Returning from a whirlwind week in Spain this summer, Carmelo came back with a new perspective on life. No, he wasn’t going to be ordering paella for breakfast, lunch and dinner — he finally understood the magnitude of the game, and the impact that he alone can make on people’s lives. Basketball fans around the globe see Melo as a role model, and so does his son (though, not in the same way). That’s rare power not to be taken lightly, and he unknowingly had it for several years. Carmelo always knew he would change the world. This summer, he got serious about doing it.

Melo is for real ever since the Olympics. That summer basically changed the NBA after all those guys came back. Even the international guys, for that matter. My point is, I was the biggest Carmelo skeptic, but he is playing top 4 or 5 in the L right now.

after reading his article/interview from the issue these pics are from (he’s sitting on the directors chair and every word on the cover is written in a graffiti font), i developed a lot of respect for carmelo. much different from what i thought of him before based on the stop snitchin’ cameo and the MSG punch&backpedal. much thanks to SLAM for always shedding a different light for these ballers who are often portrayed as no good knuckleheads

    Go Baltimore!

  • chintao Posted: Jan.18 at 12:26 am
@james==> With divorce rates being what they are, what good is wedlock? Back to the topic at hand, ‘Melo is really maturing in a way I had always hoped he would. It’s weird, because you just don’t see personal growth like that take place very often and especially not in the spotlight. Anyway, dude deserves alot of respect.

As an AVID NUggets fan I was shocked to see (fristhand ) the level of his game after the Olympics I mean DUDE is serious…he is dependent consistent and the most efficient scorer in the L…as for JAmes….He was jsut asking a question…and I too wonder myself…LaLA said they are getting married this summer..However hours later Melo was asked and kinda hemmed and hawed…so meswell just look at his B Ball palying!!
