Spurs Entering the Amar’e Derby?

Now, this would be terrifying: “Multiple league sources say the Spurs’ front office has researched and debated pursuing Stoudemire to play alongside Tim Duncan. There are questions for the Spurs to answer: Would they be willing to part with the personnel – including possibly Manu Ginobili – to make a deal happen? Do the Spurs want to re-sign Stoudemire to a contract extension and swell their payroll? Do they believe Stoudemire could be the difference for their fifth championship? All questions with no clear answers for the Spurs – yet. Nevertheless, the possibility of an athletic, offensive force like Stoudemire has become too irresistible to easily dismiss.”

WOW this would be AWESOME for the Spurs

Although an athletic presence is needed, I don’t see this work… I mean, you have two great point forwards in the team and both of them can score the ball. Greg and therefore Tony will be confused to decide…

eff that, im more excited of a manu and steve backcourt, that would be entertaining as hell.

  • Rumaros

    Robinson and Duncan worked well.

  • T-Money

    Amar’e and TD? Wow. Wow.

The Spurs need to get more athletic, regardless of the lack of defense Amare would provide.

i don’t think amare is the answer. they’ve got to get more athletic in the backcourt. they’ve won titles while getting nothing from the center position. jefferson has been mediocre and parker and ginobili haven’t been as effective as usual, of course injuries factor into that.

phoenix just wants money so if the spurs can keep manu parker and TD together and add stoudamire without trading away blair and hill… DO IT steve nash will make matt bonner an 8 mil per year player haha

I’m all for TD providing the veteran presence to a young and athletic big man, like David did for him early in his career. But that’s (Amare) not what they need for this team right now. They need a hard-nosed defensive player who can guard the 2/3 spots and can score the ball if left open on offense. Offense really is not their problem. They seem unable to stop anybody esp. at the end of games. IMO they remind me a lot of the way the Heat is playing these days.

speculation is fun. but what is sa gonna give up, manu, george hill and dujuan blair? i doubt it

  • rainman10

    jefferson, blair, and hill/mason

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

richard jefferson is to old for that too be a realistic trade

  • RedRum

well… they could go after Bosh, who is texan and would probably like to go back home. he would fit perfectly. It is the same amount of money, plus Manu would not mind playing in a international team such as Raps.

  • J-RO

The Spurs would rather dump RJ than Manu….

If they can work this so they can keep all of their big four plus George Hill then maybe

There is no player on San Antonio that Phoenix will want. what don’t you people get? Why would they want Manu if they are not givin up barbosa or richardson, especially with dragic showing potential as an off guard. Jefferson is in the same boat, there is no logic to this rumor.

Clearly they realize that RJ was not the answer. LOL

  • Richard Lee Ochoa

i Will Love to See if Mr.RC.Buford Will RE-Sign Amare Stoudemire for the San Antonio Spurs.

  • Franko

Manu+TP+TD+RJ+AMARE? Ha Ha Ha…in your dreams.
