Latest Unhappy Knick: Eddy Curry

Make room, Nate Robinson. Eddy Curry is also displeased with Mike D’Antoni’s way of conducting business: “One day after saying the Knicks should release him after the season if they don’t play him, the divide between Eddy Curry and Mike D’Antoni is growing. Curry expressed frustration yesterday with the lack of communication from the Knicks coach, who still hasn’t talked to Curry since yanking him from the rotation … Last month, D’Antoni gave Curry’s development as a reason for passing on Allen Iverson. Now D’Antoni has Curry buried in his doghouse, next to Nate Robinson. Curry, a DNP the past four games, and Robinson, a DNP for 11 straight, are close friends and have grown closer by their leper status. ‘As a player you always want to know what’s going on,’ Curry said. ‘That’s his style I guess. I’m not in any position to question his style. I’m just going to roll with it and hopefully I’ll get out there.’ For the second straight day, Curry would not use D’Antoni’s name or call him as coach — as he used to. Instead, Curry referred to D’Antoni as ‘he’ and ‘him.’ ‘He understands right now where we are,’ D’Antoni said. Curry does not sound convinced that D’Antoni thinks he’s a good fit because he is a low-post player. ‘I feel like I do [fit in],’ Curry said. ‘[But] it’s not my team. I’ll keep approaching it as if it is the right fit for me as long as I’m here. They have the power to change it. Until they decide I’m not the right fit by moving me, I’m assuming I’m the right fit.”’

    Curry for tmac.

While I’m sure D’Antoni has good reason for decisions he makes, communication with players is probably not a bad idea.
For the record – I don’t think D’Antoni and the Knicks have ever been happy with Curry.

Eddy Curry might be the biggest most lazy waste of talent I have ever seen play basketball. He has no desire to win or play hard at all.

I dont know ladies and gentleman??? This D’Antoni fellow is really starting to “grind my gears” (family guy reference). I understand wanting for your team to play up to your expectations; but you still have to COACH THEM! Not just DNP them and have them rot on your bench…. the players discontent will eventually fester into other players and then what would you end up with…. A bench of players disliking their coach and eventually getting him and management fired (Hello Chicago!) Do what is needed and either buyout, trade or waive Eddy, Nate, the rookies (Hill or Douglass) and get players in here who u know will play for you! This should also be sometype of legal issue w/ the NBPA. This DNP players has to stop; it decreases the trade value of the player and “labels” the player bad enough no one will touch them (See Stephon Marbury’s plight last yr.) I hope the NBPA brings this and many other issues up @ CBA time!

Why does this not surprise me? Curry needs to pull it together soon or he’ll be out of the L in no time.

  • Seanboogie

Mike Dan-phony is grinding my gears also.he constantly lies to the media about why he’s doing what he’s doing how he feels about players etc etc
1st he wanted steph In Shape and he still benched him, then he calls him out in da media, traded q rich for no reason, didn’t want iverson, didn’t want Ewing jr,didn’t draft Jennings, took hill instead, benched Nate for no reason, sign bender…..I can go on but I digress…Point being he’s no better than Isiah maybe worst

  • Seanboogie

Also for him to say “I would play Satan himself if he can get us a win” shows how personal Dan-phony is making it…he don’t like Nate or curry personally
he didn’t like qrich steph iverson and tinsley he lies constantly with his lil ratface mustache

after seeing the rookie #8 start, i lost the last respect for d’antoni.

  • Hussman25

@Seanboogie: we see eye-2-eye on this… It’s the Coach; not the players.

  • $tev3

Heres a crazy idea Nate AND Eddy curry for Tmac

  • d.j.

didnt he loose like mad weight and got in shape allegedly ? why not give him a chance or two…

  • nicko

^ ye he be loozin da mad weight n shi* but he be not workin like mad hard n shi* so youz got to give da madz rezpect

  • Teddy-the-Bear

D’Antoni is a major jack@ss. He’ll play Chris Duhon 35+ minutes a game but barely let Toney Douglas see the floor. In a season like this YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO DEVELOP YOUR ROOKIES.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Co-sign Hussman. D’Antoni is essentially ruining these players’ careers.

  • ady

I didn’t know Eddy Curry was still in the league!

  • paychexx

    he still plays?

  • LebronGOAT

CoSign Teddy and Hussman. What’s wrong with D’Antoni?

  • gio

he was good when he was still with the bulls. he was 50 lbs lighter then. and minus the irregular heartbeat issues.

  • rav

if eddy curry wants to leave the knicks that badly he should walk from his contract for $0, come to think of it considering how bad he’s been he should probably give them back some of what they’ve paid his fat behind

  • tavoris

Mike D’Antoni is Larry Brown w/o the love of teaching or a defensive philosophy. “Fire D’Antoni” chants will echo thru MSG before the season is out. This.will.not.end.well

  • mems

curry is garbage. god i hope the knicks trade rumors with rockets aren’t true. mcgrady for curry and jefferies would be a bigger L than when we initially signed mcgrady. is over overpaid, overweight and underachiever.

I think it’s fair that coaches should be treated the same as players. I say put D’Antoni on the bench, let Herb Williams direct the team until he can fit D’an back into the regular rotation. Or they could trade D’Antoni to Chicago for Del Negro? Do their salaries match?
