Ray Allen Organizing Seattle Charity Game

The former Sonic tells S.I. that it’s a small gesture of appreciation for the city that no longer has an NBA team: “Since Seattle lost its NBA team in 2008, a handful of players are determined to bring pro basketball back to the Emerald City. A charity game, spearheaded by Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen and embraced by a litany of other players with ties to Seattle and the now-defunct SuperSonics, is in the works for this summer. ‘I thought it was appropriate to do something for the city, to thank the fans for more than 40 years of support, and to show the NBA that Seattle is still a viable market for the NBA,’ Allen said. Allen and former Sonics forward Detlef Schrempf have reached out to a number of players with ties to the Sonics and Seattle to enlist their help in putting on a competitive and entertaining game. Among those set to appear are Jason Terry, Jamal Crawford, Brandon Roy, Aaron Brooks, while Terry he hopes Hall of Fame coach Lenny Wilkens and either Paul Silas or Fred Brown will serve as coaches.”

You definitely gotta have some of the Thunder players in the mix… Nick Collison for sure since he’s the longest tenured player w/ the Sonics/Thunder organization.. Bring Luke Ridnour back home to play as well. GP, Kemp, Reggie Evans was always a fan favorite too..

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

co sign teddythebear. jesus is the man and seattle should have that team back…BRING BACK THE BLAZERS/SONICS RIVALRY!!!!!

  • BostonBaller

I’m not saying the following players could play in the game but just to show up would be great: DJ, Sikma, Nate McMillan, Terry Cimmings, and S. Perkins. Didn’t Eric Snow, dave Wingate & Hersey Hawkins play for them too?

  • Ryan.T.

I also noticed nobody mentioned Rashard Lewis.. Sam Perkins showing up would be classic.. BUT…. With Seattle’s luck, Jim Mcilvain would be invited back before Kemp would. Anybody remember that 7 foot waste of $alary space?? I’m still mad about that..

  • hushabomb

Hell if we goin old skool, bring back X-Man and Tom chambers. Hopefully if someone wants to move a franchise or looking to expand Seattle is a ready made market!
