The Post Up: LeBron…

I’m running out of words besides MVP.

by Holly MacKenzie / @stackmack

Here we go: Happy All-Star weekend!

I was kind of forgetting yesterday that we had two more games before the break officially started, but here we are. Finally. Feels like I’ve been waiting for this weekend for a minute. No, I’m not in Dallas, but I’m pretty excited to sleep in for the next four days. Yay! Also pumped to watch All-Star Saturday… The dunk-in… rookie-soph, oh, you know I’ll be watching it all.

And loving it all. I know  a lot of people complain about the All-Star game/weekend and think it’s overhyped, but it’s fun. I like seeing so many players together, love them getting a chance to shine and show their personalities without the pressure of trying to win the game, etc., etc. I always enjoy it.

I’m pulling hard for DeMar DeRozan to make it to Saturday’s dunk contest and then win it, but damn, how is anyone going to take down Shannon Brown?

About Dallas: I think the basketball Gods decided to make me feel a little bit better about missing the game by making it snow like mad there while I’m here in Toronto where it wasn’t even that cold yesterday. With a record snowfall and players and media having trouble making it to Dallas, it’s going to be one wild weekend when it does finally all get started. Here’s hoping our boys are safely on their way right now! Can’t wait to hear all of your adventures, Lang and Ben!

In Cleveland, the Cavs were up and then they were down and then in the end they went to LeBron. Pretty simple. They also got the 115-106 victory  against the Magic, as LeBron finished with 32 points, eight rebounds and 13 assists. He’s just silly. Foolishly good. I feel like I type these exact same words every week, but they are true and they don’t change.

After hitting back-to-back daggers at the end to break the back of the Magic, Bron walked to the bench as Mo Williams hopped off of the bench and tossed his blazer over his teammate’s shoulders, like a cape. Showing that despite Shaq and Dwight being in the arena, Bron’s the one who deserves a cape because he’s the Cavs superhero.

It was a fun game.

In Denver, the Nuggets trailed to the Spurs for most of the game and then suddenly, the Spurs really turned it on and turned the game into a blowout. Guess the Nuggets were the team that was unable to keep their focus right in the hours before they were free for All-Star break. Kinda seems appropriate. In the end, the Spurs won 111-92, despite playing without Tony Parker. George Hill and DeJuan Blair had 17 points apiece for SA, while Tim Duncan added 16.

It’s got to be said: Sentences involving George Hill and speed will never be the same for me after those stupid texts came out last week.

Glad to see him continuing to add to this impressive season he’s had after working so hard in the offseason. And Blair, well, of course I love seeing him play well. How can’t you.

For the Nuggets, Nene led the way with 20 points on 8-for-9 shooting. Russ said on Twitter that every non-dunk scored by Nene should only count for one-point. That’s how strong he is. So fun to watch. Even though the Nuggets were just out of sync last night. Billups and Melo were a combined 10-for-33 from the floor. Yeah, they’re ready to get on with their break. As am I!

Okay, I know this is a little short today, but it’s the break and I’m going to get on with my day. Enjoy the weekend wherever you are. If you’re in the snow, stay safe and make some snow angels for me!

Bottom line is Lebron is fuggin hooping right now and he has my vote for MVP no doubt. and this is a Laker fan talking now.

i feel that lebron is just trying a lil bit too hard to live up to the “kobe-lebron” hype . kobe just does it so easy and smooth like a true veteran . . sumthn like a MJ

  • kg

kevin durant is a bottom feeder lol now he needs to wait for his time to come like melo did instead of trying to force his way into being good b/c its only ruining his game and his team like the thunder@bucks . he is a gunner

  • T-Money

lakers fans are in disarray. their favorite player is not the best player in the league. if the question was whos better, melo or kobe. they would just say kobe, they wouldnt even talk about rings. since they can’t admit that bron is better, they have to talk rings. like that’s relevant or something in a discussion about who’s playing basketball at a higher level RIGHT NOW. we’re not judging careers here.

“Tell me how my Cavs taste.”

    Thank you, Anton.

  • The Wize

It was funny when T-Money said Lebron travels all summer long. He travels all season long too, that’s the “footwork” someone else was talking about.

  • kudos

ALL COMMENTORS: like last year, the cavs went number one and had a 65 win year, as i expect lebron to do good in the reg season. Just like nash, regular season doesnt mean anything come playoffs.

Homecourt advantage and the opportunity to rest/dial it down the last few regular season games seem like fine perquisites for having a winning record.
