Doc Rivers to Celtics: You’re Not Very Good

This is called tough love, kids: “One of the guys said, ‘We’re better than Orlando,’ and I said, ‘No you’re not. That’s a bunch of crap,’ Celtics coach Doc Rivers said after Sunday’s 96-89 loss at TD Garden. “They beat you three games, two at your place. They’re better. They knocked you out of the playoffs last year. Orlando’s better than us right now. Atlanta’s better than us right now. L.A.’s [the Lakers] better than us right now. Those are the teams that have beaten us. That doesn’t mean that we can’t be better than them at some point. But right now, those teams are better than us.”‘

everyone said their health would be the x factor this year, and EVERYONE WAS RIGHT. Hopefully this all star break can give them a second wind of some sort (also they need to make some small moves).

it doesn’t matter I want Lakers and Celtics in the finals

Garnett, Pierce, and Allen need not worry.
My knicks will give them all max contracts in five years

at this point even the Raptors stand a chance of beating the Celts in the playoffs… not as farfetched as that used to sound….

Their safest bet is to start tryin to move some of their veterans before next season when they’re strugglin to get homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs. They may only get worse this offseason. With ray allen bein the most obvious and probably eddie house followin they need to make some moves fast. Danny ainge made a good move nearly three years ago when he traded for garnett but that was three years ago. The big 3 isn’t gettin any younger and they’re crazy if they think rajon rondo’s development as of late wil ultimately replace one let alone all three. We’re takin about hall of famers right here.

What’s the problem? They got their championship, followed it with another 60-win season that included two great playoff rounds. Now they have to pay out the contracts of Garnett and Pierce while getting schooled by all teams they once dominated. Ah, memories of the 2007 Miami Heat.

Bring out the fat lady- its a wrap!!!!!!!!

celtics are lettin me down lately! it sucks watchin kg not be able to play like he used to, i mean that play under the basket where matt barnes fouled him, he shoulda dunked that, instead he barely even got the ball to the rim. hope they can pull it all together in the playoffs

  • Fat Lever Posted: Feb.8 at 11:47 am
Wait, I think I just saw another 3 by Sheed clang off the rim! One of these days he’ll get one to drop!

i don’t care what anyone says–in june, we’re gonna have a tough time believing the c’s ever struggled in january.

  • riggs Posted: Feb.8 at 12:21 pm
Actually this is pretty believable, their moves to acquire KG and Ray were exactly known to produce this outcome. Win a championship in less than 3 years or maybe two before they get old and worn down, their next moves will really tell about their future.

  • albie1kenobi Posted: Feb.8 at 12:38 pm
really? Ray-Ray is more done than the other two? it’s silly sad to watch KG play the way he does now.

  • niQ Posted: Feb.8 at 2:07 pm
I agree with riggs. The trade to bring them in already performed its purpose – Win a Championship.

  • JoeMaMa Posted: Feb.8 at 2:25 pm
Danny Ainge and the Last Crusade – the one where every Boston Celtic chooses the wrong goblet to drink from. tsk tsk tsk.

Da nuggets are better than ya’ll haha
    SF

  • Jray Posted: Feb.8 at 6:29 pm
    theyre better than the cavs?

  • Pardeep Posted: Feb.8 at 6:54 pm
Oh well atleast they got a championship out of it. But I thought this would last atleast a good 3-4 years of Finals appearances. I still don’t get how one man LeBron James can beat the Celtics by himself. Sheed needs to stop jacking up 3′s and they need to be doing everyhthing they were doing in 08

  • Jray Posted: Feb.8 at 7:39 pm
You cant “do” being younger, 2 years later

  • Lebron is greater than Kobe Posted: Feb.8 at 9:44 pm
Hey CAVS ARE BETTER kbes got 4 rings with 2 other all stars on his team each time, kg, ray , rondo, pierce, are bettern mo and lebron, but they old so getoutta here, how oculd doc leave out the cavs just cuz they beat them once in the season

  • ClydeSays Posted: Feb.8 at 9:47 pm
Ray probably healthier than KG and Pierce, but he’s also a 18 million dollar expiring contract. I do think getting them all healthy will help, but they’ve also got to consider if this team will be good beyond this season. If Philly offers Iggy & Lou W for Ray, I can’t see how Ainge could turn that down. He gets an athletic wing who can shoot, defend and rebound and a reliable backup for Rondo. That only makes sense for Philly if they’re looking to rebuild and shed salary.

    relax folks relax….

  • Nick Posted: Feb.9 at 5:01 am
Was it really necessary to clarify the fact that Doc was talking about the Lakers, and not the Clippers?

  • zabba Posted: Feb.9 at 9:07 am
“Kevin Garnett is not walking through that door, fans. Paul Pierce is not walking through that door and Ray Allen is not walking through that door.” That’s the only thing Doc Rivers is looking forward to saying in a few years.

  • King Lloyd Posted: Feb.9 at 11:54 am
I agree Nick haha @Buschfire, my Raps are coming together as a team. The “get used to each other” transition is over and they’re bringing it. The Celtics can only get older, while the Raptors keep getting better. P.S. KG starting over Bosh in the all star game is a CRIME
