Knicks ‘Intrigued’ by Tracy McGrady

T-Mac may end up landing where all former stars go to rot away: New York, naturally: “Mike D’Antoni Tuesday admitted being ‘intrigued’ by the possibility of adding Tracy McGrady, a player the Houston Rockets have agreed to trade. McGrady, who is in the last year of his deal, is earning a league-high $23million this season. His expiring contract makes him appealing to just about every team in the league, including the Rockets, who may simply allow his deal to run out. The Knicks would love to package either Jared Jeffries or Eddy Curry to acquire McGrady, which would give the club additional cap space this summer to sign two free agents – perhaps LeBron James and Chris Bosh or Joe Johnson – to max contracts.”

This is like the Russians sending Karl Marx to Albania all over-again.
Oh, the memories haunt me still!
    *begins weeping*

We should just send him to Washington for Caron Butler and a pick+cash. It’d work financially, try using ESPN’s trade machine if you like…

Then we could use that pick (likely lottery) to grab an athletic back-up C in the draft. Either that or trade it for someone like Brad Miller or Nazr Mohammed, reliable, solid back-ups.

Would T-mac and Lebron make good teammates? What’s the chemistry on that?

This is the same team that just sgned Jonathan Bender so……..DUH!

Unfortunately a perfect fit: An iffy player who has had a couple of breakout seasons with the “potential” to do so once again matched with a once powerful and proud team. I want NY to be among the top teams again and so does D. Stern and that is why James to NY is a very strong possibility and he may be will to sell his sole for it to happen or at least give James a very large amount of back room money to go there..hhhmmm (that was for the conspiracy fans. LOL)

Lets get one thing straight: no one is too washed up to suck for the knicks. Though I personally think mac can still play and play well. Especially for a run and gun team like the Knicks. He can’t be worse than Larry Hughes.

  • Kendrick is God

    trade him for nate

  • ClydeSays

The Knicks are only ‘intrigued’ by his 23 mil expiring contract.

  • MikeC.

C’mon Rockets, you gotta fall for this one!!! Please send McGrady to NY for Eddy Curry, Nate and other filler. Make this happen!!!!! Just for this season, NY can change its team name to the New York EC’s (Expiring Contracts).

  • derrick

i would love to see ny back on the map for 2010. hate the way d-antoni is black balling nate, but there are two sides to every story. (i guess shooting at an opponents hoop is the other side. mcgrady and a 1st rounder for curry lee and nate. lee would look nice with yao in 2010.

    knicks are intrigued by everyone

  • mems

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! DONT DO IT HOUSTON!!!

  • Teddy-the-Bear

T-Mac for David Lee intrigues me. Lee could play center and Landry/Scola could play power forward at this point.
As both a Knicks and Rockets fan, I’m not sure how I feel about this.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

WHY IS LARRY HUGHES STILL ON THE KNICKS?!

  • Reflex

Houston management aren’t stupid, there’s not much value in them dealing with NYK especially when garbage like Curry is being mooted. The best option they have at hand is to let TMacs contract to expire. People forget, that’s an extra $23m Houston will have to play with in next year’s free for all, perhaps they’re gonna go for LeBron/Bosh/Boozer etc themselves

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

you should feel bad for NY teddy

The Rockets acquiring Eddy Curry is an epic fail type of move.

FREE T-MAC.. oh wait.. he is free…

  • http://myspace.com/brandnew Bryan

Leave Lee out of everything he’s easily the knicks best player and if they’re smart IF they sign bron they will resign Lee using his Bird rights because he’s a perfect second fiddle.

  • Loqui

Lee is ballin’ right now, so he ain’t going no where. Knicks call the shot on this one. Rockets trying to get rid of their malcontent we’re trying to get rid of contracts.

  • http://myspace.com/weezyleezy337 GametimeWeezy

if t-mac was actually going to stay then thats wassup. but this revolving door of players thing and ‘expiring contract’ crap rite now is wack. it BETTER pay off or wtf. and if they trade david lee i’ll be pissed. him and chandler are playin they a$$ off.

  • http://slamonline.com Dave

“T-Mac’s explosiveness is there, he’s amazing.” D’Antoni said the first week that McGrady was in New York. “I can’t wait to run inbounds plays with someone of his calibre on the wing. He’s exactly the player we need right now. His enthusiasm, experience and scoring abilities are well known.” A far cry from D’Antoni’s opinion of McGrady now, just a season and a half later and at the end of the first of his five years with the Knicks. “We don’t know when he’ll be playing for us. We have to try and win, and we’ll use any combinations to get those wins.” So far, those wins, and the promise of major free-agent talent, have eluded D’Antoni and the Knicks. After failing to lure any major of the big players during the off-season, the New York Knicks are now at 26 wins with only seven more games to go in the season. General Manager Donnie Walsh was unavailable for comment, although it’s known he is philosophically opposed to contract buy-outs.

if the knicks ever traded david lee, there’d be a riot in nyc from the bronx to coney island

    why am i not surprised..?

  • Justin

Dave, I don’t think the Knicks wanted any “major players” because they’re looking towards 2010 and hopefully landing a big name. Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening. I don’t see any of the big names outside of maybe Bosh leaving and even that might not happen if Toronto makes a good second half push. They’ve won 5 in a row now and are starting to look a lot better, plus he can make max money in Toronto.

  • http://slamonline.com Dave

Sorry you missed my joke, Justin.

  • TheTruth

@reflex the rockets are way over the salary cap with yao and t-mac if they wait out t-mac’s contract they won’t have much money to play with yes t-mac is making 23 mil but you have to subtract that from the red (the over salary cap money) odds are they won’t have enough to go after boozer and definatly not bosh or lebron since they both want max contracts, the only time you can go over the salary cap is when the player is already on your team (or a mid level contract to a free agent but that’s only 5 mil a year) that’s why they want to trade him so they can get players instead of just losing one so ifthey get eddy curry and nate and some other random scrub they can sign them all back for next year since they would be on their team get it? So don’t get your hopes up on rockets signing any of the three you mentioned

  • TheTruth

The knicks are interested in every team that says they want to trade a player, the knicks aren’t going to do anything to make sure this deal goes threw this is a waste of time for the rockets.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TBone8 Tony Williams

Can’t do it for Nate because of the complexities of his “Bird Rights.” But T-Mac can be had for Cuttino’s contract and say either Hughes, Jeffries, or Curry. If I was New York I’d give SERIOUS consideration. A healthy — and hungry — McGrady can be of use. Hell, of D’Antoni can get anything out of Bender, who was retired for four years, he can get something out of T-Mac, who hasn’t been relevant in four years.

i proptly traded Curry, Hughes and Duhon for T-Mac and Joey Dorsey in nba2k10 last nite. Coulda offed Milicic but i got rid of Duhon so T-Mac can wear #1 lol

  • http://myspace.com/weezyleezy337 GametimeWeezy

i also traded Harrington, Nate Rob and a draft pick for Amare and Jennings. i also scooped up Iverson. my lineup now consists of Iverson, T-Mac, Chandler, David Lee, and Stoudemire…wit Jennings as the 6th man. Beastly…i should run the knicks lol

  • TheTruth

So I scored 150 points with a created player I named after myself doesn’t mean I’m a good b-ball player lol its video game not real life

  • http://myspace.com/weezyleezy337 GametimeWeezy

i was just kiddin…but since u went there. See the diff between u and me…i am a good ball player lol
