T-Mac Makes His Season Debut

McGrady’s debut wasn’t spectacular or anything (3 points, 3 boards in seven minutes of action), but the good news is that he didn’t break anything. So, he’s got that going for him: “Of course, it took Trevor Ariza taking a weird swing at DeMar DeRozan, a brutal stretch of games and a night and a day for Rick Adelman to reconsider his original thinking, but McGrady made his season-debut, playing 7:44 in the first quarter, and will continue in that role for at least the next five games. Adelman had wanted to wait until after the stretch of four games in five nights. But there probably won’t be a lot of time spent practicing next week, and then the Rockets come back the day after Christmas for another back-to-back. Once McGrady was cleared medically, it always was a basketball decision, and so Adelman made it for basketball reasons. Heading into a stretch of games that inspired his rant about NBA scheduling, he thought he could use the extra body. It turns out to be a good time to trim some minutes from Ariza and Shane Battier.”

can anyone else possibly deserve 200,000 allstar votes any less? sure, he’s healthy and back playing…. 7 mins a game, but this is beyond the joke.

    Allstar=popularity contest

  • Michael Scorn

I was hoping his first game back would be the All-Star Game. I was wish that All-Star Game would have been the only game he played in this season.

Not bad I guess. Well at least he’s back.

One of our local writers suggested that the Heat could get TMac and Scola for JO’neal and Daequan Cook. I would take that in a minute. He also suggested a move for Steve Blake, but we’ll see.

He’s a star regardless of how much/little he plays. Because I see the all-star game being about stars – not necessarily stats or the best performers of the season, it makes sense to me that he would get a ton of votes. I just hope he doesn’t continue to play 7-8 minutes a game and then play 15+ in the all-star game.

Cheryl are you saying t mac for blake?
cause im a blazer fan. and if your saying that is possible, im going to crap myself.
get tmac half a season, and then train him and get him in shape in the offseason, get greg oden back. than the blazers are unstoppable. miller/bayless, roy/rudy, tmac/batum (we could give them outlaw also)
    lamarcus/daunte, oden/joel.
i honestly cant see anyone beating that team.

TMac and Scola for J.O. and Cook would never happen. Ever.

  • http://shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Cheryl

I’ll mark your words, Teddy. And if it does happen, what do I win?

  • http://slamonline.com/ niQ

TMac and Scola for JO and Cook sounds like a lose-lose for Houston….really..

i’m a rockets fan and i don’t want o’neal or cook, even if they have expiring contracts. we can just keep mcgrady around and let the $47 mil he’s earning this year come off the cap in june.

nate: that’s not what she meant.

  • http://www.twitter.com/JoshElam JE

And stop the hating. He’s working his way back into game shape. By the second half of the season, he’ll likely be at All-Star level again.

“SCOLA is the BEST in the West”

PS: Duncan, Manu, Tony, Nash, Dirk and Kobe are pretty good Too!

Cheryl: The Houston reaction to that trade rumor is laughter. Scola is our most consistent player–guaranteed close to 15 and 10 every night (in less than 30 minutes per night), shoots 50 percent, runs the court like a horse, makes all the smart, hustle plays and fits perfectly in our teams identity. Based solely on player contributions (ignoring contracts) I wouldn’t do O’neal and Cook for Scola straight up, and we don’t need those expiring contracts (we already have the biggest expiring contract available in T-mac’s 21 mill). It WOULD be a great trade for Miami…and a positively idiotic trade for Houston.

yeah no way they’re trading Scola. that’s some crazy optimism you got going on…

  • kruch

its nice to hear tmac played again. he is my fave player, but i think he should not be voted to the all star. he hasnt played in a loooooooong time. hope you will be all voting for deron williams. long overdue all star. dont want to see another rod strickland.

Hey, Grant Hill came back from a never ending injury purgatory, so maybe TMAC can too. But All Star? C’mon.

  • nashty

Yeah, Tmac needsta to give a shoutout to the doctors in Phoenix. If he is healthy, I can still see him putting up 20,5,5 easy. But that’s a big if.
