David West, Chris Paul Ready for Changes by Hornets

The Hornets might look dramatically different by next season, something that CP-3 and David West understand, and tell the local press they’re ready for: “Both said change is needed after the Hornets sputtered to a 37-45 record, their worst finish since 2004-05 when they won only 18 games. ‘I don’t think anybody can feel they are an untouchable,’ West said. ‘I thought what we had this year just wasn’t good enough to stay in the hunt, even with the injuries. I think the only thing to do is to look at improving the roster.’ The season began with Byron Scott getting fired after a disappointing 3-6 start, and it ended with Paul missing the final four games after suffering a ligament tear in his right middle finger, his third major injury of the season. ‘What we did this year, obviously didn’t work,’ Paul said. ‘So there is definitely going to be a little change. We’ve got to get better all around. Hopefully, we’ll do pretty well in the draft and we’ve got to get healthy.”‘

Sebastican Telfair, Mo, JJ Hickson, draft picks for CP3.

  • Logues

trading cp3 is the worst thing the hornets could do

I’m not sold on Okafor. Chandler was a better fit. Maybe if they can draft a good Center in a big-heavy draft…

their big hole is small forward, with peja aging and no replacement, it’s a huge chink in the armor. another season with thornton/collison alongside paul will be beneficial and should yield huge improvements though.

Okafor is a really good 4 and a mediocre 5. I’ve seen Bynum and Pau playing volleyball over his head, it was pathetic. And let’s just say that you’re not making the playoffs with Mo Pete in your rotation. He was washed up 4 years ago.

Maybe they can draft a Damion James, Paul George, or Ed Davis for that SF spot..

  • Captain Fantastic

    I blame Hurricane Katrina.

niQ: Really? No. They need Hayward or Ebanks or some form of scoring SF not Damion James. They need to learn to score. Trade Okafor. He’s not that good.

@Anton, what more can you ask for your Cavs?

aren’t they deep enough for you this season?
well, if your king won’t win a ring this year guess that’ll help lol

  • $tev3

They will both get traded to the EASTERN Conference

  • $tev3

    But play for different teams

Paul to the Rockets for Aaron Brooks? That’s been a rumor for so long now… I want Brooks to remain a Rocket though..

Totally agree with @Logues, trading cp3 is the worst idea. Injuries or not hes worth plenty. Al Harrington would be a great pick up.

  • ai come back

okafor at pf draft center at center and west at pf

  • ai come back

    blahg west at sf

  • Lazaruz

west CANNOT play sf. playing okafor at pf and drafting a c is a good idea though. a west + collison trade package could get you sumsin nice.

  • Lazaruz

whiteside is long and athletic like chandler, maybe a nice fit for hornets.

What kind of money do they have in the free agent hunt next season? Maybe they could do a sign and trade for Bosh??? I think a Bosh/CP3/Thornton trio could look great for the Hornets – Move West and Collison to Toronto, Collisons’ stock has taken off, there must be a team in dire need for a young intelligent PG out there in Canada?!

  • ClydeSays

CP3 is that much more effective with athletes running the break & going in for layups or dunks.

Trading Chandler for Okafor changed them into an undersized halfcourt team. Add to that their aging wing players Peja, Mo Pete & Posey, then the injuires to Paul… I can’t see how anyone expected that combo to win.

Get Paul healthy & give him some athletes & that team would at least be entertaining.

  • rikson

Actually they have a history of trading very talented PGs away….
