Trade Request from Jerryd Bayless?

There’s talk that Bayless, unhappy with his playing time, wants out of Portland: “Multiple sources in the NBA have told me that Jerryd Bayless seems to be the most available player on Portland’s roster. A couple of sources indicated over the weekend that Bayless has asked the team to trade him, because of his lack of playing time. I wouldn’t blame him — young players want, and need, to play. And if he wants out, the team should try to accommodate him. Bayless has begun to see more action lately, but you have to wonder — is that being done to help teams get a better look at him? A showcase? I mean, how can you ask a lot for Bayless when he’s not even playing significant minutes for you? If I’m sitting in another NBA office and the Trail Blazers are asking me if I want Bayless, I’m going to have to answer, ‘Why would I want somebody you don’t think is good enough to play for you guys?”’

Honestly, he hasn’t played well enough in the NBA to justify asking for a trade.

I think he’s better than Duhon. Mike D! Where ya at?

Jerryd isnt fully developed as an nba player yet but when he does he will be a deceent nba player i think if he isnt happy there then you are better off trading him.

  • thesubwayconnection Posted: Dec.8 at 9:17 am
    Apologies for the double post.

  • Hoodsnake Posted: Dec.8 at 9:27 am
Apology accepted. Maybe they should try a version off small cos they can run?

  • LeoneL Posted: Dec.8 at 9:31 am
Could definitely be better than Duhon. But Mike’s not even playing Toney Douglas a lot. T_T

Bayless is good and coming out of college… every bet as good as Rose. He also did his thing in a better conference. Bayless went to a guard heavy team and when allowed to play has done well. He may not fit well it Coach McMillan’s system but would flourish in another. He is way too talented to be relegated to such small playing time.

Trade him to Philly. Have Philly waive AI. Done deal.

Free Bayless!!!!! He is as good or better than Westbrook, Augustine, Lawson, Collison, and the list goes on. I have seen him give Jennings the business!! Give Bayless the green light and all those minutes and he will produce. He is a starter, not a bench player. Knicks passed on him and Jennings. Dantoni can coach but his GM skills are suspect

  • God Shamgod Posted: Dec.8 at 11:22 am
No way is he better than Russell Westbrook or Ty Lawson. He is a good young player, but he plays SG and is only like 6′2. He would be a great player to come off a lot of teams benches and score.

TRADE HIM TO THE TEAM IN HIS COLLEGE STATE! GO! SUNS! GO!!!

  • la huey Posted: Dec.8 at 1:11 pm
Don’t worry, that injury bug is sure to make it’s way to the backcourt.

Bayless can score. But he’s a volume offensive player, which is, I guess, a nice way of saying “gunner”. Watching him in college I always thought he looked like he could be a slightly smaller Monta Ellis with a better three point shot, and I still think thats a fairly accurate, if not overly generous comparison.
He’s an explosive athlete but his game isn’t polished or well rounded enough to produce efficiently in limited minutes. He’s not a good passer, I’d say sub-par court vision and awareness, especially for a small guard, which is one of the main reasons he can’t come in and work within the Blazers offense.
He could put up nice numbers on a terrible team or in a wide open offense though… I actually think Indiana could be a solid fit, Minnesota already has too many small guards who aren’t really PGs… and…?
You see thats the problem with “Combo Guards” (ie Sub 6′3″ Gunners) you really have to either (a) not care about defense or (b) build a roster with them in mind in order to not create a defensive liability. This is why AI never worked as an “add on” and why Monta has flourished in the Yay (although Monta’s TOs are getting so bad this year that its become a major flaw)
Bayless has talent but I don’t see him having a featured role anywhere anytime soon…

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Dec.8 at 3:03 pm
Bayless can straight up play. Did anyone watched the Portland/Houston game? He’s one the reasons they won.
Portland is ridiculous to bench him like that–I’m glad he’s demanding out.
You know, for those saying the Knicks should trade for him… They could have DRAFTED HIM. Another nice move by the Knicks management.
    No offense to Danilo Gallinari.

  • dw24 Posted: Dec.8 at 4:06 pm
dude Phoenix hop on it. For Goran Dragic or Barbosa for him and Rudy, if contracts match up.

  • clapzilla Posted: Dec.8 at 4:41 pm
This Nicely Plays Into The Slow Death of The Blazers. Blazers Fans, How ’bout Them Knicks?

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers Posted: Dec.8 at 4:55 pm
dw24 you are ridiculous. i dont give j bay and rudy for nash…so why do i offer you them for bench dudes?

  • Shem Posted: Dec.8 at 5:00 pm
He would be good on the knicks but the management would never make that happen + Toney Douglas is probably better

  • YKnot Posted: Dec.8 at 7:31 pm
I would like to say he’s just a gunner and blah blah blah, but who knows after 1 yr at Zona and 15mpg in Portland. Let him go so we can label him great or a bust based on his performance.

  • dw24 Posted: Dec.8 at 9:06 pm
because they are “bench” dudes and with the way Nash never ages I’d trade for him…but he’s probably sit behind steve blake. Andre Miller behind him? Joke. What about Patty Mills does he even get to play? I like the sound of Dragic for Bayless.

  • chintao Posted: Dec.8 at 9:56 pm
“Why would I want somebody you don’t think is good enough to play for you guys?” The answer is obvious: because you are the GM of the Knicks, who only have players that are not good enough to play for other teams.

  • Shem Posted: Dec.8 at 10:00 pm
No no i would rather Danilo then Jarryd Bayless but Jerryd Bayless would be a good fit in NY especially in D’Antoni’s offense but then again he did bench nate and not bench like out of the starting 12

  • Dr. West Posted: Dec.9 at 4:41 am
Gallinari should go back to Italy and take Bellineli and Bargnani with him.

  • Yesse Posted: Dec.9 at 8:50 am
Summer league MVP, but in the league, not so much.I think he should still get a bigger opportunity.Knicks would be good.

  • Ro Posted: Dec.9 at 12:30 pm
what about Bayless for Nate Robinson? Robinson doesn’t figure into the Knicks future. There is no downside to the Knicks getting Bayless who could be their future point guard. Moreover, Robinson can be teamed up with his former backcourt teammate, Brandon Roy.

  • tavoris Posted: Dec.9 at 2:47 pm
    why did they draft him?
