Most Popular NBA Merchandise (Thru January)

Who knew Derrick Rose could move this much product! Chicago’s point guard boosted overall jersey sales from No. 11 at the end of his rookie year to No. 4. Bulls merchandise sells along the best, so that could be part of it. His flashy game could be another. His Playoff performance against the Celtics definitely earned him followers. But still, No. 4 is high, considering Derrick finished sixth among Eastern Conference guards in All-Star votes, another crude barometer of popularity.

Other tidbits of interest include Dwight’s dramatic jump from No. 10 to No. 3 on this season’s list. Magic merchandise also rose to No. 6 overall, despite missing the Top 10 last season. Allen Iverson’s 76er jersey is still clinging on at No. 14 — a number which might rise as the uniform’s only been on sale since December…

Rankings are based on sales at the ever-charming NBA Store and NBAStore.com since the start of the ’09-10 season.

kevin durant would prolly be higher on this list if their jerseys werent so dumb

  • jumpman3224 Posted: Jan.20 at 11:42 am
Durant could def. be higher if OKC had better uniforms. Or maybe some alternates or something like that. I figured LeBron would be higher seeing as fans have 5 different jerseys of his to choose from. I guess he isn’t quite number one cause some fans are waiting for him to be #6.

Wheres Roy????? Seriously how is Lee on this list at all

  • Anton Posted: Jan.20 at 12:28 pm
85% of people who buy a Dwight jersey regret it 24 hours later.

Kinda crazy that 4-6 of the 15 guys could be out of the L within the next few seasons. Not sure who will take their spots on the list.

  • Nashty Posted: Jan.20 at 1:21 pm
The hype machines of NIKE and adidas work their magic and put their main guys in the top 4….

  • God Shamgod Posted: Jan.20 at 1:24 pm
Really cool to see David Lee on this list.

  • Hawkules Posted: Jan.20 at 2:41 pm
@ Tewesky. What are you smokin? Rose, Wade and Garnett our in a few years. Garnett understandable, but Rose and Wade. Damn boss you want to just kill them now and burn their jersy’s while they are still being worn.

  • ball4life Posted: Jan.20 at 3:17 pm
Damn! who’s buyin David Lee’s jersey?…. and Pau Gasols??

  • LeeVan Posted: Jan.20 at 3:35 pm
    I bought a David Lee jersey…back in ’07!
I bought it at the NBA store in NYC and the employee who was “helping” me didn’t even know who D. Lee was!…in NYC!!!
I’m glad to see that people are recognizing the greatness of Lee.

  • Monday Night Live Posted: Jan.20 at 4:22 pm
@ Hawkules: I dont think he meant 4 through six. I think he meant four or six of the players could be out of the L ( K.G, Kobe,A.I,Steve McNashty,Shaqtus,Paul Pierce)

  • boogster Posted: Jan.20 at 5:00 pm
according to the list hawks merchandise isn`t as popular, however i don`t see big al, j-smoove swingman jerseys in nba store.

  • AlbertBarr Posted: Jan.20 at 5:21 pm
David Lee is in the top jersey sales because he plays for new york. Simple as that. They have to buy SOMEONE’S jersey in NYC.

  • AlbertBarr Posted: Jan.20 at 5:22 pm
Pau Gasol is pretty freakin good and he plays for the team with the highest team sales…also a simple reason for his jersey sales. BIG MARKETS SELL MORE!

  • ab_40 Posted: Jan.20 at 6:12 pm
david lee? you just put that on there to say that if lebron goes to new york he’s no.1 even if he keeps on playing with the no. 23 (you know he’s gonna be no.1 next year with the switch to no.6). What can you buy from the knicks? stock? or bonds?

  • DMC14 Posted: Jan.20 at 8:07 pm
I’d buy a Amare one if they would sell them in Australia (i’ve been looking since his rookie season).

  • Adrian Zapata Posted: Jan.20 at 9:21 pm
If LeBron moves to NYC then the league, THE ENTIRE LEAGUE revenue jumps to insane levels.

  • Jon Posted: Jan.20 at 10:48 pm
@Adrian Zapata no doubt. i for one would buy a new home and away knicks jerseywith james and bosh at the back. the only home whites i have now are z-bo and spree. the aways i have are steve francis. pretty horrible collection of knicks jerseys eh?

  • horsey Posted: Jan.21 at 1:05 am
haha iverson beats durant. that’s awesome.

  • chintao Posted: Jan.21 at 4:59 am
Anyone else surprised by how low ‘Melo is? Taking a look at the stores, I think the league underpromotes him. His stuff just isn’t available. I remember when I wanted his Olympic jersey. It just couldn’t be found among the stacks of Kobe and LeBron stuff. Then again, I live in Beijing, so I’m not sure if that theory holds.

  • Yann Blavec's wife's husband Posted: Jan.21 at 10:46 am
    No Dirk …?

  • ezra Posted: Jan.21 at 1:00 pm
who are all these people who are voting t-mac into the allstar team but not buying his new #3 jersey??

  • 1morechip! Posted: Jan.21 at 2:30 pm
kobe will always have his jersey at #1for sell

  • Joz Posted: Jan.21 at 2:55 pm
Durant would be top 8 if he were wearing a Sonics jersey rather than a Zombie jersey.

  • Rich Posted: Jan.21 at 4:04 pm
Would be genuinely interested to see where Iverson’s Grizzlies jersey placed – I’m assuming they flew off the shelves for the extremely brief period of time he was with the team.

  • B~Diddy Posted: Jan.21 at 5:04 pm
OKC should get blak alternates with blue and orange stripes down the sides

  • AlbertBarr Posted: Jan.21 at 6:11 pm
    @B-Diddy: That would be sick!

  • Jack Posted: Jan.21 at 7:51 pm
Gasol? Above Melo, Durant and Nashty? Sheeeeesh.

  • [...] Cleveland and L.A. met up on Thursday night, the latest updates for this year’s jersey sales came in, and Lakers, #24 holds the top spot with Cavs, #23 right behind. Surprise to anyone? Of course not. [...]
