Returning from a whirlwind week in Spain this summer, Carmelo came back with a new perspective on life. No, he wasn’t going to be ordering paella for breakfast, lunch and dinner — he finally understood the magnitude of the game, and the impact that he alone can make on people’s lives. Basketball fans around the globe see Melo as a role model, and so does his son (though, not in the same way). That’s rare power not to be taken lightly, and he unknowingly had it for several years. Carmelo always knew he would change the world. This summer, he got serious about doing it.
