The Post Up: Bogut’s Back

While Mrs. Monta got a big game.

by Holly MacKenzie/@stackmack

Another day and still I’m falling behind. Being sick really kicks your ass, doesn’t it? Yeesh.

At least the Bucks helped my heart out a little bit. Their win against the Bulls was good for my spirit. Hanging on to get the 99-97 victory, Andrew Bogut was back and I couldn’t stop smiling. Charlie Bell, Ersan Ilyasova, Hakim Warrick, Brandon Jennings. So many guys to love and root for on this team. I’m loving them. Even if they damn near give me heart attacks with these close games down the stretch.

One other thing about that game. I loved absolutely loved the look on Joakim Noah’s face after Brad Miller’s shot was short and the buzzer sounded. No, I’m not taking enjoyment out of his frustration, I’m appreciating his competitiveness and how much it bothers him to drop another game. Is the tide slowing turning on Noah? 16 points and 17 rebounds, he’s busting his butt this season, doing everything he can on both ends of the floor.

Derrick Rose had 19 points and seven assists. I’m convinced this is because I forgot to start him on my fantasy roster.

23 and 15 to go with three steals and four blocked shots for Bogut in his return. Against the Magic especially, they were missing his interior presence so much. It’s going to be interesting to see what Milwaukee can do with both he and Redd back in action.

A close one in Dallas, too, with the Mavs winning by two, 104-102 against the Sixers thanks to a beauty shot by Jason Terry, not Dirkus Circus. If the Sixers had Allen in uniform…. I’m just saying. Trying my best to not get caught up in the convo about Allen Iverson going home where he belongs, but I can’t help it. It just feels, right, doesn’t it?

The game winner from JET was just his third made field goal of the evening.

Did you all realize my guy Jose Juan Barea is averaging almost 24 minutes per game this season? Love that!

Who stayed up to watch the Warriors romp over the Pacers, 126-107. Monta Ellis was on fire, playing 41 minutes and scoring 45 points. He fouled out of the game before he could reach 50 or he would have gotten there.

What prompted the big night?

“My wife asked me to get 50 tonight (and) I was going for it. When I fouled out she threw her thumb up and said, ‘Hey, 45 and a win is cool for me.’ So I’m happy.” – Ellis

Thank you, Mrs. Ellis.

It’s just so nice to see him healthy again. There’s been so much said about the disaster of a situation in Golden State, Monta himself has said a lot of junk and lost in that mess was the fact that this guy was coming back from a bad injury where we didn’t know if he’d be back to “normal” again.

Monta at normal speed  is about 5x faster than the rest of the world’s  normal and he appears to be there. It was fun watching him race up and down the court last night, particularly that spinning circus layup he hit against Granger… Yeah. Monta, we’re glad you’re good.

Also, Anthony Randolph, please, please get healthy soon. Going down with an ankle sprain that didn’t look good made me feel ill. The injuries will not leave the Warriors alone. Ronny Turiaf left the game limping, after missing time with a sprained knee, also. Get healthy, Warriors.

In Utah, the Memphis Grizzlies reverted back to the Grizz of old, falling hard to the Jazz, 120-93. Allowing Utah to shoot 58% from the floor for the game, the Jazz rolled to the victory, as six players reached double-figures and three topped 20.

I’ve got the Wizards in town today and have to grab some sleep before shootaround. I’ll catch you guys soon.

Andrew Bogut wears same shox i have? And i thought all leaguers wore now were KBIV’s, Hyperize’s and Sharkalaid’s. (not you VC, Milsap, Okur,AK47, McDyess, KMart and the other few Shox disciples remaining). It’s gotta be the shoes. Great comeback performance for Bogut and Monta is effing ridiculous. Oh, one more thing: Dirk!!

  • Atrain

Guess who bizack, Bogut on the block for you h*#*s
    Go Bucks

  • riggs

to be fair, the grizz missed rudy gay who had to attend a funeral

  • MooButter

I only had one problem with the Bulls Bucks game. How ridiculous the Bulls announcers are. The blessing (and sometimes curse) of having League Pass is getting to hear all of the differnet teams commentators. The Bulls guys are attrociously lopsided in their views. They obviously felt the need to defend Rose vs. Jennings so they bashed BJ all night. He came off a pick and drilled a wide open three as the comment, “Jenning puts up a terrible shot” was made. Both guys instantly accusing Bell of flopping as a Noah forearm put the back of his head into the timber. Terrible, just terrible. Of all the local broadcasters I’ve listened to this year, by far the worst and it’s not close.

  • LA Huey

@MooButter, the only downside to having league pass is having no limit to the number of games to watch. Sincerely, broke college student =)

  • iLL wiLL

Bogut is such a beast when Redd isn’t there in the game to cramp his style.

    Get well soon, Holly!

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com DP

Oh yeah monta is getting back in the groove. Warriors won’t win much, but the boy is going to get his no matter what. play wit it.

  • http://digitalthread.com AlbertBarr

@moobutter, the Bulls’ announcers aren’t even in the same league as the Celtics’ announcers. Far worse than the Chicago guys.

  • PJ

i love the bulls announcers. I’m just as biased as them for the bulls so it feels good to be reassured.

that ankle injury was nasty hate when it happens as i’ve done it about 5 times and it never feels right. get well soon mr.randolph.

  • http://fjkld.com Jukai

Bogut is better than I thought. Maybe he will live up to the number one spot.
Also, I just dropped Anthony Randolph yesterday in my fantasy team. I am a psychic.

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

CELTICS ANOUNCERS=F#CKIN BIAS DOUCHEBAGS…bulls are less but theyre also a litle annoying…then I catch the Warriors last night on LPBB and theyre the nicest guys…never bashing the other team and actuall rooting to see good bball being played…Monta is unreal and Bogut is a beast!

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

bogut has been putting up numbers like this for a few years, but playing in milwaukee and getting hurt wont do much for his rep.

  • Orlando Woolridge

I was one of those people who said that the Bulls wouldn’t miss Gordon, and that Salmons would fill the scoring role just fine. I’m here to admit that I was wrong. Very wrong.

  • Orlando Woolridge

Also, I think Stacey King needs to expand his catch-phrase repertoire, because I want to reach through the tv and strangle him every time I hear him say “get up or get out of the way!”. Anyone else with me on this?

  • http://www.realcavsfans.com Anton

I lost $200 riding with the Patriots last night

  • Orlando Woolridge

DRose should have taken that last shot. Take it to the hole, man.

  • http://www.slamonline.com JL

c’mon give the bulls some time. salmons is starting to adjust, and they don’t have tyrus thomas back yet (assuming del negro will stop messing with him and start him with deserved playing time rather than giving it to rookies).

  • http://www.yahoo.com logues

wonder what ellis got in return from his wife? ahhh yeeeeaa…

  • http://www.sixers.com 360vue

I completely forgot Bogut was number one pick. Crazy! He hasn’t had much, infact any, luck with injury. He is definitely helping Jennings make the Bucks truly relevant for the first time since at least the Karl era.

  • http://www.stonesthrow.com/madlib Michael NZ

Someone in my fantasy league dropped Bogut(!)… so I picked him up… for Anthony Randolph. I win.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Anybody know when Ellis becomes a free agent? The Knicks should definitely make a run at him, either from free agency or just trading for him. The Knicks NEED another guard.

  • http://yahoo.com shay_boogy

“Anybody know when Ellis becomes a free agent? The Knicks should definitely make a run at him, either from free agency or just trading for him. The Knicks NEED another guard.

Two things wrong with this. As hard as it to believe, its being said that the dubs AREN’T dumb enough to trade him. Last, do you really think Monta would leave one circus just to join another one?

  • Anony Mous

Mmm I think Monta’s got like 4 years left.. didn’t he sign a 5 year deal before his accident or whatever? Anyways, I would much rather see the knicks trade for Felton, or any other pass first pg. Monta would be okay, but he isn’t necessarily who you would want running with Bosh and Johnson next year. Also, hes making like 11M a year, so he doesn’t really fit into what the knicks are doing.

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

Shay_boogy ——- Monta Ellis’ contract was for 6 years (@66 million). They’ve got him under contract through 2012.

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

sorry that was for teddy bear. i cant see why GSW would be letting him go anywhere near NYK.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    Oh, aight thanks Dacre.

  • Shem

Wasn’t Derek Rose 18th on the SLAM Top 50 for this year? He s averaging 18 pts and 5 assits with 3 turnovers. I realize it’s a long season but they put him above a lot of very good players and I’m a bit disapointed.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

we were saying that during the 50…

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

You wanna talk about Local Station bias?
The Bucks and Heat broadcasters are absolutely disgusting.

  • Hangtime Hec

Really? I always thought the Heats broadcasters were nice. Mabey because I a a heat fan but still. The celtics broadcasters in the other hand……….

  • http://Www.lollercoasters.com Dr. West

Lol of course they’re not bias if you’re a fan of their team. It’s music to your ears whatever slandering sh*t that comes out of their mouth.

  • BM JR

All the announcers are annoying. they should just have the crowd noise and player chatter and mute the announcers like can be done in Nba 2k.

  • davidR

living in the bay, we’re blessed to have great commentators in bob & fitz. of course they root for the home team, but they’re far from homers. they bash bad plays, and recognize good plays by both teams. they’ll even disagree with bad calls, even if they favor the warriors. sorry to hear other cities have whack commentators

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

Houston isn’t too bad. But Clyde Drexler just.. irritates me with his voice.
    Dallas isn’t too bad either.

  • PHullofit21

I’ve been listening to the Bucks TV commentators (Jim Paschke & Jon McGlocklin) almost a decade now and its not that they are biased, its that they are just terrible in general. Haha..however the Bucks radio announcer (Ted Davis) is money. Any announcer for a Chicago team is absolute garbage, especially the WGN douches.

  • http://www.posterized.net/ersan-ilyasova Ersan Ilyasova

You guys need to do a special feature on the bucks, or at least on my main man Ersan Ilyasova..that guy is future all-star no doubt!
