Knicks Interested in D.J. Augustin?

There’s chatter in New York that the Knicks may be discussing some kind of deal with Charlotte about its young point guard: “Charlotte’s D.J. Augustin is currently struggling with Brown’s Play The Right Way edict, which could be a good thing for the Knicks. Augustin remains a player of interest for the Knicks, who, according to a team source, had extensive talks last season with the Bobcats regarding a deal for the second-year guard out of Texas. ‘He was part of a bigger deal,’ the source said. ‘But I know the Knicks like him very much.’ Knicks president Donnie Walsh declined to discuss his level of interest in Augustin, although it is no secret that Walsh and Brown, friends for many years, talk regularly. According to a source, Brown is open to trading Augustin but has been overruled by Michael Jordan. ‘He hasn’t defended like he needs to defend,’ Brown said recently. ‘He hasn’t made shots. He hasn’t distributed the ball.’ Brown was saying some of those same things four years ago about Nate Robinson, who is now buried on Mike D’Antoni’s bench. A Robinson-for-Augustin deal is unlikely because the salaries don’t match and because Robinson would have to agree to the deal.”

Well, Mike D is enamored with DJ. He’d probably do a better “poor man’s Nash” better than Duhon.

After a decade of shoot-first pgs, now they’re going after guys that only pass? Where’s the happy medium?

  • Krishan Posted: Dec.15 at 9:39 am
    How about douglas for augustin?

  • Hussman25 Posted: Dec.15 at 9:44 am
Or Jordan Hill and or Douglas for D.J.??? Charlotte needs bigs???

  • tavoris Posted: Dec.15 at 9:56 am
how about they just play the young guys & their bigs? Darko’s a bust, but at least he TRIES on D. And Curry may be slow, but he can score in the post.

I wouldn’t give up both Hill and Douglas for Augustin at this point, but I’m sure there is something that can be worked out.

Nah both rooks for dj would be a bad idea. They already have nazr, chandler and diaw, so I though after losing bell and consequently augustin, they’ll need a combo guard to cover both loses. Plus, I don’t think the knicks are done yet with humiliating hill.

Curry for DJ. Brown had Curry playing the best ball of his career.

  • niQ Posted: Dec.15 at 10:44 am
I remember Raptors were thinking of drafting DJ, but that was before they found out they had first pick. He definitely could flourish in another team. But I’m not sure if the Knicks would be that team since D’Antoni has a mancrush on Duhon.

Rookies & second year players don’t develop until after 3-years so before saying Jordan Hill is a bust or whatever…these young players need more minutes, practice and time for growth/maturity. Now, D.J. Augustin would DEF be an upgrade over Chris Duhon but who are we going to give -up for him? Nate hasn’t been so great as if late but he’s still an awesome athlete & jersey/ticket seller. I’d stick with what we have now and use this season to decide who we really want to keep or let go…LEBRON JAMES #23 NEW YORK KNICKS 2010…I am on my knees praying to the Basketball Gods!

DO NOT TRADE TONEY DOUGLAS FOR DJ AUGUSTIN. WHY IS DONNIE WALSH STILL THE GENERAL MANAGER?

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Dec.15 at 2:50 pm
Assuming he wants to give up Douglas.

  • tavoris Posted: Dec.15 at 3:17 pm
GOOD JOB WITH THE INTERNAL RHYME, http://www.thekonglistcom...”Nate hasn’t been so great as if late”

  • BETCATS Posted: Dec.15 at 4:31 pm
We need a big. David Lee for DJ or bust!

  • Loqui Posted: Dec.15 at 6:24 pm
Walsh is a good GM so he wont trade our rooks for DJ. It would have to be a 3way trade since numbers don’t add up. Whatever it is, I really want Duhon out, HE SUCKS!

  • Tim Posted: Dec.15 at 6:34 pm
I think Nate would agree to going to charlotte for a year, he would get more game time … WOW.. wait a minute didnt Larry brown bench nate as a rookie
    well that was short lived

  • Shem Posted: Dec.15 at 7:03 pm
There isn’t one player the bobcats would take from the knicks due to salary, skill or contract length. The knicks have to hope they pick up a good free agent or jordan hill is the next Tim Duncan.. he’s the next olowakandi if you ask me

  • Matt Posted: Dec.15 at 7:58 pm
Bryan, Isiah Thomas gets busted so much that you have to give him credit when credit is due. Brown did not get Curry to play amazing ball, it was Thomas that coached him during his best season. Brown couldn’t stand Curry.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Dec.15 at 10:58 pm
Curry averaged 20.7 ppg one year in Chicago.. Whoa.

  • chintao Posted: Dec.16 at 3:46 am
“Come on, Teddy. Touch it!” LOL. Anyway, the biggest bust on the Knicks’ bench is not Darko. It’s Pringles.

  • whitey Posted: Dec.16 at 9:58 am
if they are interested and the bobcats are willing to trade him then do it this kid has great potential!
