Andrew Bynum Nearing Return?

Phil Jackson tells the OC Register that Bynum — who was supposed to be out until April — may rejoin the team on their current five-game road trip:  It’d be wholly out of character, but could Andrew Bynum be making an early return? Bynum was seen Wednesday not wearing the protective boot anymore — he still wears it at times — and reported significant improvement again his strained left Achilles’ tendon. Phil Jackson left the door open for Bynum to play late on this five-game trip that ends March 31. ‘He did say he’s feeling a lot better today,’ Jackson said before the Lakers-Spurs game. Jackson also noted about Bynum playing within the next week, ‘I can’t see that happening right now,” but Jackson reiterated later that it is a possibility.”

Hmm.. I’d still expect a return early April.

Why return at all!!, it’s not like he will make a lot of difference. He will never become a Shaq or a Howard type of player. YOu can see it when he gets the ball under the rim, he goes up all out of balance, sometimes with smaller guys blocking him. Shaq needs to teach him how to gather yourself and go up and take 3 guys with you while you’re at it…..bad mistake to learn from Kareem to be a finesse player instead of using muscle…thats how you impose a presence down low. I miss Shaq…did I mention I am a Laker fan?

@Jorge. you are not a Laker fan. playing with finesse allows you to become the NBA’s leading scorer and be very effective into your early 40′s-see Lou Alcinder. “Using muscle?” is more conducive to being pretty worthless since age 35-see Shaq. At the same time, I wouldnt even call Bynum a finesse player. Furthermore to say that he will not make a lot of difference is pure ignorance or absolute hater talk. Still laughing at “Shaq needs to teach him how to gather yourself (teach who? me? slam magazine?)”

Can you teach someone to be over 300 lbs of mostly muscle so you can put those people on your back while you dunk on all of them?

bynum won’t play till his fourties be real he get’s injured every year and the older he gets the longer those injuries take to heal. the lakers show no sense of urgency in their play or great chemistry. Last year it was them and the year before it was the celtics but this year no team shows that sense of urgency in their play there are three super talented teams Lakers, magic and cavs and three very talented teams celtics, mavericks and nuggets and all the others have no chance. Next seasons western confrence batle will we between the nuggets, rockets and blazers. MAYBE the lakers but I think they’re done especialy if they don’t win it this year.
