Al Harrington Wouldn’t Mind Playing for the Nets

Harrington will be a free agent this summer, and if the Nets come calling, he’ll be all ears. The NY Post reports: “Knicks forward Al Harrington often wears a ballcap with a scripted ‘NJ.’ The former star at St. Patrick’s High in Elizabeth, who lives in Edgewater, said he’s not trying to send out any subliminal messages — but told The Post he definitely would be interested in signing with his hometown Nets this summer, especially since they will play in Newark, 10 miles from Elizabeth, the next two seasons. ‘If they had interest in me, I’d take a strong look at that,’ Harrington, a free-agent-to-be, told The Post. ‘It’s still the city. It’s still home. I’d rather play at the Garden, but I’d play in Newark, too.’ According to a source, the Wizards, Blazers and Bulls are expected to have interest in Harrington this summer.”

I wouldn’t mind either. Even for the minimum!

Another second tier player positioning for gross overpayment when the superstars stay home.

As a Nets fan, I wouldn’t mind seeing Harrington playing for us. Brook inside, Harrington outside… But Harrington has to understand that Lopez has to get the ball first.

is it because he can launch as many shots as he wants with the current nets roster? of course there’s that whole unused cap space thing in the equation

…but the Nets would mind, Al.

Al Harrington is a very good player, and a lot of teams could really use him. Like the Knicks. Except Walsh and D’Antoni don’t care about that.
Harrington is one of the most underrated players in the league right now. He can play inside and out, shoot the ball, post up, drive… Offensively he’s pretty talented.

Is Al trying to play for every terrible team in the league before he retires? He left a good thing in Indy to go play for Atlanta when the Hawks were awful. Then played for GS and they were awful for most of his time there. Now he’s in NY and the Knicks are terrible. Next season in NJ? If I were him I’d head to Sacramento next year because they look like they might have a nice team in a few short years. Better play with them soon before they don’t suck any more Al. NJ looks like they’re going to suck for awhile. There’s time to go back home.
