Gilbert Arenas on Playing for Wizards: ‘No Problem’

Gilbert tells the AP that he has no problem rejoining the team. Whether or not the feeling is mutual remains to be seen: “Since pleading guilty to a felony gun charge and receiving a subsequent season-ending suspension from the NBA, Gilbert Arenas has done what most thought he was incapable of achieving: He has maintained a low profile. Other than a brief comment about his suspension and an opinion piece in The Washington Post, Arenas hasn’t said much of anything publicly. But on Tuesday, Arenas told the Associated Press that he would have ‘no problem’ playing for the Washington Wizards again. In the days and weeks after he received an indefinite suspension following his behavior and comments in Philadelphia in early January, Arenas had been telling those close to him that he had no desire to play for team President Ernie Grunfeld again. Arenas, who averaged 22.6 points and 7.2 assists in 32 games this season, is still owed more than $80 million over the next four seasons. ‘I have no problem,’ Arenas said. ‘Basketball is basketball. I don’t think people realize that. No matter what city, overseas, D-league, park league — I just want to play.”‘

Am I the only one who thinks he still has more guns at his disposal than Obama?? He can’t play in Washington; impossible.

He’s too good (and expensive) not to play and too much of a risk (considering his past and expense) for another team to want. So my guess is he plays with the ‘new’ Wiz next season and lights it up. He clearly still has talent and can contribute on the court, the concern of off-the-court games and guns is an entirely different issue. I doubt he has any more guns or if he does, he’s trying to get rid of them quietly. I think the prospect of loosing $80+ mil is enough to straighten up just about anybody.

No doghouse like David Stern’s… Changes every opinion.

Why should he have a problem with the Wizards? He singlehandedly destroyed the entire team. Actually Ernie Grunfeld helped a lot too.

Ridiculous that Grunfeld still has a job.
