:55 pm
Lets not forget that brandon droped 55 on the warriors, zero defense!! TYREKE EVANS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR HANDS DOWN!!

  • rushmelo Posted: Dec.8 at 3:56 am
tyreke evans is the most complete rookie.he is a true scorer and does a potential best of everything else.lets not forget sacramento wasn’t supposed to be like this.still after martin has been out with injury its nice to see those young guys play hard.
    the main point is actually
that blake griffin has been outta the limelight
    wait till he gets back.
that 8th seed in the western conference is up for grabs!
and as far as the ROY is concerned.
    CO-ROY
    tyreke evans and brandon jennings

  • JoeMaMa Posted: Dec.8 at 6:06 am
Raptors should’ve traded up for Evans; our pick and Calderon or SOMEthing like that.
    Sigh.

  • J Posted: Dec.8 at 7:37 am
    a “lebron v. kobe” of rookie PG’s? though jennings has a kobe-esque scoring but a Bron-like passing/playmaking. Tyreke has a Bron-like scoring(except FT) but a kobe-esque passing/playmaking, not to downgrade kobe’s passing ability.

  • J Posted: Dec.8 at 7:44 am
my bad reke is under 80% at the line (both of them actually)

  • Rob B Posted: Dec.9 at 7:01 am
It’s gonna be a co ROY this year. No doubt. But overall game head to head, you have to realize that Reke is the only scorer that the Kings have. Jennings doesn’t have to do all of the work, although he has shown that he can take over a game, The big men in Milwaukee have stepped up. I’m sure if he didn’t have the support, the Bucks wouldn’t have the wins they do, and Jennings would have stats like another number 3. Named AI

  • JTreke Posted: Dec.30 at 10:48 pm
I think Wade is true because he his also a player and he knows what the players strength and weaknesses because they play on the hardwood. Evans stats is the best for all rookies. 20.3ppg 5.1rpg 4.9apg 1.5spg 0.5bpg compare to Jennings 19.5ppg 3.8rpg 6.1apg 1.0spg 0.3bpg Evans are defensive player more than Jennings not even in the stats even in individual defense like Bruce Bowen. LOL

  • JTreke Posted: Dec.30 at 11:01 pm
haha.who shot the game winner for the Kings vs Bucks game.its REKE HAVOC and made a great comeback against the former Memphis Tigers Derrick Rose of Bulls.
