Mavs to Play Games at Cowboys Stadium?

Cuban had a such a great time at All-Star, that he’s now thinking about his own team playing in the enormous stadium: “Cuban said before Tuesday’s game against Oklahoma City that he’s planning on doing his due diligence to see if playing an occasional game in Arlington could be feasible. ‘If we can make the economics work, we’d look at having a regular season or a playoff game over there,’ Cuban said. ‘We’d basically have to buy out the AAC date, as if it were an active date, and make sure all our partners (are on board). But there are a lot of strategic reasons, as well as economic reasons, to play a game over there. You can bring in twice as many fans, so economically, it would probably work out. And it would be a unique attraction for people who wanted to come play for the Mavs.’ Several NBA teams have used domed football stadiums for their home court with varying degrees of success.”

Probably won’t be necessary until playoffs.

We went to the All Star game, had an amazing experience, but as basketball fans, would not go there for a regular game. The stadium is too big for fans to really get into the game, unless perhaps you were one of the lucky folks to be sitting courtside. It’s just too big for the atmosphere of a BB game and we do go to nba games on a regular basis.

I’m with niQ on this one. But could you imagine the Playoff atmosphere in a stadium like that?! It would be incredible.

Ehhhh…. I don’t see a regular season game being buig enough to fill out that stadium and do you really want an important home playoffs game at an arena you’re not that familiar with?

if they lower the ticket prices and the mavs have another good 3 years with their actual roster, i think they´ll be able to fill that thing enough to make A LOT of noise cheeringwise…

i think it’s too big for a basketball game.. why would anyone pay to sit and watch the game on a big ass tv?.. you’re better of pulling the couch closer to your LCD..

They need to have Duke vs North Carolina there and somehow get all (or at least a good amount) of the alumni to the game (as opposed to the regular fans that would show up),though I doubt one team will give up a home court game and the huge advantage that brings.
