Phil Blames Artest’s Shoes for Plantar Fasciitis

According to his coach, Ron-Ron needs to step up his kick game: “Is it the shoes? Something has caused Ron Artest to develop plantar fasciitis in both feet, and Lakers Coach Phil Jackson believes that something might be the shoes his small forward wears. Whatever the case is, Jackson said Artest might have to sit out if he continues to have pain and remains ineffective. ‘I’ve called his shoes concrete boots for about the last month,’ Jackson said. ‘Those shoes look like they are made for the Hudson River. But he stays with them and he gets his feet worked on. But he does not move really quickly. He looks like he’s clogging around out there.’ Artest endorses a shoe by a Chinese company called Peak Shoes, as do Dallas’ Jason Kidd and Houston’s Shane Battier.”

Aaaand a ringing endorsement for PEAK by the best Coach of all time. Can’t buy Marketing like that. Next up, Mike Dunleavy critisizing Baron’s Li Ning’s. Oh wait, no one cares what Dun has to say…

Peak are the worst looking shoes ever, and I doubt they perform well, I mean look at them. “Concrete boots” describes them perfectly.

I just looked at their website and they wrote, ” NBA stars such as Jason Kidd, JASON Battier and a number of others are wearing these shoes.” They don’t even know the names of the people that endorse their stuff. This could be a bad sign. http://www.peakshoe.com/chinese-peak-shoes-pictures-of-basketball-shoes/

Or he just lost a step on defense? They should sign this Ariza kid, he’s good at that.

I don’t know if they make these ones differently, but most brand name Chinese shoes have no padding. Guys are probably wearing them as the Chinese market is huge and they want a piece. They just don’t have enough padding, it feels like you are playing in your socks. This is not an exaggeration, I’m speaking from personal experience. Phil’s funny because at his age, he says what he thinks and doesn’t care.

Wow. They’re Chinese. You expect them to be quality-made? Or expensive, for that matter? A lot of it is just Ron-Ron not stepping up on the court though. I don’t buy no stupid disease story.

@theyhr88 — While I agree with the assessment that goods made in China are generally unreliable in quality, you should expect to hear from Teddy-the-bear, the resident defender of all things China related. (Just kidding, Teddy!)
