Celtics Not Exactly Thrilled About Nate

This isn’t what one would call a very warm welcome. No one in the Celtics’ locker room was screaming “word aaaaappp!” for their new teammate last night: “Celtics coach Doc Rivers didn’t feel the team needed a shake-up after posting a 10-10 record in the last 20 games. ‘I would’ve been fine if we hadn’t … we’ll see whether that’s the right decision or not,’ said Rivers. ‘I like this team, I’ve said it over and over again. I didn’t think we needed to make changes.’ Asked Rajon Rondo about his thoughts on the trade, he first declined, seemingly frustrated. ‘I don’t know, I don’t know,’ said Rondo on whether the team needed to make a trade. “I hope it’s for the best. Eddie House can drop 20, 30 [points off the bench] too. But [the players] don’t make decision, we just play the game.’ As for his relationship with Robinson: ‘We compete. We don’t really see each other, we speak, but I try to kill him every time I play him and I’m sure that’s probably his mentality.’ He did say that Robinson brings ‘energy and he can definitely score the ball in a million different ways. He’s a good defender.”‘

two words why this was a good deal for the celtic; Ball Handling. Eddie House cannot create anything with his dribbling. If Nate is willing two play as a creator for the second unit it will drastically improve bench scoring for Boston, and it will allow Rondo to get more rest.

Nate gets a million dollars if his team makes the playoffs. D’antoni or a million extra bucks u do the math.

I’d understand why the knicks would do this trade, clear up cap, nate isn’t necessarily the consistent role model you’d want to build a team with BUT WHY would the celtics do this? House was gooooood, he came off the bench and hit 3′s and usually played with the starting line. Why they would mess with the rotation in a crutial part to their season beats me..

The problem with the current celtics was their bench. Many a times, they would field their bench with about 2-3 mins left on the clock and 8-10 point lead. And thats when the turnovers happen, thats when the D sucks, thats when shots wont go. So i guess with Nate coming, they would have a guy who can handle the ball and can run the clock.

For the shooting part, i still feel that house is far better shooter than Nate..but i guess we shall c how that goes!!

LOL at Hussman25′s “Silky Johnson” reference. I’m not sure why those guys are so unhappy about Nate–I personally think it’s an upgrade, and Nate can actually HANDLE the ball well and AND shoot. He’s more versatile, a good defender and an explosive scorer. If anything, they better get on their knees and thank Danny Ainge for an improved bench.

rondo sounds like a dumbass. he does sound worried anbout his starting spot…for what? nate is the perennial bench player, he goes off once every couple weeks and then…nothing. as a knicks fan i dont care much either way about this trade. sucks for nate though, he’s on a team that isn’t gonna go far in the playoffs, but has too many goo players for him to get serious minutes. he will probably fade into obscurity.
