Michael Beasley: ‘I’m No Tito Jackson’

No disrespect to Tito, but B-Easy doesn’t want to be compared to him: “The key to Michael Beasley’s recent consistency has been carved out of disrespect. Beasley has taken offense to what he believes has been an overwhelming amount of criticism aimed at the Heat from the media and national NBA analysts who question whether star guard Dwyane Wade has adequate help. With Wade struggling with his shot and playing through soreness in his back and wrist, the Heat carries a 13-12 record and an 8-8 mark at home into Wednesday’s game against the Utah Jazz to close out a six-game homestand. ‘I read a Charles Barkley quote when he said we were a team full of Tito Jacksons,’ Beasley said after Tuesday’s practice. ‘I do not think that at all. Udonis Haslem is one of the best shooters [and] hardest-working rebounders in the league. And I think I can score with anybody in the NBA. It’s not about saying it anymore. It’s about doing it. Nothing against Tito; he’s pretty talented,’ Beasley said. ‘But when you put him next to Mike, it’s not really a comparison. It’s like saying Rick Fox is talented. But when you put him next to Mike Jordan, it’s really no competition.”’

When it came to the combination of perm and ‘stache Rick ‘the Slick’ Fox was the most talented the NBA has ever seen.

Your right Beasley – you are no Tito Jackson. Everyone knows who he is and in 20 years, unless you step up your game, NOBODY will know your name.

LOL We understood the metaphor before you explained it, Beas’.

Well, when you think about it, Beas might just turn out to be a lot like Rick Fox. Think about it.

This is good. This is great. This is great motivation for the guy. He definitely can score with the best of them.

I think Beasley’s got loads of talent and could be a perenial all-star but so far in his carear he has yet to prove himself as anything but a talented coaster.
16 points, 7 boards and half a block per while shooting significantly worse than he did in his rookie season. Those are great numbers for a role player – not so great for a team leader or star.
