Wafer Fails Physical, Fails to Return to L

After signing a contract this summer overseas, last week Von Wafer unceremoniously reached an agreement to leave that team and return to the USA.

On monday it seemed certain that Wafer would return to the Houston Rockets–whom he played for last season–with Chase Budinger out. However, according to the Houston Chronicle, Wafer failed his physical. Amazingly enough, he reportedly recently failed a physical in Memphis. The reason for his failure hasn’t been specified, but it may have something to do with a history of back issues.

His loss was another man’s gain, as the Rockets swooped in and signed Mike Harris.

He has a back and hip issue apparently..

  • Shem

He was one of Houston’s best players in 08-09. They should atleast place him on the practice team or d-league or something

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    Co-sign Shem.

I hope he gets better. When he does, he’ll hopefully have a shot at another team.

Wow. How was he able to play in Europe? How unathletic is Europe?

  • TheTeam

Europe is just a simple jumpshot and a little travel step once in a while nothing real athletic

Lemme take that back… Wafer probably couldn’t make the ACB, that sh*t is legit right there.

I hope he did the right thing with his money. You never want a kid to have a career – ender.

    Sorry foolio – Moochie Norris.

  • http://slamonline.com Dave

I presume, Jukai, that he was released from his European team for the reasons he failed two physicals.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

No Dave. You presume wrong. He bought out his own contract.

  • http://slamonline.com Dave

Okay, none of this story makes sense to me, then.

  • Kas

@ Jukai, If u TAKE Kobe off the Usa team, ; they will no doubt lose to the all-stars of Europe. Kobe is the best, but no one else really have the fundamentals.

  • gomez

@ Kas. Are you really saying everyone else on the USA team lacks in fundamentals? really think about that buddy….

  • tavoris

    lol@Kas…noooooo waaaaaaaaaay mannnnn

  • tavoris

Europe’s all-stars would only gie US all-stars (not just the ones that agree to play) a run for their money with FIBA rules and FIBA refs. Neutralize both factors and the game isn’t even close.
Kobe-Wade-Paul-Lebron-Anthony-Howard-Garnett-Duncan-Bosh-Deron-Roy-Allen-Durant=a roster that NO ONE in the world can beat on neutral territory.

have you realized how bad Wafer was in Greece?
Look as the stats as much as you like them
